cats being capable of understanding accidents and even giving you a little head bonk to let you know you're still cool makes it infinitely funnier that they don't understand when you're trying to help them
cats when you step on their tail: i'll admit that was rather ouchie, but given the lifetime of goodwill and trust between us, one must conclude this booboo is but a fluke.
cats when you try to get their claws unstuck from the couch covering: this nefarious bitch has never had a single honorable intention in their dishonest and shameful life, this must be one of their sinister plots or perhaps even an attempt on my life,
Polly finally noticed the lil plastic skeleton i put in her house back in October for halloween. She's made herself at home inside its rib cage.
Anyway, if youâd like to support pro-Jewish, pro-trans fantasy works right now in addition to boycotting Harry Potter and the Thousand and One Antisemitic Stereotypes, please consider the works of @shiraglassman. Shira is an independent Jewish author whoâs written multiple works of fantasy set in the mythical country of Perach, following the adventures of a Jewish queen and her wife.
You want disabled characters? You got âem.
You want trans characters? You got âem.
You want queer characters? You got âem.
You want characters of color? You got âem.
You want dragons? You got âem.
You want wizards? You got âem.
You want Jewish characters? THEYâRE ALL JEWISH.
You want mystery, romance, adventure, âthat really amazing fanfic you read that one time that will live rent-free in your head foreverâ vibes, and the assurance that every effort is made to ensure really horrible stereotypes are NOT being used? You got that, too.
And if that sounds like it gets you, you can get it, right here. And consider a reblog to share with a friend or two!
(I am going to ask Shira that if this crosses her dash, could you kindly add the links to other sites, because I basically never buy books new and have no idea where, outside The Cursed Forest, they are available.)
Thank you! The whole Mangoverse series is bundled here for $17 (five book PDFs) on PayHip. Most of them are also on Gumroad individually, for $2-4 each. That Cursed Big River Site you mentioned has paperbacks too btw.
By the way, since I know plot is important and many people will want to know that on top of the representation stuff, that Payhip link above in my other reply has thorough, mostly spoiler free summaries of all five books. I'm glad they feel like good fanfic to you, that's what I was going for â something comforting and like a treat. đ That's what they are to me, at any rate.
one of the more valuable things Iâve learned in life as a survivor of a mentally unstable parent is that it is likely that no one has thought through it as much as you have.Â
no, your friend probably has not noticed they cut you off four times in this conversation.Â
no, your brother didnât realize his music was that loud while you were studying.Â
no, your bff or S.O. doesnât remember that youâre on a tight deadline right now.
no, no one else is paying attention to the four power dynamics at play in your friend group right now. Â
a habit of abused kids, especially kids with unstable parents, is the tendency to notice every little detail. We magnify small nuances into major things, largely because small nuances quickly became breaking points for parents. Managing moods, reading the room, perceiving danger in the order of words, the shift of body weightâŚ.itâs all a natural outgrowth of trying to manage unstable parents from a young age.Â
Hereâs the thing: most people donât do that. Iâm not saying everyone else is oblivious, Iâm saying the over analysis of minor nuances is a habit of abuse.Â
I have a rule: I do not respond to subtext. This includes guilt tripping, silent treatments, passive aggressive behavior, etc. I see it. I notice it. I even sometimes have to analyze it and take a deep breath and CHOOSE not to respond. Because whether itâs really there or just me over-reading things that actually donât mean anything, the habit of lending credence to the part of me that sees danger in the wrong shift of body weightâŚthatâs toxic for me. And dangerous to my relationships.Â
The best thing I ever did for myself and my relationships was insist upon frank communication and a categorical denial of subtext. For some people this is a moral stance. For survivors of mentally unstable parents this is a requirement of recovery.Â
I canât even begin to tell you how happy I am for him! (x)
Assassinâs Creed Unity got raked over the coals for this stuff but apparently the Blood Libel Transphobia Bonanza gets a pass
aw beans I stepped in a bear trap but it wasnât with my favorite foot 9/10
It is easily the most biased video game review I have ever seen and a blatant example of review scores being inflated but a bunch of comments are praising how "fair" it is for not giving a bad score just because of the bigotry and attacks on human rights.
something something ethics in games journalism
With vanilla extract being a meme, I wanted to share some black history of Edmond Albius a black slave who revolutionized vanilla pollination.
He used a technique he learned of pollinating melons to polinate the orchids to create the vanilla beans. Vanilla was rare and a luxury mainly due to only being able to be pollinated by its natural pollinator in Mexico.
unfortanely, he didnt receive any money for his discovery despite being called the main man who revolutionized pollination, he died in poverty...
everyone say thank you Edmond
Our Republic are petitioning the Scottish Parliament to end legal loopholes for the Monarchy.
The former Queen and new Kingâs lawyers can refuse to sign off on laws unless the Scottish Government exempts the Monarchy. Basically the King can hold back progress unless the Scottish Government writes into law that the monarchy doesnât actually have to follow it.
Sign here:
Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to: - legislate to abolish adaptations and exemptions to legislation
Thanks to everyone who has signed so far. You can sign from any country.
In less than a day weâve passed 1000 signatures and have overtaken the transphobic scaremongering petition about âSafeguarding our schoolsâ.
Please sign if you can, you can do it from anywhere.
Over 3000 signatures - letâs get it as high as possibleđŞ
So close to 4000 - please do sign this petition. You donât need to be Scottish.
The number of signatures is important for media coverage and for how much attention the petition gets in Parliament.
Just to clarify again, you do not need to be Scottish or in the UK to sign this petition. There are drop-down options for other countries.
It will require you to verify your vote via email, but please do consider signing this. We need to start prying the monarchy out of power like the parasites they are.
Also, for those who asked me in DMs, itâs âOur Republicâ as in anti-monarchy, not US Republican.

Non binary office bat boogie!

This is probably my most well known embroidery animation. The main goal with this one was to see how complex I could make a character design in this medium and still have it be feasible to make. The answer is: about this complex, lol. After this one I began bringing in bits of fabric so that I could still have complex designs but make things a little faster for myself.
Some different frames from the non binary office bat boogie! The smear frames were my favourite part to sew.

Cats are the new bosses.
This makes me happy in ways I canât completely describe.
There was a science fiction short story with that plot. Evil Aliens hit a spaceship full of humans with a paralysis ray before boarding. The ship's cat 1.) wasn't affected 2.) had been entered into the system as a crew member as a joke. So, being the ranking crew member, the cat was in charge. Ship's computer displayed the enemy ships on the tactical command touch screen and the cat swatted at the glowy dots, targeting the ships and activating the defenses.
how can you say this and not tell us the name of the story of the author because I AM DESPERATE NOW...
Everything about this post is causing me to make the same face as that cat.
I HAVE A BOOK THAT STORY IS IN!!!!! The story itself is titled âWell Worth the Moneyâ and written by Jody Lynn Nye. The book I have is titled âCats in Space (and Other Places)â edited by Bill Fawcett and published in 1992 by Baen Publishing Enterprises, distributed by Simon and Schuster. ISBN 0-671-72118-6. EVERY STORY IN THE BOOK IS GREAT, and I suggest if you can lay your hands on a copy you do so.Â
(Warning, the front cover says âIn space, no one can hear you meow...â and the back cover says, âSpace, the Feline Frontier.â Just in case youâre allergic to puns or something.)
