lily regarded the other opposite her with interest, lips pulled into a thin line and brows arched slightly into a quizzical expression. 'you realize that you’re saying this to the head girl, right?’ lily’s tone sounded as though she was serious, but the fairly amused grin that quirked at the corners of her mouth conveyed otherwise. ‘i should be giving you a detention just for suggesting that.’

becoming head girl was what lily had worked her entire hogwarts career for. six years of working her arse off and she finally got there. she’ll never forget the feeling that overcame her when she held that shiny new badge between her fingers for the first time. satisfaction. accomplishment. pride. 

still, this wasn’t exactly what she had in mind for all those years. slumped over a desk at half past five in the morning, all but drooling over a scattered pile of forms and schedules. she loved it, truly; just maybe not this early in the morning. 

and then came her saving grace, a knight in shining armour in the shape of head boy james potter. not a phrase she would typically think, let alone say out loud, but he had a cup of hot coffee with her name on it, one she took from him at lightning speed, pushing a piece of parchment to the floor in the process.

‘merlin, i love you.’ lily muttered against her cup of coffee, content and happy and smiling, as she took a large gulp of coffee, reveling in the way the liquid warmed and awakened her senses, burning the whole way down. she gave him the goofiest grin she’d probably ever mustered, green eyes shining with appreciation. ‘you’re the best.’

“You’re gonna be so cool now, it’s ridiculous.”

‘oh, irina.’ a crooked smile came over her face at her friend’s words. she whirled around, watching irina with as much interest and affection as she received in return. the two were an odd pairing, that much they knew. in fact, numerous people had tried to warn her of what a friendship with irina dolohov might be like. and in return lily gave them that same crooked smile and a friendly laugh, and merely ran back over to her friend without another word.

that’s just how they were, those two. the more people told them the other was trouble, the closer they got. irina was the person she turned to when she had no one else; a sister. ‘i’ve always been this cool, babe, the rest of you are just now catching up.’ lily replied with a wink.

her voice was deceptively nonchalant, but her lips were twisted into a faint, thin smirk that she was unable to suppress. despite the ruckus sirius was making, lily was the paradigm of serene. she made no outward inclination that she was paying attention to him at all. she was tucked comfortably into one of the common room’s love seats, eyes lazily gazing over her potions work, almost as if he wasn’t there.

and in the most pleasantly calm voice she’d ever managed, with only the slightest of a smile on her lips, she finally glanced back up to him and said: ’no, you’re sirius. i’m lily.’

stupid love songs that she can’t get out if her head. cheek kisses. forehead touching. puppies. kittens. 

            painter’s palette: are you more of a singer, dancer, painter, or instrumentalist?

painter. lily loves colour. the colour of the sky just before sunset. the colour of the flames in the common room fireplace. the colour of scotland’s hills in spring. she’s inspired by all the colours that surround her.

           tulip: what is your most favorite make-up product? do you like it more natural, dark, or etc?

eyeshadow. she doesn’t wear it as much as she’d like, but she loves playing with colours. her go to when she needs to be quick are warm tones. burgundy, maroon, pomegranate, rose gold. but lily loves bold colours. cobalt, mint, violet, lemon, fuschia, aqua.

            waxflower: are you a bee or a butterfly person? a dog or a cat person?

butterflies! lily adores butterflies. she’s got a feeder outside her house and always tries to take pictures of them when they come.

as much as she loves dogs, she’s only ever had cats, so they win out, but only just.

it’s a wonder how lily still has all her teeth with how much sweets she eats. she loves chocolate the most, but gummies are a close second. she’s always got a stash somewhere, usually in her trunk or nightstand, and always stocks up when she goes to honeydukes.
