My submission didn't make it to the next round, so I figure Capcom won't mind if I post this here. It was a pretty mundane design, I know, but the vacuum arm thing is already the main gimmick, so I was trying to do something that didn't feel like putting a hat on a hat. My little gambit didn't pay off anyway, but I'm still glad I participated. There were a lot of good designs in the twenty that made it, so I didn't mind losing to them. It was hard to narrow down my vote to just one.
So, it's the tenth anniversary of Splatoon...
Unfortunately, life got in the way of me having anything prepared for today (actually yesterday, I was too tired from work to even make this post yesterday), so I thought I'd go in the opposite direction. These are some of the first sketches I ever did of any Splatoon characters, probably from all the way back in 2015. They're so weird and flat looking, you can tell it was before I really did any training or had any idea of what I was doing. I think I will make a little something for the occasion... eventually, as in "hopefully before the end of the year, but even then I shouldn't make promises." To be honest, I dunno why this series ended up meaning so much to me. Maybe it just came at the right time in my life, as I was just really starting to feel becoming a teenager. Maybe it was the right combination of aesthetics that felt like it was designed specifically for me. Maybe the worldbuilding gave off a sense of wonder and discovery despite also looking fairly mundane and grounded for its premise. Maybe, as silly as it sounds, the urban aesthetic made me think it was what being a teenager/adult was going to be like. What I do know is that I found a lot of wonderful artists through the community it generated that I still look up to to this day, and the series still inspires me to push myself with my art and learn new skills for it.
Here's to staying fresh for at least another ten years!
Some more old art and sketches, for those interested. Anywhere from 2015 to 2017. I used to really be focused on the S1 Inkling Boy. I still think it's a good design, one of my favorites for the promotional characters.

The Aardman X Pokémon crossover if Nintendo weren't cowards. (P.S.: Yes I'm still alive lol)
I checked in on the bug universe again, and I learned that they have the "Skitter Sisters" and "Out the Net". This information may be a lot to handle but I hope you all can accept it.
@somesecretpie This post is like if you and me did a fusion dance
I've finally finished this animation I've been working on for ages. Would really appreciate it if you spread it around, it's probably the only way it'll get any traction. Also look for the companion video showing how this all came together!

omg this comic was so silly are you gonna keep working on it or I it over
"Silly" isn't really what I was going for, but yeah, it's finished.
It's been a few months since I put out my comic, so I wanted to give an update. I have seen the comments people have left, and I am very happy with the responses.
Life has been busy for me lately, but I do have more projects in the works. The next thing I post will likely be an animation that is not Splatoon-related, but after that, the next things I post will most likely be. I hope people aren't too upset by the slight deviation in my content. While the majority of what I post will likely be Splatoon, I don't want to pigeonhole myself to only one fandom, hence why my profile picture is Banjo. But for now, I figured people would appreciate some preproduction work I did for Eight's Epilogue. It's not very refined, and I regret not doing more model sheets, but it worked well enough for me.
Thank you so much for giving justice to Agent 8 as a character. The way they are portrayed in fanon annoys me so much, but your comic does everything right. You gave 8 emotions without turning them into a soft uwu baby AND recognized that 8 saved the world. Thank you so much for this comic.
I understand why people do it, I think. They acknowledge what the character went through and want to see them comforted, because it makes the fan artists comforted. But I completely agree with you. In context, she's not just a waif to be doted on. She's a child soldier that, while physically capable, is trying to figure out what to do with her newfound freedom. At least that's how I see her. I also have some thoughts on the "saving the world" part. I theorize that the part with the statue in the Octo Expansion finale was added on out of fear that players wouldn't be satisfied with the Agent 3 fight and just having Agent 8 escape and leaving the Deepsea Metro a hanging thread or looming threat (before they decided to go back and address the loose ends of Octo Expansion through Side Order. I don't know if fan response to Agent 8's character, Dedf1sh, and/or Off the Hook inspired that, though I doubt it was planned all the way back in 2018, and my comic came out way too late to potentially influence that). Now I'm just rambling. Either way, thank you for reading, and I appreciate that you picked up on what I was trying to do.
That was heartfelt and amazing...will we witness any other adventures or family fluff bonding freindship moments?
👌🍰Yah deserve all the cake in the world....with mayo fillingXb
Thank you. I have some other ideas I want to explore, but it'll probably be a while before you see anything like this from me again.
woah! that comic was great! do you think you could add a tag to all posts in the series for easier browsing in the future and/or add next and previous links to each page? it's only going to get harder and harder to read it. i'd really like it to be easily accessible in the future.
Done. I made a new pinned Table of Contents post, then added Previous and Next page links as well as a link to the Table of Contents on each page.
Dude...I am s9 adding your Splatoon comic to my list of recommended to read fancomics!
Thank you!
HUGE fan of how unapologetically expressive your art is, love seeing your work in my dash 🌻
I like the term "unapologetically expressive." Thank you.
I’m curious to know what the relationship between your Agent 3 and 8 is like 👀
Hold that thought...
