I was looking over some of your old Harry Potter AU stuff for Gravity Falls and I really love it, you know? Plus it got me thinking... If Stan can fool all of Hogwarts then he was probably a perfect spy during the war against Bill. Whoever is in charge of the equivalent Order probably recruited him because Bill's allies aren't going to pay attention to a Muggle but Stan's got enough tricks to easily slip by them anyway. Ford doesn't know at first though he's a part of the org, so he's (part 1)
(part 2) shocked and worried, and though Stan shrugs off the worry, this is what leads to them reconciling. Then, in the final battle against Bill with Dipper, Mabel and everyone, Stan still shows up and heâs taking out Death Eaters left and right first with a bat then with brass knuckles b/c no oneâs expecting actual fighting. I can just see him take a blow to protect Dipper and Mabel or Ford, and he doesnât have magic to protect himself, and I just⊠My heart⊠Anyway, great AU ideas here
Wow, I havenât thought about this AU in a long time, but these asks are wonderful! And an opportunity to let loose some thoughts, so:
The first part actually aligns almost exactly with how I imagined this AU playing out; except in my version, Fordâs actually the one to call Stan to help in the first war with Bill, since he knows his brother will be able to slip between the magic world and the muggle world without issue. Heâs a bit hesitant to involve his sibling, as unfortunately, growing up in a pureblooded household and holding onto anger brother lying to you for years and disgracing the family name can leave you with some unsavory misconceptions.
In turn, Stanâs a bit salty after a decade of estrangement, and because of how squibs tend to get treated even by allies within the Order, but he joins anyway. This leads to their reconciliation and a lot of inner growth for each of them, especially after Stanâs lethally injured during a raid that kills a bunch of muggles; not because they discovered he was a spy, but because they discovered his squib status.
Fordâs forced to confront that Billâs followers arenât a product of the dark wizardâs influence and their beliefs are not a singular phenomena: theyâve been cultivated through years of prejudice against nonhuman, non-magic users. And realizes that even the most minor and flippant bigotry - which he, and to be fair, many moderate, prestigious wizards throughout the years didnât see the importance in addressing - cannot be left unchecked any longer.
Meanwhile, Stan's brave efforts do not go unnoticed, and the people around him begin to recognize his worth. This does wonders for his self-esteem, and he finally starts to feel he belongs in the magical world that he turned his back on after it turned on him, and he helps win the war not out of obligation or self-interest but a desire to protect and preserve this world.
Whoo, sorry of the ramble. And to conclude, the second part of the ask is just perfect. Iâve nothing else to add.
