omni mark (14 page oneshot)

A spontaneous "what if Mark got his powers earlier" 14 page oneshot comic about Nolan and the results of his A++ parenting.

And that's a glimpse of Omni-Mark's origin story :3 His tv show counterpart is such an interesting case study of a Mark that was clearly inspired off of Omni-Man, so presumably he loved and idolized the man enough to don his attire... he's the most "dad-like" of the alternate Marks in that he doesn't like to swear, coaches the other Marks on teamwork and is mostly calm, quiet and reserved. But he killed his mom and hates his home? So there's some fun thought fodder there as to how that may have happened.

Anyway, this all started because I wanted to draw some Nolan and his very alien Viltrumite like way of thinking with hyperviolence as a form of showing love to your offspring clashing with the genuine and very human parental love he developed over time... I figured his heart slowly but surely got soft over the years, enough that it burst upon impact :)

I was rereading the comic and realized that I just couldn't help but do something with these characters. So I sat down and speedran this animation in 4 days. I've never drawn anyone from Invincible before, so I know their faces are not always very consistent 👍

a little fun fact: as much as I know my English is around B1-B2, and usually that's enough to read fan comics, but not in this case. The first time I read this one, I felt so stupid, I didn’t understand a lot of expressions and words that characters used. So during following rereads, I sat there with a notebook and a translator. Now I know what FUBAR, headshrinkers, subterfuge, and cadence mean. Comics reading has never been so productive :'D

The whole "a ~mental block~ was placed on Eve when she was a fetus so her atom-shaping powers would be limited to non-organic things" to keep Eve from being more powerful than Mark because her destiny is to become his child bearing wifu was so horseshit to me that I decided to undo it 😤

Anyway, in canon it also felt dumb to me that she was passed out for more than a day due to broken legs so I'm sneaking in and postulating that it was because Cecil's docs undid the mental block using brain-surgery-no-jutsu. Hey, if Bobert Kirkman can use ridiculous plot device pseudoscience for his sexist agenda, I can too!!!!! 😤😤

The Donald's son committing suicide thing and his memory repression afterward to avoid him committing suicide too is a headcanon of mine I expanded on briefly with these comics (x, x).

It's also my headcanon that Cecil struggled on and off with alcoholism till he got the skin upgrade that eliminated his need to eat and drink. This is informed one because he's so very patient and kind to Francisco alias "Chupacabra" in the Guardians of the Globe comic whose whole Thing is he's a chronic relapsing alcoholic, who Cecil calls "my old friend" and constantly checks in on and reminds him not to drink, and also this panel of him being super slutty with Pancho.

Isotope's ringtone for Machine Head is Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger" 🤭 The coordinates lead to Lake Michigan some ways away from Chicago, because Isotope's pad is deep underwater, just like how The Order's evil headquarters are in the Guarding the Globe comic :3

finally, Conquest!!!!

I was torn as to how to draw and write this scene, because it could've gone a million different ways! All I knew is I at least wanted Cecil to try and negotiate up front and personal, and for Conquest to get a face to face impression of Cecil prior to duking it out with Mark.

Also, I'm still running the gag of Cecil being assigned daddy by the narrative. He hates it sooo much, its like petting a cat's fur backward :D

Got these preview pages of Issue 10 from Instagram, there's Conquest in them!

It feels surreal seeing Conquest outside of fighting but it is such a joy~

He looks so handsome in that first panel. I dare to say this but... He looks so sweet and friendly. Obviously he isn't but his hand casually placed on his hip makes him feel a bit like it.

Obviously it's because I want him so bad.

It makes me giggle when he said "Our boy Thokk", he loooooves Battle Beast already.
