Before you come at me with Brit being OOC, in his comics an alternate universe Brit canonically turns into an evil emperor that tries his best to time capsule all of the things he loves-- he enslaves Cecil as his butler, merges with Donald, and destroys nearly everything on Earth except a museum of things he cherishes. Bro's got more than a few screws loose, he's just good about not showing it most of the time 😤

Brit's wife is one of those side characters that I feel so bad for, like. Oh my god that poor woman Goes Through Some Shit, and she's never truly allowed to process any of it?¿? She has to forgive Brit and have him back because he's the titular character, but oh my gawwwwdd if Brit were my baby daddy I would poison the shit out of him and keep his entire estate.

First of all, she dropped out of law school to start stripping and Brit, HER BOSS, started dating her when she was who KNOWS how old, eloped with her and then kept her in an underground bunker in the middle of buttfuck nowhere on the run from the government that tried to bomb them out of existence, meanwhile she was isolated from her whole family (who are Eve-family levels of yuck), and then what do you mean Brit's random estranged hundred year old brother had her husband cloned and she had sex with a stranger for a year and then her son was replaced by a goop alien that she was trying and failing to raise for who knows how long?! Jesus Christ. Talk about PTSD bingo.

Oh, random but relevant-- while Brit Jr. is canonically diagnosed as having autism and I will be keeping the diagnosis here, I genuinely think that poor toddler was simply fucking traumatized to shit @_@

I wonder if any Cecil would take the opportunity to change their face? 🤔 I actually headcanon the alternate universe female Cecil (Cecilia?) from the tv show is a trans woman, so I do think Cecil would take that opportunity under certain circumstances. But would Licec take this chance? 🤔🤔

how do you go about the whole comic making process? i know most of your designs are canon/canon-adjacent but do you still do like ref sheets and turnarounds??

Ooh I WISH! That would actually make my life easier, haha! I do have a folder of canon references I've accumulated but the problem is I rarely check them when I need them T-T You might notice I never drew Licec's GDA armour correctly; that's because I was always drawing from memory despite having a folder of TV-show armour references and then in literally the last page I was like, hey, I should check a reference-- oh my god that's totally different (lol).

(Discarded panels from an earlier page that showcase what I "thought" was the original design from memory, and how it degraded to the actual way I draw it now.... neither of them are accurate lol)

What helps me the most to not sweat it is internal consistency, like, sure I never drew it right but as long as its the same or similar between panels, it's all good. In the end, its a small percentage of readers that will nickpick this and what's important is that I convey the emotion or flow I'm imagining. Human brains are notoriously good at filling in blanks or ambiguity with whatever suits their mindset best at the time they're seeing it.

For comics, I think what most helps an amateur actually do a long form comic is the ability to "not sweat the small stuff" and "keep the momentum going". If you try to be a perfectionist in every panel, you are going to burn out. Try to draw what compels you, what will keep you engaged and interested 'cause you are gonna be staring at these pages and poses and characters for many, many hours, and the energy you invest in it will rarely be given back to you as reader appreciation, so hinging on that is also gonna burn you out fast. Enjoy the process and the product, you should make it for you first and foremost!!

For a professional comic book artist, of which I am not of course so take this advice with a grain of salt, what you need is discipline and timeliness. And the ability to not let your ego or self worth get in the way when your editor tells you to scrap things and redraw them xD;; I didn't have that ability so I decided to become a doctor instead 🤪
