Why would anyone ruin bread that way????

Leo yawned. It was getting easier to blend in with humans, he thought. And today was unusually warm for the season. What could be better? Maybe if he came home, and found out his sister didn’t cause any trouble. He chuckled at the thought softly.

Suddenly, he started looking around. Something seemed different. Humans shouldn’t give off this type of energy. It was familiar though. He looked around. Was there another Lati trying to blend in here? He smiled when he figured out who he was sensing, and put a hand on their shoulder. He wasn’t going to try talking yet, just in case he was wrong.

When if got their attention, he let go of them, and waved. He then pointed to a metal name tag that read Leo Sue. How was he going to ask if they were secretly a legendary pokemon without seeming weird? Obviously by pointing to them, making a triangle shape with his hands, and then stretching his arms out like his wings.

"My snoring's not that bad..."

"I'm trying to sleep here!"

"That doesn't look like a very comfortable place to sleep."

"I do not drool when I sleep!"

"Do I really drool when I sleep?"

"If you do the cold water prank on me while I'm sleeping I'll kill you."

"If you do the whipped cream and feather prank on me while I'm sleeping you're dead to me."

*sleepy mumbling noises*

"Do I really talk in my sleep?"

"Do I say anything interesting when I talk in my sleep?"

"Have a nice nap?"

"Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite."

"Want me to sing you a lullaby?"

"Having trouble sleeping?"

"You can sleep in my bed if you want."

"Your snoring kept me up all night."

"Go to sleep already..."

"You were crying in your sleep... is everything alright?"

"Bad dreams again?"

"Not another nightmare is it?"

"You look exhausted, you should get some sleep."

*draws mustache on you while you sleep*

"You woke me up... I was having a nice nap too..."

"I wanna go back to bed..."

"Wh-? I jus' woke up..."

"You sleep too much."

"You don't sleep enough"

"You look so cute when you're asleep. So peaceful."

"Sometimes I watch you sleep."

“La~! Tii, ttt, Latte!” She hummed, leaning in when her brother patted her head. It was a good thing that the hours were slow and not many people were present, or she may have become the center of strange lala-related gossip. 

Have you been busy? She asked her brother wordlessly, hurrying to gather the coffee making supplies, I make money, did you know that? It’s used to buy human toys for human girls like Sama!

Leo put a finger to his lips.  Stop talking, Latte. You’ll make the humans wonder. Whether there were humans around or not. I make money too. I bake bread and pastries. I save the money.

— And there, standing behind the counter, was the cafe’s perkiest barista. Also the most useless. All she was good at was drawing latte latios and latias.

“Laaa~!” And squeaking loudly at guests. Like her brother! And then practically bouncing around behind the counter as she waved at him, “La-La-Laaa!”

Leo frowned dissapprovingly. Someone could hear her, and humans only say La was suspicious wasn’t it. He walked over to the counter, and patted his sister on her head affectionately. She was okay, that was good. He pointed at a random drink to order.

Leo was getting worried about his sister, after not hearing from her for awhile. He walked to his sister’s work looking for her.

Merlin nodded quickly.  Who was he to not stay quiet about it?  He didn’t have nuzlocke anymore!  Merlin grabbed Leo in a tight embrace.  

“Th-thank you.”  He didn’t quite realize that this gift came with side effects.  

You’re welcome, Leo replied, hugging him back. I am a guardian. This is what we do.

Merlin was astonished.  “You… Took it away?”  How was that possible?  He felt different, better, suddenly as if his body was full of power that wasn’t his.  “You’re a pokemon?”  He gasped.  “You’re a legendary pokemon!”  

Leo looked around frantically, and pulled Paulo somewhere quieter. Yes, he nodded,I am Latios. Though, I do ask that you stay quieter about this...My sister and I are trying to...blend in with the humans. partake in their drinking of coffee and breaking of bread.

Merlin was startled by the sudden embrace.  Why was the silent man making Latios sounds?  He felt different all of a sudden.  He looked up at the other man curiously.  

“Wh-…?”  

You seemed sad about your nuzlocke earlier, The Latios replied, and since we are human friends, I decided to take it away. He smiled, and waited for the giving of thanks.

Leo got an idea. His human friend had to stop being a trainer because of his nuzlocke. He could take away his nuzlocke. Leo made his illusion run through the streets looking for Paulo. 

He beamed when he saw him, crashing in for a hug. “Lati~”He chirped proudly. He had an idea. He focused on blessing this human with his powers, and bounced on his heels when he was done. “La~”

Who was this guy?  He was being quite friendly and that made Merlin just a big uncomfortable.  However, Merlin didn’t feel threatened, just confused.

“I used to be.”  Merlin admitted.  “But I have nuzlocke and I’d rather care for my pokemon than battle with them.”  It hurt too much to see them die.  

Leo nodded. He saw the pain that his mini human goes through.

Why did his mini human seem so upset? He frantically made sure she wasn’t hurt. After ruling that out, he tilted his head curiously. What could be wrong? He held out his basket of bread to help her feel better.

It would be rude to run off now.  Merlin wondered what he could do for the stranger as a sign of thanks.  “Are you a trainer?”  He mused.  

Leo blinked. Why would he be a trainer? He was a Latios. Oh! But the human friend didn’t know that. He shook his head, no.

Paulo took the bread without thinking.  Then, he stared at it and then smiled up at the mute guy.  “Thank you.”  He took a little bite; it was good bread.  

Leo nodded, and bit into his own half. He succeeded in making a human friendship, and he got bread. This was such a good day.

And they were back to the touching.  At least it wasn’t unpleasant and there weren’t a lot of people around.  Apparently the guy liked his hair.  He seemed harmless but…  Merlin started coming up with an explanation for a hurried departure.  

Leo stopped ruffling his hair, and pulled out bread from his basket. he broke it in half, and offered some to Merlin.

Leo beamed and took that as permission to ruffle the human male’s hair again.
