EXT- Danvers Rambeau yard: DAY
Late Sunday afternoon Carol comes out covered in paint onto the back porch where a very pregnant Maria lays sipping orange juice and reading a magazine. Carol lays down in the grass and looks up at the sky. Maria looks down from her magazine.
It’s finished… ugh I can’t wait for her to arrive so she can see it, I used blues and pinks and everything in between.
I’m sure she’ll love whatever you did
Carol looks up at Maria who’s looking at her slightly distracted with the faintest smile on her face. She sits slightly up, opening her mouth to ask what the look was about when Maria snaps out of her trance.
Help me up off the ground and up the stairs so I can see it.
She springs from the ground and rushes to grab Maria’s hand but upon grabbing it, suddenly moves with a gentle carefulness. She helps Maria from the ground with her left hand, wrapping her right arm around Maria’s waist.
INT- Danvers Rambeau home - Day
They move into the house and up the stairs slowly, at Maria’s pace. Carol places her hand over Maria’s eyes as they reach the top of the stairs.
They turn the corner into the freshly painted nursery as carol removes her hand.
The ceiling is a beautiful stark purple with little stars of blue and white and orange. In the right corner just above the window was the corner of a large yellow sun, which turned the walls a lighter blue. On the left wall next to the closet was a rocket shooting up toward the ceiling, and the right wall having two fighter jets, each painted to match Carol and Maria’s respective jet decals, flying through them.
Maria gasps, covering her mouth with her hand. Carol stands back nervously.
Maria places her hand back in Carol’s and turns to face her
Like it? Carol it’s BEAUTIFUL!
She steps in to get a closer look.
I figured we could put the crib over by the jets and string a mobile down with more jets so it’s like we’re always flying over her.
Maria uses Carol’s hand to slowly lower herself onto the floor. She lays down to look up at the ceiling. Carol joins her. They stare silently up at the ceiling for a few seconds holding hands until
Carol turns to look at Maria
Aahh… ah I think she’s extatic about the room already.
Maria turns to look back to Carol’s gaze
You mean She’s kicking?! Really?!?
Maria pulls Carol’s hand to her stomach.
She winces at the sensation which was quickly losing its novelty.
Carol rubs her hand over Maria’s protruding belly.
Maria bunches Carol’s sweater up in her fist as she braces for the kicks
I think she LIKES having you as COMpany
The words were stifled as Maria felt the kicks. Carol sits up to rub Maria’s belly with her left hand while massaging the back of her neck with the right.
Hey there little troublemaker,
Hey, I know you’re excited to hear from me but cut your mom a break why don’t ya…
Carol rubs the spot with her thumb
Hey, I’m here little one… I’m right here…
Carol lays back down, resting her nose just above Maria’s ear. She curls her legs up around Maria’s as she uses Carol’s sweater to pull her in.
