Tip for establishing your character's personality -

If you ever feel like you don’t really know your character, or maybe if you think they don’t have a personality away from their significant other, here’s my advice for how to fix it - 

Go through this (positive) or this (negative) personality list. Pick out  maybe five or six traits and try to relate them to your character. It doesn’t have to be a trait that your character has, it could be how they react to said trait. For example, take the word “tough”. Character A dislikes girls who are too tough and independent because he was raised to take care of them in a chivalrous way, and it makes him feel like he isn’t needed in their lives. Using this method has helped me to develop characters past their initial relationships, so hopefully it will help you too!
