You talk a lot about true crimes on here. Can I ask your opinion on the Carmelo Anthony trial?
To be honest, I wasn’t surprised that he was found guilty, but I didn’t expect a 35-year sentence. I taught around 10 or 15 students. If I’m being honest, I don’t believe there was any point in this situation where he could have been free. I’ve noticed people making it racial, which, in my opinion, shouldn’t happen. He killed the person, so it’s insane to me that people are making statements like he should be free, especially since he claims self-defense when it wasn’t actually self-defense and he was the primary aggressor.
This also made me question whether people understand how trials work, because the information I’ve read is quite disturbing. I’ve seen discussions where people are angry that the black jurors were removed. Probably because they showed bias about finding him not guilty with all the evidence they had, so they were removed. The jury wasn’t all white, the bias showed by the black jurors was what got them removed. Which is actually normal in trials.
And the key witnesses who were responsible for his murder conviction were testimonies from black people who described what happened. With one of them being his own friend that was supposed to help his defense. Wrong is Wrong no matter the skin color. You can’t just go and stab someone in the heart and expect to walk freely. I think what’s also messed up is the fact that he was also expelled before for having a knife on school property.
You don’t bring weapons on school property simple as that. Another thing that helped his conviction is how terrible his lawyer was, literally the worst lawyer I’ve seen on suck a big case like this one. His parents got almost a million dollars in donation and it went to them buying new cars and house. Why could they get their son a good lawyer?
Ive been in track before most of my events, which were field events, but never in my four years of high school track did I ever go to another team tent.
It’s a heartbreaking situation for both families, as they both lose a son. However, I hope this serves as an example for parents to talk to their children.
