He first rose to fame in the 1970s as the lead vocalist of Black Sabbath, a band credited with pioneering the heavy metal genre. After his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979, Osbourne embarked on a highly successful solo career, further solidifying his status as a rock icon.Ā
Mr Osbourne's legacy extends beyond music. He became a prominent reality television personality in the early 2000s, starring in the popular MTV show "The Osbournes," alongside his wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack.
He was also a two-time inductee into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, once as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006 and again as a solo artist in 2024.
Additionally, Osbourne was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005, both for his solo work and as part of Black Sabbath. He also received other accolades, including stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Birmingham Walk of Stars, the Global Icon Award at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards, and the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2015.Ā

The Black Sabbath frontman, aged 76, made his final appearance at āBack to the Beginningā, a one-off charity concert inĀ Birmingham on 5 July. Reuniting with bandmates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler at Villa Park.
The show raised money for Cure Parkinsonās, Birmingham Childrenās Hospital and Acorns Childrenās Hospice, making it one of the highest-grossing charity gigs in history.
