This is an ambitious work, dealing with a wide variety of material, including advice to married women, arts, sciences, brewing, extermination of pests, conversation, cures for a variety of ailments (coughs, rheumatism, earaches, inflamed eyes, scurvy, etc.), preparing for death, domestic economy, the making of ink, instructions to the laundrymaid, old age, reading and writing, the preparation of various dishes, love and courtship, parental duties, pious reflections, observations for servants, weaning children, how to clean windows, short biographies of several notable ladies, and many others. The plates [several damaged] depict a variety of subjects ranging from the execution of Lady Jane Grey to the proper table settings for meals and desserts.
