Dreams

I envy people that only have the dream of "success", where their idea of success is to have more money. Instead, I have a dream to play music and nothing but that. An unachievable dream, because I can only ever play more music. My dream includes making other people happy instead of just myself. I truly envy those who only make themselves happy. That boring money making dream seams like a fantastic way to RUIN YOUR FUCKING LIFE. Have a little fun, have a REAL dream, get a hobby, enjoy something other than owning the latest electronic thing on the market like every other fucktard on the street. Buy a guitar, or a paint brush and create something, do it for you AND someone else. Don't get to the end and look back at a tonne of shit you can't take with you. Leave a legacy behind and if there is an afterlife of any sort, wouldn't you want to take something with you?

Gov't mule really know how to put on a show! Warren Haynes kicks major butt on that guitar. Devon Allman was even better the second time around. Awesome gig to end my run of insane shows. What a surreal week. Jimmy Vaughan, Robben Ford, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Beth Hart, James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite, Nikki Hill, Devon Allman twice and Gov't Mule.

Picture this: You’re 11 years old and you think you’re cool staying up late to watch The Guitar Show on TV, you see a performance unlike anything you’ve seen before; You’ve heard of Eric Clapton because main stream radio play Layla every day and same goes for B B King because Bono did that song with him “When Love Comes To Town”, but any other guitarists are just “who?” If they’re not Kirk Hammet or Angus Young. Up on the screen reads “B B King and Friends” and the band has four guitarists, B B King, Robert Cray, (a very young) Eric Johnson and some dude named Buddy Guy (maybe five, if Eric Clapton was there?). 
B B king does his thing and you think “wow, that’s the coolest thing I’ve heard”, Robert Cray starts to play and the same feeling, “what is this beautiful and awesome music?”. B B gestures for Eric to play and your jaw drops at the complexity of his playing, yet you can make out every single note of those lightning fast fingers unlike anyone you’ve heard before. The best is yet to come. All this time there’s this dude with a massive smile and wide eyes, so excited to be playing guitar, just waiting, playing some rhythm guitar. Then he steps up to bend a note from here to fucking oblivion! "WHAT??? What is that sound? That’s fucking incredible! I want to play that! The greatest thing I’ve heard from a guitar, from anything, just WOW! I want to do that!" On screen reads the name “Buddy Guy”. This name will stick in your head for the rest of your life, as one of the guitarists that made you really LOVE the guitar and understand you can do more than play basic chords to accompany singers. No this is much more. Fuck the singers, his guitar could sing by itself! Buddy Guy is the one guitarist that made me love the blues. Since then I’ve learnt about a lot of different styles of playing but it all stemmed from that point. He’s who really pricked my interest. Now you’re 26 and you get to see him perform live! You expect great but what you see and hear is the GREATEST FUCKING SHOW YOU’VE EVER SEEN! This happened last night! I will not forget this one in a hurry. Who said old dudes can’t play? Buddy Guy just keeps getting better!

During the Experience Hendrix tour, Zakk Wylde had one of his guitars stolen. How fucking low can people get? I know the whole "he'll claim it on insurance or could afford to buy ten more" thing and you can fuck off. Each guitar has it's own feeling even if you own 200. It's a low act to steal a musical instrument. Whether you're a millionaire and a famous muso or just a beginner in your room, having a guitar stolen would break your heart. Steal from the government instead, man.
