When the male lead and female lead make it to the end of the story without kissing
i’ve recorded a video update for the tgcf fangame i’m making. it was meant for my friends but i thought y’all might appreciate it too
please do ignore all the debug stuff
This is so dope
there's no more imagination or whimsy when it comes to shipping "why are we shipping two characters who haven't ever interacted" or "ships shouldn't exist in this show because it's not a romance/soap opera" WHEN HAS THAT EVER MATTERED ???? also like have they never heard of fanfiction??? we are actively losing the ancient texts and I hate it

Moments after Xie Lian's third ascension be like...
Feng xin and Mu Qing voted yes for both
Saw something that reminded me I really hate when people boil Hua Cheng’s sense of judgement/personality compared to Xie Lian as: he hates and resents everyone equally, except Xie Lian, and the people who are nice to Xie Lian, and everything Xie Lian believes in is silly but I’m supporting my wife in her work anyway kinda situation and like not understanding that their morality’s are actually incredibly similar they just are tonally different when they address situations because of their life experiences.
Xie Lian was born a prince, he was taught not to use violence excessively but to also be polite and respectful even when disagreeing with your fellow noble or God and then when he realised that was kinda bs, he became super traumatised, prone to the fawning response and also you are actively making yourself believe in the best from people and take each day one day at a time and how that makes you constantly feel disappointed but not surprised when people prove you right for being jaded. Now youve got to address the problem and diffuse any ill will, because you are taking it day by day, believing that people can get better.
Meanwhile you have Hua Cheng, who doesn't have that diplomatic upbringing or response. He grew up a poor, disfigured, street rat. He got to see how people treated people like him back then. So he always assumes that every person is guilty until proven innocent, and that's why he usually respects the people who have passed the test he’s set out in front of them. He is not surprised if they fail. He expects them to fail, and that’s why it’s easy to be mean and cocky because it is satisfying to see. He's seeing someone he saw as scum, prove they are, in fact, scum.
Like basically, Xie Lian tends to go into a situation thinking the worst, but hoping for the best, and Hua Cheng, who put money on you being the worst, is winning big because you’re the worst. That change from disappointment to gloating is why their personalities seem like nice-guy and bad-boy types who only care about themselves. Like they always forget that Hua Cheng has like 80 theology degrees and a doctorate in Dianxia worship, yet still believe he doesn’t care about a single thing Xie Lian cares about. Like he does actually believe the bare minimum is to treat people with basic human kindness and until you can prove you believe that too you do not deserve his respect or kindness.
They aren’t a good angelic character who indulges in their evil demon partner, who only pretends to be nice. They are both aggressive socialists, except Xie Lian is trying to fix the system, and Hua Cheng is an anarchist who’d rather throw out the whole system, and that’s like it. They aren’t good and evil; the whole point of this is that everyone is morally grey, and Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are the same shade. (The pinkish blue grey you get when you put red dyes with synthetic whites, to be specific.)

I bring a “there’s no meaningful difference between men and women that doesn’t exclude someone” to the function that gender essentialists hate
saw this on pinterest but i think it belongs here too

the drama on trans twitter rn is that a trans man has a trans girl oc who doesnt pass and is pre-hrt, and all the twitter tirfs are calling them transphobic and nasty for making a "characature" of a trans woman. this person also has an oc in the same story who is a also a trans woman who passes very well and is very feminine, and its clear the younger trans girl looks up to her, but conveniently everyone ignores this other character who isnt "clocky"
and all I can think is how sorry I feel for pre-hrt or non-passing trans girls who see this drama, see other trans women saying awful things about this character's small hips or her flat chest or broad shoulders or her height. how that makes her a characature and a transphobic hate symbol. and i just feel bad !!!! depictions of trans people who dont pass are important! those people exist and deserve love and representation!!!!
And if I said ending with an almost identical scene to season 1 isn't full circle but actually implies your characters haven't changed what then.
If someone could watch the season 1 scene and that scene and not understand there were major events in between you've done something wrong.
Romance pet peeve: If your love interests aren’t best friends (even once they’re together), you have a toxic view of relationships. Keep that shit away from me…
