OPEN STARTER

He was hunched over a simple plate of meat and cheese when he heard someone making their way into the room; scuffed footsteps increasingly audible in the silence of the kitchen. The servants had gone to sleep hours ago, hadn’t they? After all, there was scarcely anything for them to do so late - there were no more banquets, no more festivities. The castle was recovering, healing from within.  He had had refused to leave his family’s side, tending to his sisters in any way he could and staying awake through the nights; only belatedly realising that he had forgotten to sup. But he hadn’t expected to encounter anyone at this hour. 

“I - ” Anton glanced down at his meal, opting to ignore the half-empty bottle of wine by his hand, before glancing back up at the newcomer. “Yes, this is exactly what it looks like. Would you like some grapes?”

In amidst scouting out the palace in the dead of night (for she’d not yet had a chance too, having only arrived a few days prior), Günseli had accidentally happened across the kitchens (not that she could complain about her sense of direction where food was concerned) –– but presently, she was far more concerned about the other who was residing there. She was waiting for him to ask what she was doing lurking about in the dark, hoping her knives were still concealed in her sleeve as she came to a halting stop in the door frame, only for another question to sound in the room. 

Perhaps he didn’t care to know what she was doing in the early hours of the morning –– which suited her well enough. In turn, she didn’t particularly care for the bottle of wine in his hand, nor the food on the table –––– but rather whom the man was. She averted her attention to the grapes, before sauntering over and plucking one from the vine, her voice honeyed as she replied. “Well, suppose it’d be rude of me to decline ––– after already rudely interrupting you...Afedersiniz, I don’t believe we’ve met, who are you?”

what would your muse(s) be as a starbucks drink? any specific reason?

The Teavana® Shaken Iced Passion Tango™ Tea Lemonade (what a name). It is all heavily sweetened, like Günseli herself, but icy like her ‘stone-cold’ heart (in the words of an ex-friend). The hibiscus flower is very feminine, and symbolises beauty, love and passion. Lemongrass and lemonade, add a bit of sour, tartness ––– with lemon a symbol of bitterness and disappointment, but also wealth and fidelity. Apple is a symbol of love, fertility, and youth –––– and also links to the idea of the forbidden fruit and temptation.

What cocktail best fits your muse(s)?

The blood-red ‘Hot Blooded’ cocktail. Mostly because babe loves spice and heat. Whiskey, of course, which warms the body with a smoky, tobacco, oak flavour? Citrus in the form of blood orange, looking perfectly innocent on the exterior ––– hides a shocking red interior, and will low-key look like a crime scene when you cut it (Günseli’s forte). Agave for some sweetness. And to round the whole thing off, jalapeño to put the hot into hot blooded –– and to wheedle out the weak who can’t handle the heat.

Where would your muse(s) go on holiday & what type of holiday would it be?

Some place warm. Actually, piping hot. Like the desert? Let’s go with C A I R O, Egypt because babe would drink in all that culture –––– ‘insert image of her sipping Egyptian wine on a camel and looking out upon the Great Pyramid of Giza while dressed in silks here’. I’m imagining she’s already visited, probably on business (of the scheming sort), but Günseli would happily visit again on a more culture-immersive, luxury holiday. I imagine she also wants to adopt a Egyptian Mau cat and probably name it ‘Obi Wan Catnobi’.

♠ ─ the darkness that surrounded the palace didn’t seem to fade with time, though many of the injured were now up and about and the halls seemed to always be busy with the chattering of royalty and servants a like. but while the palace lead a front of calm acceptance and close friendship among the people, hwangbo knew better. death was always followed by chaos and it wouldn’t be long before people started to point fingers at the each other. 

    she needed a moment to ponder upon her next course of action.

the most natural solution to that had been to take to the gardens, children laughing in a distance while the youngest slumbered by her feet. so occupied were her thoughts with the problem at hand that hwangbo barely noticed the presence of another until her companion started to speak. lips parted to offer an affirmative, perhaps even excuse herself from the area ( for she did not want to talk, she merely wanted to sit and think ) but before hwangbo could give voice to her words, the other continued on with a sweet smile. 

    she was no fool to believe sweet smiles. hwangbo’s only weapons had been a     sweet smile and a vial of poison and with that she stole the throne of joseon     for her children.

“please, be at ease.” what more was there to say to someone who already had their mind made up? it didn’t look like she would be getting her time to think today. “i completely agree with you. in such times, my mind takes to the paints to rid myself of the nightmares.” a smile was given in return, sharp edged and red. “i would love to know more of my companion for the afternoon. i feel so very alone in this foreign land and any friendly face is such a welcome.”

“Well, if you insist.” The brunette had a habit of turning and twisting others words around, to serve her own endeavours, give her control in a conversation, or make the other doubt their position –––– all done under a most charming facade. Winsome smile fixed on her lips in agreement, she’d already begun to paint, choosing the gardens in their seasonal transition as her subject matter, swirls of reds, oranges and pinks filling a canvas ––– though her attention was more solely focused on the woman a few feet away, whom was offering her own smile. “Günseli Hanım, my lady. My husband and I arrived only a few days past from Turkey –– it seems our timing was most fortuitous in that regard. Please advise me on what else would you would like to hear...? I will happily oblige, for a friendly face is my most favourite kind ––– though, that all depends on whom you are.”

An eyebrow was slightly raised as she looked over her shoulder, before continuing to paint. She already knew, of course ––– but Joseon’s queen consort didn’t need to know that. For Günseli, the chance of an advantageous connection or like-minded companion would surpass any need for grievances or stirring trouble ––– but it would all depend upon whether she found the woman’s character worthy of such.

CLOSED STARTER FOR @gashxna

Having just ventured into the gardens, lugging a wooden easel in her tow ––– Günseli was met by the sight of another figure painting, and pursing her lips, feigned a look of concern. “–––Oh, you won’t mind if I join you, you won’t refuse me – will you, kıymetli?” Giving the woman no time to object, her words offered more like the declaration of a F A C T than an actual question, the hanım continued on: with wide eyes and a winsome simper appearing on her expression, before setting up her easel and pulling out various paintbrushes and paints. “–––Olağanüstü! I do love to paint. Especially now, under present circumstances, with such sorrow and scepticism about –– we must immerse ourselves in the beautiful and tranquil, mustn’t we?”

Of course, for her, this was no chance occurrence. Rather, a planned crossing of paths –––– one she’d not waited long to embark on since arriving to the peace summit (which at present, seemed in utter disarray)...in hopes of gleaning more understanding on the whispers surrounding the Joseon line ––– and the circumstances of a series of convenient deaths. She was no stranger to misfortune, nor death, after all ––––– and like a moth to a flame, a mind like hers was quick to latch onto any glimmer of scandal, scheming or skulduggery.

Needless to say, the pirate hardly appreciates the little inspection she performs on his flask before doing the simple task of delivering it to him. Being at the mercy of a stranger’s kindness was a situation he’d be damn sure to never put himself in again. Especially in a place surrounded by aristocrats. All bastards, the lot of them. Pompous arses.   ❛  Yes.  ❜   The affirmation is given through gritted teeth, patience wearing thinner by the second. Once the flask is within his reach, he does his best to yank it off her hand, but in his weakness the only result is a mildly forceful grabbing of it. Any movement more abrupt would bring him a world of pain he wasn’t too keen on experiencing.  ❛  From the likes of you? Certainly not. You’d make a poor excuse for a servant.   ❜

The only inclination of her facade faltering was the flaring of her nostrils, but her W I N S O M E smile did not slip from her lips as he said what she supposed was intended as an insult. Instead, Günseli tilted her head in an almost animal way, the jewels around her neck clinking –––– beautiful, though actually poison-laced vials. “You’re not dead yet...” She began, voice silvery as she offered an underlying threat, harshly patting the man’s shoulder with hopes of causing him pain –––– all she could do with her husband waiting outside (she’d promised not to kill anyone on their first day in the city). “Let’s try keep it that way, hm?”

the tavern was SMALL and dimly lit, as all taverns usually are. magdalene seemed at ease with her surroundings and was dropped into a wooden chair on the far side of the room, in the corner, facing all exits. a few tables were occupied by men, all sitting alone some dressed in worn-looking workingmen’s clothing and some dressed in finer fabrics. a pint glass was in hand, the pirate’s eyes shifting to look at a woman ( a gorgeous brunette with deep brown eyes, a deep neckline on her dress showing off her cleavage that would surely appease the male clientele in the tavern ) wiping one of the messy tables with a cloth. she was bent forward over the table, her hair falling in her face. her eyes then shifted again slightly to the person close by herself. aside from the alcohol that dulled the pain in her leg from the attack earlier, she had nothing to complain for. she wondered whether some of the patrons here had come for a little escape as the swiss castle came back into daily order. striking some conversation, brought on mostly by the beer she turned to the nearest person from her chair. ❝ why are you gracing this LOVELY establishment, may i ask? ❞

Averting her gaze from the barmaid in front of her to the individual aside her, Günseli raised a brow at the attractive woman, swirling the wine in her cup. “––––Would you like the truth...or a lie?” Eyes again shifted, scanning the tavern, a rather foreign establishment to the hanım, her husband somewhere in its bounds. “....After a long, gruelling journey, I’ve arrived to the city today only to find our dear Sultan dead, apparently along with a great number of the palace’s other inhabitants ––––– and feel the only course of action is to get entirely inebriated before making an appearance there...I don’t particularly handle distress and consolation well.” With a sigh, she let her explaination fall there, letting the woman think what she wished of her motives, decide what was truth or what was not. “––Might I return the question, ıska?”

the recommendations had been clear: to not push his limits. he was to rest, until his bones ached no more and he could afford to move on his own. getting up from the dreadful position of an invalid on that bed had proved quite difficult with the deplorable state of his ribs. the one time he had been stubborn enough to get on his feet, the pain had dulled his senses and he soon returned to his imprisonment. a cross pirate lies there  (  where, exactly, he is doesn’t know. they’d only brought him in there, and he hadn’t gotten out since  )  aching for something that will break his dull routine  –––  which was lying right there on the table in front of him. when he hears footsteps entering, he does not hesitate to make his request.  ❛  before you do anything, do me a favour  –––  bring me that flask over there, will you? i am parched.  ❜

With a leisurely movement, Günseli picked up the flask in question, swirling it, turning it, trying to discern its contents –––– before finally lifting her gaze, dark eyes settling upon the man with a sickly smile on her lips ––––– whom appeared to have taken quite a beating in the invasion. “...This flask?” She wasn’t the helpful sort, at least, not by choice. B U T, for her sake, and that of her husband, she had to at least make an effort to maintain an appearance of geniality ––––– for patience was a virtue, and their journey was not in vain. Rounding the bed, she extended her arm out, the flask at its end. “Is there anything else I can do for you, sör? While I’m here, suppose I may as well play servant.”

“it is merely bruised.” words murmured calmly, as she placed ice on her knuckles, which were swollen from the night before. genevieve had inflicted a lot more pain than just PUNCHES, but the gunpowder fragments had been washed off her clothes and it was the only mark left on her. eyes darted upwards to the person watching her. “i am much luckier than some.”

“Bruised?...Have you had it tended to, kıymetli?” Günseli looked to the woman with a questioning brow, having only arrived that morning to a palace wrought with death and disquiet, still reeling from an assault the night prior. Dagger concealed up her sleeve, another in her boot, the ill-behaved, selfish part of the woman was mildly disgruntled to have bypassed the opportunity for enacting her own bloodshed––– a feeling only elevated by questions and uncertainty surrounding the intruders ––––––– and the Sultan’s assumed death. “It’s any wonder more were not slain.”

( fahriye evcen özçivit, 29, she/her ) silence! can you not see her grace, günseli hanım özdemiroğlu, has arrived? it seems the hanım from the ottoman empire is here to support their monarch. they are called the cygnet around the court. have you tried approaching them? i heard they can be rather self-involved + ill-behaved, but their staff say that they’re winsome + persuasive.  

first of all shout out to the admins for putting up w me and helping educate me w the ottoman empire/turkish ranks, etc. in making günseli’s character! also apologies in advance since fahriye has next to no resources so i’ll use gifs when and where i can, otherwise interactions will be done with the static icons i made (but don’t feel the need to use icons yourself!)

now to günseli (apologies this time for the nonsense ur about to read?/)...

definition of looking like a cinnamon bun but actually being a sinnamon bun™. günseli is a bit of a snake and trouble-maker and low-key dangerous but acts all lovely and charming. she has a bit of a reputation for questionable behaviour and not taking things seriously but is persuasive and likeable so people don’t (or don’t dare) really challenge her/confront her about it? likes gossip and being in the know @ court drama, i’m gonna say she’s only just arrived following the attack especially since kasim is assumed dead/disappeared and she wants to know what is the haps w everything and papa özdemiroğlu wants to know but was also like ‘yay roadtrip’

born and raised in marash (now called kahramanmaraş) in the ottoman empire, and the eldest of six other siblings (two brothers, two sisters, two half-sisters), günseli holds title of hanım, in her case an aristocratic title achieved through her father’s rank. mama özdemiroğlu is from circassia and papa özdemiroğlu is a turkish bey (equivalent to a governor of a district or province but in the ottoman empire) of the marash (also called dulkadir) beylerbeylik. 

though günseli and her sisters were confined to the harem most of the time, papa özdemiroğlu doted on his sons and daughters, and given the war they were all taught in the art of war and combat (sand snakes from got i’m headcanoning it), all “my daughters are trained for battle, sir, not the kitchen” kinda dealio and they were used to getting what they want ( not really exposed to the tragedy/downside of war as her family prospered and every death she encountered was at her own hand?). she has a pair of jewel encrusted and gold engraved daggers on her person at all times (one up her sleeve, one in her boot) and necklace with vials of poison. babs probably favourite way to kill a person is ‘kiss o death’ style via ellaria sand with poison on her lips (antidotes are important people)

as a young woman in the harem of the family house günseli explored and experimented with her sexuality with the female domestic workers and was told/exposed to certain things by the concubines (including seduction but also make poison from oleander plants which grew nearby). when she was younger she was to be betrothed to another but günseli didn’t like him/couldn’t stand to be around him bc he was too tame and boring for her liking and persuaded her parents to not go through w it. 

another betrothal later (babs being like ‘he’ll do’) she married (to either nobility from the empire or another country in the coalition - will be making a wanted connection for this unless someone is interested, also bc of this her current residence is tbc) also headcanoning their relationship basically like oberyn martell and his paramour ellaria sand’s bc they’re my otp, in love as the ride-or-die, trouble-causing, revenge-seeking, and general-scheming sort (to benefit themselves and/or their nations)and persuading the hubby to do things. since babs is pansexual and a little promiscuous and is polyamorous (modern au she would totally be in a polygamous relationship) 

in other news, one of her siblings (her younger sister) turned up dead over the last year and another has gone missing (her younger brother). günseli has her suspicions and is determined to find answers and enact her own vengeance if necessary

despite her fickle ways and liberal view towards sex and sexuality and life, she is devoted to her family and attraction or affection for any other person will never compare to that for her current husband (the only ones she is soft™ for is her boo and babies). has two children one son who is five and a daughter who is three, but babs left them w the fam bam back in marash since she didn’t want to risk them coming and the journey was long. babs is super nosy, either going to want to kill or kiss or manipulate those she meets, likes painting and judging you™ (even better if she’s doing both at the same time). needs pals (especially ladies who get drunk and diss on other people), also some people to use to her own advantage/make into her puppets and...

i think thats it?/ for now?? idk
