“ Now why you gotta go and use my full government name like that ? “ Leo smacked his lips before chuckling , shaking his head as he took a few more fries into his mouth . The side of his temple pulsating in a rhythm with his chewing . “ Now who said I ain’t bring you none ? Here — “ He tossed the bag over , leaning back as he rubbed his fingers on a nearby napkin . Tossing his arm over the side of the couch , he shrugged his shoulders before nodding over a booth in the corner . “ ‘Cus we got company in here and I just wanna keep things chill tonight . “ Definitely a couple of goons who were scoping out the place — not regulars , not from around here . Lookin’ sus as hell . 

With the absolute most dramatic eye roll he could muster up, Aiden glared a hole into the side of Leo’s head. Without blinking or missing a beat, his hand shot out to snatch the bag out of the air and pull out his own little carton of fries, angrily shoving a few into his own mouth as he casually surveyed their surroundings until he spotted exactly what Leo was talking about. “We tryna keep things chill or do we have a plan of attack here? Cause I don’t like the look of them guys and I don’t think chill is in their vocabulary.” He answered with a slightly less grumpy attitude laced in his voice now that he had his own fries. Like a fuckin’ toddler calming down because he got a treat.

“What do you think you deserve?” It’s an honest question — kind eyes and all. It’s a struggle which ripples and can be felt in the air, like Aiden is always thinking of something that shouldn’t be thought about. If only he could use his skills to right the feeling right out of him. It’s late in the night, and Rahi had been charmed in by the promise of a sneak peek at Aiden’s brand new build. A suggestion here, a correction there — the engineer in him can’t help it. Now, it’s just beers and banter. “You don’t actually think you’re the bad guy.” 

The sincere, softness in which Rahi handled him always seemed to leave Aiden feeling like that scared street kid once more, learning how emotions worked and that it was okay to have them. The sheer kindness sitting behind the other man’s eyes sent a sharp feeling through his chest that sent tingles down to his fingertips and made him put down the tools he was currently holding. What did he think he deserved? Nothing. A soft sigh pushed out of his mouth and he slumped back into the couch with his beer one hand as the other dragged slowly down his face as if he could just rub that feeling off. “I absolutely think I’m the bad guy, I have nothing to prove otherwise. I don’t deserve shit, man. I’ve worked my ass off to get everything I got and I still don’t feel like I deserve any of it.” He answered back with that same soft, hesitant honesty.

Aiden’s life worked in a series of routines strictly followed, from his home life to his work life and everything in between. It was what kept his deadlines well ahead of the necessary dates, what made him the best at what he did. His routine was absolutely important to him..... but not as important as a coffee and a good fuckin’ pastry. Which is the only reason he was putting himself even slightly behind by standing outside the door of Chateau Dough knocking ever so gently at the door to catch someone’s attention. He simply could not function if he didn’t have something warm and sweet to start his morning..... well he could, but he’d be a fuckin’ dick about it. As soon as the door opened, Aiden smiled at the spattering of powdered sugar already attached to the woman’s sleeves and shook his head. 

“You’re perfectly alright, sugar. Your zone produces some of the best eats this side of the city. I’m happy to wait for what you got. A Rugelach sounds amazing, actually? I’ll also take two of whatever you recommend.” He answered easily, a smile growing on his face.

Caoimhe had a sweet smile on her face, albeit a confused one at the nickname until she realized what she’d been doing before opening the door and how the evidence was clear as day on her apron and her clothes, “Ah, ha ha, sugar.” She smiled as she walked back over behind the counter, beaming at the compliment, “Oh, thank you! I know I’m not Starbucks or anything but I do my best.” Caoimhe made quick work to the backroom where the Rugelach were cooling, bringing the tray out front. “Well, the vanilla filling is a crowd favorite and the cinnamon honey but I’m experimenting with savory fillings too. Not sure if you want to risk it this morning.”

Aiden chuckled softly once more at her checking her sleeves and drawing the conclusion for the nickname, shaking his head as he followed her to the counter and carefully tucked one hand in his pockets. “Got a little excited this morning with the sugar?” He teased her gently, returning her bright, beaming smile with a small, almost flirty smile of his own. “You do more than your best, you’ve got me absolutely hooked. Starbucks ain’t got nothin’ on you.” He responded immediately, leaning forwards to look over the choices closely. “I think I’ll do a cinnamon honey and let you choose me a savory filling out of the new ones, I’ll be your guinea pig happily. Risky is my middle name.” It took a second, but even Aiden cringed at his poor attempt at a joke.

Caoimhe could not beat the smell of freshly baked bread, it was quite literally the most euphoric feeling being in the bakery and prepping things for the day ahead. She loved seeing the smiles on peoples' faces when they'd watch from the window as she baked and the way their eyes would widen when she'd bring out a new item. Caoimhe took great pride in her work and always held great expectations for herself when it came to her business. She'd been so wrapped up in dusting powder sugar over a few pastries when she heard a knock at the door; checking her watch she realized the bakery needed to be opened. Caoimhe rushed to the door, powder sugar evident on her sleeves as she unlocked the door and officially opened the bakery, "I'm so sorry! The time just got away from me there, kind of in the zone. How about a pastry on the house? The Rugelach is fresh from the oven with a variety of fillings!"

Fresh hot coconut coals sizzle against the perforated foil-covered hookah bowl . Leo cursed to himself when his disposable mouth piece hit the floor just as he was getting ready to put it in the pipe. However, the server had more than several to give away, handing a fresh one over to the male . A content smile etched upon his face as he got comfortable in the rounded , cushioned booth . Kicking up his foot over his knee , he inhaled the icy peach tobacco mix — exhaling through his nose with a satisfied sigh . Leaning forward , he took a few fries out of his Jack-In-The-Box bag , nodding over to the other on the opposite side. “ Had to grab some dinner first — food prices are kinda nuts here . Plus , I was cravin’ some curly fries . You don’t mind do you ? “

There was no good reason for Aiden to be in this establishment, no real desire behind the smoking bowl in between the two of them well past Aiden’s preferred bedtime, but here he was, watching Leo’s bitch ass fumble with literally fucking everything while popping fries into his mouth. “Do I fuckin’.... do I MIND, Leonardo?” He expressed with a grumpy expression. “There better be a damn good reason you dragged my ass out this fuckin’ far on a work night and had the fuckin’ audacity to get curly fries and not bring me none. The ultimate disrespect, fuck outta here, fucks wrong witchu?”
