Ethylene Glycol (antifreeze) toxicity. One of the nastier toxins we see, these dogs presented 12hrs + after consumption so emesis was not preformed given that its rapidly absorbed. Both dogs showing some symptoms - euphoria, muscle tremors, increased heart rate. We do not stock Fomepizole - so treatment is ethanol (absolut vodka to be precise!) Vodka is diluted with dextrose 1:1 and administered as a CRI rather than bolus as its safer and less likely to cause drunkenness/alcohol intoxication.
