Really excited to share this work. #where_you_come_from_is_gone opens Friday 6-8 at @lowemillarts in Huntsville, Ala.
Making plates near the former site of Turkey Town, a Cherokee village and home to the last Cherokee King, Chief Pathkiller. We are making photographs for our coming exhibition, "Where you come from is gone," at @lowemillarts opening July 7th.
Took the mobile darkroom out today to photograph some old mining sites in west Birmingham.
We took our wet plate gear out on the road for the first time today, with our mobile dark room in the back of Jared's truck. After a left turn off of Hwy 79 to follow a winding road through Little Shenandoah we met Miss Polly and Mister Clyde. They were out in their pasture "turd draggin" (clearing cattle manure). Polly and Clyde have been married for more than 50 years and their families have been farming in Blount County for three generations.
Our best good friend, movie-maker, merry-maker, and photographer, Orlando Thompson II. The man's got Insta accounts for dayz -- follow them: @youngarsenio @72shots @tbs_podcast
Here's the plate from the previous video. #tintype @znader
Our first successful daylight exposure, made today with Brooklyn-based artist Zach Nader (@znader) who is in town for his solo exhibition, "fly-back," currently on view at UAB's Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts through March 18.
Katie Davis, farm director of @jonesvalleyteachingfarm and all around wonderful human.
GUSDUGGER will be at the 2016 Birmingham Artwalk Sept. 9-10, where we will offer individual and group Civil War era wet plate collodion tintype portraits using our vintage large format cameras, hand-crafted chemistry, and new on-site mobile darkroom. Find us at the Literacy Council at 2301 1st Ave N. on Friday, Sept. 9, 5-10pm and Saturday, Sept. 10, 10am-6pm. Walk-ups are welcome, or schedule a sitting in advance by emailing [email protected].
