Kath's The Buzz Interview

Question #1 – Are DJ & her officially in a relationship.

So I saw that particularly KNs reacted to her interview andwere affected by her answers regarding her status with DJ relationship wise. I get you guys (those who were affected) want kilig answers and what not, but sometimes it’s not all about that. But technically you guys shouldn’t be affect if you consider the reasoning behind her answers.

I always read comments like ‘They don’t need to confirm their status, we know what they really are to each other’ so why react such a way to her answer when you guys yourselves said time and time before that you guys know that they more than that. As far as that question goes, I honestly think they shouldn’t have even bothered asking. We shouldn’t have expected a yes from her because there are a handful of aspects to consider—the biggest one being her religion. I don’t know much about INC’s regulations and what not but apparently it’s been brought about that she can only date within her religion, so obviously unless DJ has converted to INC without it being announced, there’s no way they’d expect a yes to that answer. Imagine how much more heat of controversy and issue that would sprout had she say yes, religion’s a big one.

But as far as I know, it’s not the dating outside the religion is the actual restriction—its not allowed to MARRY outside their religion. So technically, she shouldn’t ever get hammered for it if word finally gets out that they are indeed ‘officially’ together. So to give some kilig aspect, just think the fact that that was mentioned, for all you who wish and hope these two actually end up together, (myself included) the fact Kath mentioned that last year for her 18th, it clearly shows they’re in it for the long term and that they’ve obviously thought about that– that hopefully if things work out, that’ll be something  they’re going to have to deal with in the future. Just like when DJ was asked about converting, that is pressure on the guy not cause of the converting itself per say,  but to me more on cause that’s a sign of marriage really. Asking a 19 year old that kind of thing is big, it’s still uncertain if they’re going to actually end up together or not, but without a doubt I’m sure that if cards are played right and they make it through it would be no issue for either of them to convert to the other’s religion in order to be allowed to marry. I heard that her sister converted to be with her husband. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kath did the same, but since they are public figures, I feel in this case the mass would expect DJ to convert considering he is ‘the man’. Lol. Ok back to my main point about her answer to this question haha!

Now, the MAIN reason I strongly believe these two have not admitted is that the management is controlling that aspect now. I for one believe they are together. That ligaw stage? Pft, that’s over, you can tell. There is obvious difference from their first years together how DJ was indeed making ligaw and their bond grew stronger. We witnessed these two grow from good friends to close friends to something much more. How sweet is that? They were obviously only friends in GU and beginning of PAI was when DJ really made it official that he has interest and he wants to basically court her. And as that year went on (2012) we witness Kath falling for him in return. Until we got the pleasure of hearing from DJ himself during MBL presscon that they have a mutual understanding. You saw the sincerity and the happiness they felt in being able to share that. No hint of hesitation or restriction that they have to hide their status. So obviously around that time sooner or later they must’ve became official. And when that happened you guys can clearly see the difference in the way they answer when asked about their status. Instead of being confident whether it’s just still courting or it’s M.U. you see there’s that hint of not wanting to answer cause they don’t want to lie but at the same time they have to. They get awkward when asked. Why be awkward if there isn’t anything right? So back to what I was saying, obviously the management is the one that’s telling them to keep their relationship in wraps as far as admitting they are indeed together. That’s my opinion though. But we’ve seen it in a handful of couples in the past as well though. This is what I dislike. Like with Kimerald, they  were together but they never stated it officially mostlikely cause the management told them not to—for the mystery and keep the kilig for the fans to keep guessing for the loveteam to continue to thrive. We only found out that it was after they broke up. This is what I don’t want to happen to KN. That they get suppressed by the management about this and that we end up only finding out that they were ‘officially’ together if they breakup. Cause then we hear bad comments like ‘Oh why is she affected they were never together anyways’ or ‘They were together this whole time why didn’t they just admit it’. I also read up on how Jericho had to hide his relationship with I forgot her name when him and Kristine broke up and pretend that they were still together for the sake of the loveteam. Such situations clearly shows how the management has control over the ‘big’ love teams. So I just hope at least sometime in their 20’s or when they’ll end up separating as a loveteam that the management allows them to finally admit it.

Now for the follow up question about allowing DJ to court other girls.

Ok. So this is what some  KN’s got affected over right? I don’t see anything wrong with what she said—she’s right. That’s on DJ if he wants to court another girl—AKA be with another girl. She doesn’t have control over that. Also, it doesn’t make sense for her to deny that they are together beforehand and then answer this question with oh no he’s mine! Right? That would be her saying one thing and then saying the opposite the next. She only answered right in which it makes sense with what she answered before. And I love how she pointed out that this boy is only 19. I found maturity with her answering that. She understands that they are young and that even though it’s what they hope that they do end up together, it’s still unsure right now. Her answering that she doesn’t want to make him feel tied down to her because he’s still young shows so much wisdom and maturity. It’s not that she’s saying that she’s letting him go free and date other girls because he is young still, it’s just that sense of open mindedness that hey he is with me right now but we are still young so let’s not make it out to the world that he can only be committed to me. In reality, she actually is saving him from any future issue really if another one sprouts up like last year about that audio scandal. What many reacted to negatively towards him cause they grew comfortable to knowing and believing that DJ only has eyes for Kath, at least with that answer he can’t get much heat like he did. It is just sad that she has to answer that way having considered that they are together that way and what not. But I appreciate that she said that cause it takes out the pressure that many have for them/for DJ that they have to end up together if anything. Cause I know we want that to happen, but we don’t want to make them feel pressured to the point that they may feel like they’re getting suffocated and then step away from it.

Cause reality, they are still young. Yea DJ had his fair share of some dating and having a couple girlfriends, while Kath never having been with anyone yet, but so much can still happen. There are still so many people they are going to meet, and you just never know. I’m not trying to sound like a pessamist with that but that’s the truth. The last thing they need is that feeling of being pressured to have to end up together. We want that to happen for them naturally and with their willingness, not the feeling of being forced to to make us fans happy.

Lastly, I never found Kath to be the type that answers to give kilig anyways. She’s always so open minded and direct when she answers questions as far as I noticed. Hence when asked about allowing third parties to enter the picture, she simply couldn’t say no I don’t allow him to court other girls—she leaves that decision to him, which is his alone. He should be with whoever he wants to, and we all know that its Kath, so no worries you guys! Not every relationship is perfect and somewhere down the road someone else is going to come along and they are either going to make you’re relationship stronger or tear it down. We were fortunate to see that it didn’t tear them down but indeed made them stronger. Same with her answer for DJ’s sake about him allowing others to court her—she answers I don’t know because that is a question DJ is to answer; she doesn’t give answers that are assumptions even though I’m sure we all know the answer like Toni said is N-O! Lol!

She made it clear that they are special to one another, that is enough for me, that should be enough for all of us to be content. Their actions speak louder than the answers they end up giving in confrontational interviews like this. It’s expected they’ll deny it. But be confident that they are something more than that. They wouldn’t last this long if in truth they are off letting third parties in the picture. Just think about their GGV in Dec. ’13 about how DJ made it clear how he wouldn’t allow her to just hang out with the opposite sex and how Kath agreed that it’s likewise. J 

All better? Hahaha. I mean I’m pretty sure they’re official because their answers vary and grow more awkward when asked like I said earlier. M.U. Exclusively dating to recently saying they’re just friends ahahah.

this episode brought me to tears and  kb’s performance is just superbly  acted.  this right here, is what  separates her from the other newbies, she can naturally act and you can’t say otherwise.

intense first week

powerful acting from main and supporting actors,  psy has a lot of surprises up their sleeves ..just wow. very impressive i must say.

whoever questions acting ability of kb is obviously not a fan, so stay out of your tv and skip this soap and pray hard that maybe someday your fave actress will be as good as she is,yes?  thanks.

 kb should lose the heavy  makeup and the gorgeous hair. her natural pretty face and sun kissed skin is good enough for a  barrio setting.  also she should try and breathe well through her nose when she cries  because she tends to sound nasally.  ..but of course, not my place to dictate..haha..just minor observations. …she does look super pretty onscreen. no need to bring up her acting capabilities..pffft..she’s gonna nail it. just watch.

She’s Dating the Gangster

As I once mentioned, I seldom watch movies more so nowadays, and let alone a Tagalog one. Besides, the movie I am about to speak of was shown almost a year ago. Still, I opted to write this simply because it left quite an impression with me.  And need I mention that I am a sucker for romantic comedies?!

This particular movie was a blockbuster hit during its run. I had first-hand feedback from one close to me that it was surprisingly good. Not that I don’t believe her but needless to say, I didn’t watch it then. Since it has been quite some time, it was finally shown on a local cable channel and curious as I was by that time, I made sure I watch it. As the closing credits were popping up on screen, straightaway, I knew what the buzz was all about.

Personally, this movie touched me in so many levels. The 90s timeline was like walking down memory lane. It was my time, after all: the beeper, the Eraserheads and “gangs”. Some of my friends and I were Eraserheads fans that we would go whenever they play on some campus. I felt like I was on some time machine watching it. Sadly though, the movie could’ve included some more music from the 90s as that era had an extensive music selection. Aside from that, I will be daring and say that this movie is fast approaching most favorite status. It’s that good in my humble opinion. Suffice it to say that I neither read the Wattpad series nor the book. I do plan on getting the book and well, I’d have to find the series since I was told it was already taken down from Wattpad. And so for now, this movie is my standard. Once again I am reminding everyone that this is my sort of review so for anyone (is there? really?!! what are you waiting for?!!) who hasn’t seen it, spoiler alerts ahead. Let me just say this then, I soooo loooove this movie.

First, casting Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo in this movie was a stroke of genius. Why? It’s simply because in my opinion, Richard and Dawn was like the ultimate love team back then. And who doesn’t know about Daniel and Kathryn, currently dubbed as the Teen King and Queen. Enough said.

Second, I loved how the movie is neither simple nor complicated. Basically it is a love story in its purest form. The twist though was really remarkable at least for me. The sacrifice Athena made despite the fact that she herself is suffering from a grave condition that in itself is something truly rare. And Kenji, what can I say, I admire his great love for Athena that even if reluctant, he let her go. Romantic comedy junkie that I am, I felt every emotion and embraced each one. This movie gave me such a high that it makes me want to watch it over and over again. Much credit goes to the author of the book, the creative team behind the scenes and the director Cathy Garcia-Molina who I would say might just become my favorite director, a first mind you.

To say that this movie is the coming of age for both Kathryn and Daniel is something I definitely agree with. They have shown growth and maturity and I cannot wait to see more. And don’t get me started on those beautifully executed scenes. Don’t even ask what my favorite scene was or else this might just become a book. Okay, fine I have several favorite scenes but one of the most touching was towards the end when Kenji finally saw Athena again and for the last time (tissue please!!!).

Lastly, I would like to quote Kenji in his speech at the start of the movie, “If there is a force greater than love, it is time. Timing is such a bitch. Lucky are those who find true love at the right time. “ So true Kenji, so true….

Of Chemistry, Charisma & That Phenomenon Called KathNiel #PSYangPaglalapit

You sit there thinking you’ve seen and felt everything you can feel, but the universe surprises you yet again.

And it comes in two beings who, arguably, the Powers That Be, seem to have deemed as partners, destined - soulmates, perhaps.

You consume what you can of them because Merlin knows you can’t get enough.

And the reason still baffles you to this day for you have been a fangirl all your life, and save one or two other thespians, you can always justify why you’re a fan of whomever.

This time around, it is- like them - unexplainable.

You tried looking at it from all angles, tried to rationalise the need or want to consume their bodies of work; why they’ve carved a niche in both your personal & fangirl life similar to only one other fandom, that of Harry Potter.

You have seen this before, this mass hysteria, as you sit inside MOA Arena: deranged screaming by virtue of a promise of a name or a face; the blind loyalty; the fierce dedication; of lives & relationships changing because of a brandname.

KathNiel was never a plan, parts of their phenomenon I didn’t want to delve deeper into, but you willingly go back to them.

And you have no reason as to why you go back - you just find yourself in front of your telly with unexplained emotions, that between death & flailing.

It’s the chemistry.

Yes, partly.

They have charisma, individuallly and more together.

That is also true.

But the one thing that makes KathNiel, KathNiel, is that they are enigmatic.

You think you know them, but in every guesting, in every interview, in every magazine cover, you know they hold something back, and it’s that something that makes you stay.

It’s not even the fact that they are mum about their personal life — it’s them: Kathryn & Daniel that are still both a mystery.

It’s a Cate Blanchett type of enigma.

So you came back, to try and piece together in your head the answer; you fail of course.

It does help that they’re bloody good thespians, and that they’re kind & humble people.

The chemistry , the charisma, the enigma all of these are factors why KathNiel is a brandname but it’s not the entire picture.

And that unknown, undetermined reason is why they are the phenomenon that they are.

If the formula were known, then their wannabees wouldn’t have had such a hard time replicating their fandom & success.

OF COLOURS, CHARACTERS & A CLASSIC STORY

You hear the refrain over and over in your head, of that familiar tune which you fell in love with 14 cycles and 12 moons ago. 

It was a story you knew – or you thought you knew. 

Pangako Sayo was a legend. 

It still is. 

It’s a classic story of love wrapped in everything the genre of soap opera brings: villains, heroes, redemption, revenge, anger, hope; and of course, that mystic, fabled “Happy Ever After”.

It was a story which had a definitive beginning, middle and ending; all of which are still remembered to this day. 

Pangako Sayo was our own version of DALLAS or M.A.S.H. or the Cosby Show: it was a show which changed the landscape of Philippine television. 

Was there anything left to tell? 

That’s the challenge of this 2015 retelling - not remake! - of Pangako Sayo. 

And by jove, the first two episode proved that challenge to be founded. 

VISUAL MASTERPIECE

The opening shot alone was enough to make me drool – the entire first episode was a feast to my eyes. 

It was cinematic. 

It reminded me of a long-shot of the first time we saw The Shire in “The Lord of the Rings” 

To use social media language, the first two episodes were, ‘scenic porn’. 

The choice of songs and camera shots were aptly used to develop the romance between Eduardo & Amor. 

The colours were also utilised to foreshadow the 2015 timeline: red for Claudia & orange for Amor, anger and rebirth, respectively. 

CHARACTER DEPTH: 

You will root for Amor and Eduardo this time around. 

You will emphatise with Claudia better. 

The layers which will bring complications to the Yna and Angelo romance will, seemingly, have more depth. 

And that is because all of these five characters, if the first two episodes are any indication, are more fleshed out. 

They’re more you and me than cartoonish characters you just happen to watch on a black box in the middle of your living rooms. 

The fabric that continues to unravel before us will prove to be the binding forces that will make Yna and Angelo’s story more human because those before them were also drawn out sketches in our head; this time, Amor, Claudia and Eduardo are characters & not just plot devices for the young lovers’ journey to forever.

AN EPIC-IN-THE-MAKING

The fanatics of the original should be proud of how much effort the network gave to ensure that a retelling was not a cheap remake. 

They did the legacy of the original proud. 

They respected that material, but it’s quite obvious they continued to delve deeper to all corners of this universe. 

It’s very obvious that in all aspects, this show was designed to not just please but to make its audience marvel that despite all the apprehensions, there are still stories to tell for the five lead characters. 

This is a fitting start to an already epic show.
