Iron Lung: Mars Environment Headcanons

I'm starting to wonder if Eden's agrarian culture made them the space equivalent to "hillbillies" in the eyes of the other potential planetary colonies / factions. I mean, yeah they had their warrior culture after the Rapture, but what were they beforehand?

Mountaineers stranded in a freezing desert. They were farmers. The headcanon that they were tasked with terraforming Mars is tickling me because what do you mean they were just botanists living in the middle of nowhere ???

And as a side note, I feel like Simon's outfit derived from a dead culture who dressed warm to protect against Mars' environment (which is now being used to stay warm on stations!)

Very earthy colors with a lot of layers, gardening tools/gloves stuck on belts, face coverings to protect from dust and dirt (notice Simon's high collar. This could have been useful for protecting his identity during his time as the Butcher as well.)
