Itโs officially the first day of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and what better way to celebrate than by sharing art of one of my favorite characters all ready for a winter adventure?!
This Gwyn art by @kajuart is one that I am so excited to finally show off! Martyna perfectly captured the wintery vibes I wanted to convey and I think Gwyn looks stunning in this outfit.

Weโre so excited to share our contribution to the Gwynriel holidays! When we commissioned this festive piece by the lovely @jennastokesart we were imagining Gwyn and Azriel taking a private moment for themselves down a quiet side street after a night of caroling together through the streets of Velaris. Gwyn then sees a mistletoe and canโt pass up the opportunity to give the shadowsinger a kiss. Azriel, of course, is happy to oblige.

Gwyn and Azriel soul bound by the mother, the saint and the sinner .... The concept is a play on how we have Gywn someone who channels the mother's power through her invoking stone .... and then we have Azriel an illyrian ... illyriansย who were experiments by the daglan ... Gwyns stone grants her healing powers as opposed to Azriel's siphons that channel killing power ... the Holy and the unholy ... yet they are bound by the threads of Fate....
We represented the two sides of the cauldron and how the mate bond remains undisturbed as it is the mother who decides the bond and not the cauldron ..... A mate bond that we know can not be broken using even the cauldrons power - ACOMAF ( Feysand is proof) nothing can mess with the mate bond ... its by the mother herself and forces beyond the capability of the cauldron.
The infinity โพ๏ธ loop is to represent the strength and purity of a mate bond and the poetic nature of it binding two opposites with Gywn and Az ... the yin and yang

If e/riel is the endgame, why was there Gwyn in Azriel's Bonus Chapter? Why did Azriel have a scene with Gwyn? Why did Azriel think of Gwyn's smile and bury it in his heart? SJM always likes to take his characters for a spin before the endgame pairs. He doesn't immediately give his readers the latest pair of games.
