i find toya getting hurt and scraped up like this so cute and endearing, as if toya isn't afraid to get his hands dirty or bleed a little, as long as it means he gets to experience something new for the first time even if he's bad or has no experience. there are a lot of things that he can't really do (because he isn't inclined to them), but toya's innocent and a little naive belief that if he practices more and more eventually he'd master it. its really difficult to say no to that level of determination.

toya is never discouraged by the fact he is/can be bad at something (eg. sports), he seems to always put his 100% effort into it even if the end result isn't super desirable. he's just so cute. all these factors make him someone who learns extremely fast

i actually originally wrote my whole pre event thoughts in japanese and thinking about it now it was so much more poetic in japanese i think i am really just a huge fuckinf yapper for toya

aibouism and toya pt.1 (world link pt.4 pre-event thoughts)

from the event synopsis, we know that this particular world link will be centered around a partner.

[they] fighting so hard that those around them were worried, and [the characters] tried to mediate between them, but…

which brings me to think about toya’s own growth in relation to being akito’s partner, becoming the partner that akito can rely on, and the partner that will brave through anything together.

toya is a character who places high importance on being able to “meet expectations” and be up to standard — that is, when he’s doing something especially for others, he is always making sure that it is 101% perfect, with near zero errors. he hates disappointing because it means that as a partner, he can’t elevate his counterpart to greater heights. because of this, he is someone that akito can trust with his whole life.

toya desires to be relied on, because he knows that the people he loves entrust him with the things they know he can do.

the high expectations he has for himself, combined with the fact he used to rely on escapism to run away from his problems (a “solution” that only brought regrets as seen in wl2), that he once fought with akito, failing to see himself as anything but a worthless half hearted person because he disappointed akito.

since then, toya’s stories focused on his self discovery, self expression, and properly confronting his feelings and tendency for escapism, all of which were key points that let him to evolve into the boy he is today. he went from feeling like he couldn’t do anything, to looking forward to every new thing he gets to do, to having the self confidence to face himself.

it is precisely the fact that toya learnt to stop choosing running away as his first instinct, that allowed him to help those who are in the same position as he once was. and also speaks to his high level of empathy and sympathy

toya understands that being partners is more than just chasing the same dream. it is trusting each other, being upfront with each other, and braving through rain or sunshine. he’d probably say something like “its because partners are important”, or “your feelings are important, that’s why it is also as important to let your partner know about them”. being able to stand beside that person, is a feeling of partnership (aibouism) that cannot be described. a valuable partner is someone who won’t ever give you up

toya is such a perfect fit for what will happen in this story and i really think his chapter would be so emotional… i really love toya.

each time toya grows even more as a character he always appears with the sweetest and best smiles that always feel so pure and genuine to me. he is truly the kindest

#1 outfit

first, this outfit is such a beautiful evolution from nocturne. the almost pure white colors of the outfit feels like toya's discovery in a new beginning in the music he wants to create. i thought that this was emphasised by the large ribbon and wings, which is as if he's flying towards that ideal new beginning.

i really love the classical music motifs too. the sheet music, violin... toya is one with music, one with classical music, yet, he forged a path of his own where he gets to blend that tradition with a new style. the treble clef at the back also symbolises that new beginning of toya's blank sheet.

#2 outfit name

what struck me most when i decided to google what ambience music encompasses is that it is music that focuses more on atmosphere and tone, and doesn't have much "traditional" structure. it is music that is calming and warm; like a hug as you sit on the floor in a quiet museum.

in addition, i also like that it somewhat touches on toya's memories of vienna when he was younger, as evident from how the title is derived from german pronunciation.

toya, who has always struggled with holding onto the "two sides" of him, who has always wondered if he could ever make the music that he has always dreamed about, i think that this bloomfes story will finally close that chapter for toya. his "ambient music" is one that is chock full of sounds that allow the listener to feel the emotion, experiences, atmosphere that is toya's little world. to which these very sounds that leave his computer, are sounds reinforced by his tradition, and transcended by his multi-faceted identity. him not being fixed to traditional expectations for music is what makes toya's music uniquely his.

ambient music also being mysteriously calming suits toya so much. for toya, who feels music and sound on a spiritual and sensory level, having the sounds he has always loved and new sounds together in his heart perhaps is that form of ambient music for toya, calming. classical music that was once so hard for toya to hear because he kept remembering all his frustrations an anger, is now something that also brings him a sort of warmth through remembering why he fell in love with music in the first place. he cares for mood that the sound of his acoustic piano, the layers and textures of each note bring.

imagine toya lying down on his bed under his warm colored lights with his headphones on and cds of multiple genres in his hand, listening and taking in every bit of color, tone and atmosphere behind each instrument that enters his ears. that's the ambience he thrives in and has finally found.

this is truly a boy whose entire heart is filled with music, whose soul is built through the sounds he listens to. toya doesn't just hear things, he listens to and picks up everything because he loves and seeks that ambience.

i keep thinking about how toya is someone who is so sensitive to sound. whenever there is music playing, or when there is scenery to watch, it feels as though his ears are taking in every detail.

toya is an imaginative boy because of sound. he can imagine entire scenarios based on the sounds he hears. the way he conceptualises and understands his and others’ feelings is through sound. he can imagine colors, feelings and energy from music.

toya is a boy who seeks respite in sound — the things like horses running on a stone path, water flowing, the tranquility of a forest. he picks apart every bit of detail in those sounds and those details form his love for the world around him.

toya is also a boy who is learning to love the sound that he wants to make. he is learning to love the scenery of this beautiful world he got to experience, starting from the very sounds that resonate with him — from instruments to the voices of his loved ones. toya has such an innocent world view, not because he chooses to, but because he loves the things the world offers.

each sound that toya experiences, are all linked to each memory in his life. he holds each sound that he experiences with so much weight in his heart — because beautiful sounds make him feel and imagine, for toya wants others to experience those exact things like he does.

toya's "cute", "lovely" — how he perceives the world

going back to the baby room picture books, his first reaction was

"oh these picture books are cute/ lovely"

toya, he has never felt the need to hold back calling things cute. he calls things cute if he thinks they are. i wouldn't say he loves cute things but its more like... he loves the details that go into making the object the way it is and that's why the little decorations on the picnic tree and the flowers in the bicycle basket were part of why he thought the object as a whole was cute. he says "cute" in a very endearing way that is more admiration on all the little and simple things in an object.

returning to the diagram:

for toya, its a very simple, innocent yet adorable way of looking at the things around him. the little functionalities and details of an object is what means the most to him. they make the object lovely because they are all part of this beautiful world and are part of his experiences.

balloons and flowers? must be a birthday party. that is cute, because he thinks you must have put in a lot of effort into making it look good. remember that toya puts the people he loves in very high regard. he trusts that you’ll give it your all when decorating things.

bucket and scoop - its small and he finds it amazing how kids manage to use it to play because he thinks it must be pretty challenging to use.

as for the tent, its him admiring how even such a nicely designed tent still holds the same function as a normal tent. he'd love to use a cutely designed tent like it to camp one day.

he loves the star lamp as he knows its a reference to constellations. he loves the little details put into such a small daily use object.

he calls out these individualistic traits of the objects "cute" because that's just how he admires them. the side that his 可愛らしい leans towards tends to be the more "lovely" side than the actual "cute" side. lovely because these are all little objects he has seen before, yet they are details that make up this colorful world he sees. he just freely calls the objects cute if he thinks they are.

its a very innocent and pure way to look at his environment. yet it is extremely endearing and heartwarming when you witness these moments where toya is talking about these objects. he sees so much joy in daily objects, mundane or not. its something to admire about him. in the end most of them are pretty regular things, but toya, who has an eye for details, always stops to observe these things.

he's such a lovely boy.

hi!!! im really curious if you have any thoughts/insights on An and Toya’s relationship? imo they have a really really sweet friendship that’s hugely under-utilised by the game so im curious to know if you have any particular thoughts about them!! ( • ᴗ •. )

(to preface, i will be looking at this purely from a non-ship standpoint) and most of the major plot interactions happened in wtwg so i will be mainly focusing on it.

hello, great question. i think the one thing that they have in common is "wanting to stand by my partner's side" and being worthy to do so.

for toya, it was him juggling between loving the two sides of himself, but not wanting to disappoint anybody — which led him thinking he was half hearted and unworthy

for an (and correct me if i get this wrong). it was her seeing kohane grow so, so much, but she fears falling behind kohane, being unable to catch up, and fears being unworthy of being kohane’s partner. she was so proud of watching kohane grow, but feared falling behind.

toya’s difficulties with akito, while slightly different, stem from the same root issue of the “unworthy” feeling. toya understands what it is like to feel that way, because he once felt so unworthy of being akito’s partner. seeing akito have so much fuel and fire in him, yet toya himself struggling with classical and street music, toya felt unworthy because how could he ever deserve the dream akito shared to him if he was so half hearted.

but from what toya learnt through his experiences and growth, is that, the people who love and care about him, want the best for him and want to see toya push himself, will never give up on toya that easily. both as a partner and a rival, toya has realised that he is worthy of akito no matter what because of that. toya is someone who supported akito, and pushed akito to improve.

as toya says in stray bad dog, “even if you fall, you pick yourself back up because that's how we've always done it, hasn’t it?”

likewise for an, i think when toya hears of an’s struggles with the “unworthiness”, he sees his past struggles with akito in her. toya is very much a listener — with an ear and eye for detail, he is very capable of listening to an’s woes, which is what she needs most.

hence, he wants to see an realise that she is worthy of being kohane’s partner more than she realises. that kohane will only choose an as her partner, because an brings out the best in her, while kohane brings out the best in an. they are each other’s best partners and best rivals. like toya, kohane is a partner who cares for an so much because the radiant an, gave her the confidence to use her voice and sing her heart out. she wants to see an be the best version of herself too. that is what makes their partners the happiest.

toya trusts the friends he met in vbs a lot. he believes in them because he knows they can do it even if they think they can’t. i think toya and an complement each other in their struggles with their partners. he’d never believes that an cannot, because with his own two eyes he has seen what she can. both of them share a dream to “take over the world”, and move forward by helping each other.

as for more light hearted content:
