the reason azul didn't get the girl (jamil) in book 7 when he was having his all-powerful dream where he's all-powerful and evil is because as soon as he sees jamil he immediately looses aura
can't have your crush like you back in your dream where everything goes right because you'd just be too pathetic about it
SO TRUE !! because in jamil's dream, we see him literally having power over azul alone, more than we really see any other aspect of his potential post-overblot win. so I wholeheartedly believe this to be true. in the same way that the dreams collapse when the character can no longer achieve a happy ending, jamil isn't there because azul can't imagine himself being all-powerful and also being weak to jamil.
this specific interaction is also so cinematic icl, I can practically see Azul going from *mob boss business owner* mode to *omg it's jamil hi jamil !!!!!!!* mode.
also, why does it feel so intimate that they're saying each other's names... I'm over here kicking my feet at Jamil literally just saying "Hi Azul" ?? (I think his picture has something to do with it too. it's so love interest coded. like he's flipping his hair behind a pink sparkly filter as romantic music plays.)
book 7 jamiazu was just too peak... they fully were flirting after azul's dream ended and nobody will ever be able to convince me otherwise. and book 7.5 just got even more peak like wdym they're just. baring themselves to each other, in the only ways they know how to.
