sext: i’ll always have time for u
South Sumatra, 2018.
I just wanna sleep for 2 years
Far too often when people think of alcoholics, they think of the overweight, unwashed, stained-clothing specimen from cartoons and movies: “The Drunk”. They don’t think of a hard worker, who dresses sharp and likes things clean, who cooks and tells funny jokes and generally is a great person when they are sober.
They don’t imagine these upstanding people to go home and be alcoholics that upset their families and cause their children to have anxiety.
And it’s hard sometimes as the child. Because on one hand, that’s your parent. The one who does silly things to cheer you up or who watched your sports meets or did any number of things and you love that person. And then you see them drunk and it is so hard to not hate them with all your heart.
——
Reminder that you are welcome to message me for advice or to get things off your chest. I don’t want anyone to feel like they have to get through having an alcoholic parent alone.
