Reblog to save a life
Hahaha I loooove this part of R102K16 All Around where the announcer randomly says Aliya Mustafina, her reaction is the best
After Russian WAG team qualified 2nd for the team final in Glasgow 2015 Aliya told me: “Looks like they are doing good without me, hah?”. Russian team missed the podium, ended up being 4th, we met 5 minutes later and the first thing I told her was just: “No. They don’t”. I knew that the only way for Russian team to medal at the Olympics was to have Mustafina in the team. And luckily they did.
She also knew it. She was in a doubt back in November. There was a lot of pain after the surgery, she could barely walk without her knee swelling. We once went to the cafe in Moscow and she had to ask a waiter for a bag of ice for the knee. It was the closest I ever saw her to retiring. Being a huge fan of her gymnastics and knowing that the team would lose without her I wanted her to continue so much, I wanted her to compete in Rio. I wanted to say: “Rio is just 9 month ahead, you just need to do with it for a while and then it’s all over. Please, do it!”. But I never did. And how would I? There stand a girl in front of me who was suffering from pain so much and I couldn’t do anything for her to stanch it. She was already an Olympics champion, World champion, European champion, European games champion, National champion. She achieved everything an athlete wants. How could I ask her to bear so much pain? What for? It’s one thing when you know it’s hard and it’s another thing when you see how hard it is for a person you love. She is a true warrior. The only thing I said back then was: “I will support you whatever decision you make”. For a while I actually believed she is doing the right thing by deciding to retire. Bitter inside (bcz I wanted her in Rio SO much) I was ready to support her in this.
But come on, I’m talking about Aliya Mustafina who never gives up! I believe there are two men who are “responsible” for her Olympic success in Rio - her father and her boyfriend. Of course, they were ready to support her no matter what, but they knew she is capable of winning gold. They helped her to find a motivation when she lost it, they helped her to find some inner forces to go on training and she actually did found them! Alexey inspires her like nobody else. And at the New Year night we were listening to her new Floor music and looking at happy Aliya waving her arms as if she was performing this routine here and now. She was saying things like “my Olympic routine”, “my Olympics music”, “when I will be in Rio”… Believe you can and you are halfway there! Idk what was her New Year wish, but mine was for this girl standing next to me that night to win the second Olympic gold. And she did it!
She’s come a long way since then. A lot of time in hospitals and much more in the gym. Sometimes I got unexpected messages like “I’m in Moscow, let’s go shopping”, we met and I asked why wasn’t she on the training - she once silently showed me her back with the traces of 8 punctures. “Doctors don’t let me train a day after punctures”. Her back was hurting her a lot, disturbed from practices, but she still managed to improve. What sounded as an unbearable pain for me was just an obstacle on the way to the Olympics for her. She overcame things I would never bear. She sacrificed a lot. She is my hero.
I cried the whole day when she won gold on beam in Bern. That was the moment when I realized that all her hard work payed off. It was her first gold at the international arena after her injury. A few people believed in her, a lot of people doubted her saying: “It’s not Mustafina we are used to see, she is not as strong as she was 4 years ago” - I got a lot of hate. I didn’t answer, Mustafina did herself. By winning medals people never believe she could win.
I’m forever grateful to Aliya Mustafina for teaching me a lot of thing. For teaching me how to fight for your goal even when you think it’s impossible to reach your aim. This May I needed to present my bachelor paper. It is kind of a historical book of 100+ pages I needed to write in English. I only had 15 pages and 4 days to finish it. It seemed impossible to me. And all these 4 days when I was dead tired, wanted to sleep so much, crying at 4am ready to drop with fatigue the only thing that kept me going was the understanding that if Aliya can work physically hard for 12 hours a day then I’m not allowed to whimper, I must sit straight and work. She is an example to follow in EVERY discipline. I got A, by the way. She taught me to give 100% to everything I do in this life. She taught me I must never ever give up. She taught me that nothing is impossible. And the dreams do come true.

found this from the depths of the internet. 2012 was a wild ride. look how far we’ve come
This is FREAKING awesome I was siting at the edge of my chair then transferred to the floor hitting it with a pair of pillows BUT it all turned out well and I think the result is AMAZINGLY bcz in TF she scored 60,024 with higher bars and beam routines and Aly Raisman scored 60,098 tonight so it was higher ANYWAY and Aliya would be 3rd anyway so I guess it’s her true result and you know what… In Russia we have a byword like a folksay: “Stability is an ideation of mastery”. And that’s it!
I don’t think there is any point in writing that I love her and I’m proud of her bcz it goes BEYOND human feelings and emotions. What I’m feeling right now is…something from another planet :) I guess it’s called pure happiness :) I sure have something to say but I’ll keep it inside. For now, bcz the Olympics is not over yet and I’m waiting for Bars finals with a lot of hope. And belief! 🙏🏻
Glasgow 2015 Team Qualifications: During Kharenkova’s final tumbling pass, Team Russia amps up the team fuzzies:
The ‘aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh… (Dasha praying to the gymgods)… GOOD!!’
The whole team, including Vika in the back, applauding
Masha, Afan, Seda cracking up over the finish
Afan’s wild arms imitation
Is it just me or do they have way more team loves than in London 2012?
Love love love ❤️
I wouldn’t be surprised if Aliya won a few medals in Glasgow without being there.
Aliya Mustafina, “I already have all the awards? And what about the second Olympic gold?”
In European games Olympic champion won the first absolute confidence around, and then won the gold in the uneven bars and was second in the floor exercise Vladimir Ivanov -Baku According to 20-year-old athlete, the first for yourself tournament of the season she was ready by about 55 percent. It is not surprising: in late December in Munich Mustafina took a course of treatment for a back injury, and soon after started working with a new coach - Sergei Starkin. But their first joint pancake turned out not lumpy, but it is a smooth one.
- How was the process of switching from Starkin? I ask because in the autumn, while still in search of a coach in an interview with “SE” you said, “Any new specialist probably will begin to change something in the art, we have to get used to each other, and this may be just an unjustified waste of time.” - Perhaps that is why we Sergei Valerievich used to each other pretty quickly. Both were aware that in our situation can not lose a second. All too much at once rejected. The next day, after agreed to work together, came into the room - and without delay began serious training. - It is that before you start you’re the coach expressed his vision of the future work, and he - her? - No. I almost did not speak, and listen more. His views outlines the coach, and I agree. - In some moments, in his opinion, you have to change in the first place? - He spoke more about life outside of the hall, that everything must be subordinated only to work. - Previously, it was not so?
- Oh, nothing, in general, and has not changed. Only small nuances. I’m not a little child and do not go to bed in the morning, I do not go to nightclubs. For a long time including the Olympic mode - at 11 pm in the bed. - What was the biggest surprise in working with Starkin? - Nothing. I do not think that is an option in which I have something to surprise and began to blink. I understand perfectly that it is time to prepare for Rio. And I agree on anything, for the sake of training has gone well. - And why did you choose Starkin? - Because I could trust him. - We are talking about inner feelings? - Before, I often went to Penza, and for some reason we often talked, he told me some places. Then, thanks to him, I went to Germany for treatment. And, finally managed to get rid of back problems. Actually, after this all started. - How important for you to competent expert it was also a good person? - And without it anywhere. - Starkin shared that you outlined his goals that want to achieve … - I’m talking about the Olympic gold. And what other problems can be an athlete? - Well, some milestones on the way to the main start of four years. - No no. You always have to put these goals to be interesting to go.
BAKU - Before the start of the European games have you been the undisputed favorite. We are aware that to win in this status are not so simple? Too great a temptation too soon to believe in victory. - You can not say that in Baku, I kept thinking about gold. It was clear that if she does not tolerate mistakes, win. But it is at this stage is not important. Much more I thought of a decent performance. Now it was I needed. And in that moment, when I realized that the current level is enough for victory finally began to compete only with themselves. - When that moment? - During qualifying. - Do you have the gold of the European Championship, the World Universiade, Olympic Games. Before you go to Baku thought that European games - interesting tournament in terms of replenishment medal collection? - By the way, yes. This is very cool! I really gnawing if the collection does not get any reward. - But now there is no such awards … - Like this? A second Olympic gold medal?
RIO - Starkin said that the Olympic Games in Rio you will complicate the program. This is not a surprise. And at the World Championships in Glasgow you are going than a surprise? - Hard to say. Before him, there is not so much time. Of course, we try to add something, and I’m sure that some shells will succeed, but the overall picture in Glasgow will be the same. But it is necessary to Rio complicated. - Is it true that psychologically you until the end and not recovered after an injury in the vault during the European Championships 2011? - To be honest - yes. I still clearly remember the feelings and after that I had to go through. It sits on the subconscious. At the same time I realize that without a quality vault is very hard for the victory in the all-around. I think that for this “necessary” I can win the uncertainty. - At the World Championships try to make two attempts in qualifying? - While I can not say. Now, I first need to “clean up” the first jump, to make it stable. - How many hours a day are thinking about gymnastics? - Before going to bed, and before the competition. The rest of the time I can occupy myself anything. And before the start really I like to read. I do not know why. - Afraid “eat sport”? Why are you, by the way, left after London 2012? Well in fact we understand what complex four years waiting for you. - Of course. But at that time I was only 18 years old. In addition to gymnastics is nothing in this life I did not know how. Why was it necessary to go into the unknown, if you can reach new heights in the sport? Approximately so I reasoned. Now I have a very different age. Four years - a big difference. I can feel it. After London I could still play and play … I do not say that now I am a very experienced man, but in some moments noticeably matured. - For example, in dealing with journalists. I was told that you were previously quite closed and tried hard to avoid the press. Now I do not see anything like that. - It is. And it turned out not to the evil … - In what other changes occur? - It is difficult to definitely answer this question. Before, I was just a child. Now I have a different view of life. Even on a day off, I prefer to rest at home than somewhere to go. In 17 years, I thought a little differently. - Why do you think the main start of the four-year period at about the same readiness athlete wins and the other loses? - When it comes to the gym, there is one day you can get, and not in another. We are making such complex elements that it is impossible to foresee everything. Sometimes luck just is not enough. - That is, in the sphere of sports is the place luck? - Of course. Without it difficult to do in life. - You can call yourself a lucky person? - I do not know (smiling). I hope so. - Do you already have an understanding of whether you will go for a third after Rio Olympic cycle? - Now I can not say. After the Olympics, I have a good rest first. The decision must be taken already with a fresh mind.
