My contribution to Hacks Week 2023: a podfic of @sapphicscholar's "Satisfied".

This is my first smut podfic... And my first time recording foley effects. The story is also a phone conversation between Ava and Deb, so there were lots of fun challenges for me with this story.

Hacks Week '23 Day 5: Missing Scene

Fic Preview:

“We are about to be in a public space and you still have your boobs out,” Deborah huffs, and gestures at her chest. Ava’s still wearing the Hawaiian shirt open with her bikini top showing.

“Shit, yeah, you’re right,” Ava laughs, “Next time can we wait till after I finish my threesome to get kicked off the boat?”

“It’s a ship, smart ass.”

Aka: After the cruise, in the car ride back to the tour bus, they talk about the mean-but-hot couple Ava was gonna hook up with. Deborah has some oddly kind insight.

Day 2 for Hacks Week '23: Yearning

Preview:

It takes a handful of nice dates and some good but rather uninspired sex for Ava and Ruby to realize that things have changed between them. Blooming from that rather uncomfortable conversation is a delightful friendship that for once, doesn’t feel like one or both of them are holding onto something that isn't there. It only takes a couple months and some change for Ruby to realize why.

AKA: The one where Ava is trying her best to move forward, but is so clearly heartbroken over Deborah that no one believes her when she denies it. They reunite at DJ's baby shower.

A/N: Hacks Week 2023 is officially here! As the first fic I've written in many, many months, enjoy a smutty missing scene from ep. 2x03 set after the bad set, dumpster diving, and what we saw of the dive bar scene, but before the next day at the Grand Canyon

Fic Preview:

When Ava finally relented and agreed to Deborah’s suggestion that she get back to being good tomorrow, Ava didn’t have any intentions of being bad. Just a brief pause from her self-imposed punishment. A night to have a glass of mediocre white wine in a shitty bar half cloaked in darkness.

It was just that a glass of wine turned into two. And Deborah was actually looking at her for the first time in what felt like weeks. And Deborah had climbed into a Wendy’s dumpster for her, stupidly expensive silk pajamas and all. “What’s your deal?” Ava blurted out before her brain could catch up with her mouth. (What was even the point of getting an old brick of a phone when she could say stupid stuff aloud, no internet needed?)

Deborah propped her chin on the palm of her hand as one eyebrow slowly crept up into a perfect arch. “Excuse me?”

“You—you’re being nice to me.”

“Oh. That.” Deborah shrugged a shoulder a little too nonchalantly.

“You got into a dumpster for me.”

“I got into a dumpster for your father.”

“You literally never met the man.”

“And? You think I can’t like someone I’ve never met better than I like you?”

Tag your works with #HacksWeek23 here on tumblr! I’ll be logging in a couple times per day to reblog new items in the tag. If I miss something, I promise it wasn’t intentional, but feel free to ping me (I’m just one person who’s very sleep deprived while on the job market!)

For anything you post on Archive of Our Own, feel free to add it to our moderated AO3 collection available here! I ask that you only add original works that you have created for this event, not preexisting works, even if they fit the theme for one of the days.

This may mean our attention, as well as our mental, emotional, and physical energy, are being pulled in other directions, and that engaging with Hacks Week doesn’t feel feasible in the present (or that having something that brings you joy and reprieve feels more vital than other!). Either way, this blog will stay up as an archive of all the works posted on Tumblr, and our AO3 collection will be there for whenever you feel you have the bandwidth to engage 💜

We’re officially 2 weeks out from the start of Hacks Week 2023! I hope many of you can participate as creators (whether every day or just one or two) or as enthusiastic commenters and supporters of the fan creations from our Hacks Hive!

A couple public answers to questions I’ve fielded privately over the past few weeks:

Q: Is this event mostly for fic?

A: not at all! I tried to ensure the themes were broad enough to support a wide variety of creative endeavors! Some days may seem better suited to one medium over another, but we hope everyone can find something that fits their style

Q: Do I need to participate a certain number of days or post to a specific site?

A: nope! I’ll be publicizing an AO3 collection next week for anyone posting on the Archive to add their works to if they’d like, much like I’ll be using this blog to reblog creative works tagged #HacksWeek23, but you can participate as much or as little as you want and decide whether you want to publicly affiliate your works with the AO3 event page

Q: Are there any specific rules for participation?

A: The themes are there to guide you and spark creativity, but there’s no rule that says you have to write for any day or about any topic you don’t want to write about (for instance, if you don’t write smut, totally get it! Hopefully we’ll catch you on Monday). We ask that all works be original (i.e. made by you for the purposes of this event), but otherwise have fun with it!
