“Well judging by how quickly you were to give in, I can’t be.” He laughed softly, turning his attention to the other customers for just a moment; this was why he loved his job so much, he just loved to talk to people, and he always made the time for people who needed to talk to matter what the subject was. It was in his nature to learn, especially this species; who were infinitely more complex than he had ever imagined. But the diner at this time was well staffed, and nobody was waiting to be served (sometimes he’d swear the manager would get more staff in during his shifts, because he knew how chatty he could get!). “I’m glad you like it.” Bo leaned his elbows on the counter, resting his cheek on his fist as he leaned over slightly to look at the screen as she turned the laptop around, “Oh I’m a pretty fast learner.” He had mastered the Terran language in a matter of days. He read the code in a matter of seconds, his eyes darting from one side of the screen to the other at such a rate it seemed impossible that he was picking any of it up. Then he stopped and pointed to the screen, the error in her code. “There. There’s your problem.”
“See? Now you know what I’m talking about,” she nodded laughing softly and taking another bite as he turned to other customers. Evelyn just couldn’t stop admiring the wonderful cake, it was too good to be true. But as he came back she noticed a somewhat proud smile about it. That’s when it finally hit her. “Wait. You made this??”
As she turned her laptop to him, the girl didn’t expect him to understand it even though he had said he was a fast learner. Nobody could learn advanced coding just by looking at it, so she just continued to peacefully eat the cake and drink her coffee as his eyes scanned the screen. She almost choked on her drink as he quite confidently pointed at a place where supposedly was the mistake. Raising a brow Evelyn turned her laptop back to face herself and looked at her code. And there indeed was the mistake, which was not as simple as a lost semicolon or anything of that sort, but a wrong word. “You know how to code?”

“I don’t understand why I can’t just get a coffee.” The words were grumbled as he eyed the cappuccino-frappuccino-whatever the hell it was that the girl behind the counter had placed in front of him. He walked over to the small counter where the milk and sugar was, though he wasn’t sure he was supposed to add anything to it. “Why is there a leaf in my coffee?”
Because ‘just coffee’ is boring, she replied in her thoughts, deciding to keep it to herself and not say it out loud. “Nothing will happen if you try something new and interesting. It’s not like your leg is gonna fall off or anything,” the short girl said taking her caramel macchiato. She cocked an eyebrow as she watched him looking at the next counter where sugar and all the other things people could add were placed. “No, no, move along if you don’t want to get diabetes,” she shooed him patting his shoulder. “I mean, it’s a sin to live in the modern age and not know what frappucino is. Or anything that is popular now.”
He laughed softly, placing the plate down next to her coffee as she gave in to temptation. “You won’t get fat.” he scoffed, crinkling his nose at the bridge. Bo was often responsible for making the cakes, he got there early in the morning and made a dozen batches of different cupcakes and buns just for the joy of it. The money went to the diner, of course. “So what are you working on? If you don’t mind me asking.” He quizzed, nodding his head towards her open laptop, “You type awful fast.”
“How can you be so sure? I might,” and right as she said that, she took a dessert fork, took a small piece of the cake and put it in her mouth. It melted on her tongue, the cake tasted even better than it looked, and she led out a soft moan. “This is so good... like... uh, I can’t even describe,” the girl closed her eyes enjoying the wonderful taste.
Evelyn chuckled and put a hand over her lips before swallowing the cake in her mouth. “Yea, I’m very fast at it,” she replied with a bit lopsided grin. “It’s my coding homework, where right now I’m trying to find where I have made a mistake, because the code is not working. I don’t think you’ll understand it. Not everyone can, but you're welcome to try, if you want!” the girl said turning her laptop so he could se the screen.

“What the hell d’you need a wifi password for now? This is a bar.”
Logan set a pint of beer between the woman and her laptop with a clunk, foam slopping over the side.
“Y’know, Charles is still offended that you found all those Mutants over Facebook? Cerebro’s obsolete.”
“Don’t look at me like that! This is a bar, who has a password protected wifi, and for once I’m willing to act like a regular human being and look or ask for the password. You know, like normal people do.”
The face he made was amusing, but she held herself from grinning and turned her head to look if there was any sign with the password. But she couldn’t hold back a giggle hearing the next thing he said.
“He really holds a grudge for a long time, doesn’t he?” Evelyn smirked and turned back to face Logan.
He listened to her speak, really quite intently, of course he’d had conspiracy theorists pass through the diner before but the more eccentric types. The kind who probably wore tin-foil hats to stop Martians stealing their brain which frankly he thought was just rude; Martians do not, and never have stolen the brains of living, breathing human beings. But she seemed like she was speaking logically, no tin-foil hats here, and Bo nodded eagerly with a gentle smile as if he was agreeing with everything she was saying. Then came the matter of the plate balanced on his fingertips, his smile broadening as she refused though he could sort of tell it was a reluctant refusal, “Anything from the stand is half price after 3. If you don’t like it, I won’t charge you… But I mean, if you don’t want it, I can’t force you.” He did inch the plate a little closer, there was a strong strawberry smell from the buttercream on top and he hoped it smelled as strong to her as it did to him.
Evelyn couldn’t help but quickly glance at her laptop’s screen to check the time. It really was after three, and that cake looked amazingly good. No, she didn’t want it... She didn’t. “You are a very mean person,” she pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes at him. Why was this happening? Especially when she had finally decided to eat less sweets to keep her bikini body the way it was now. But then she finally got to feel the smell of the amazingly good looking cake. “Fine. You win,” she said giving in to the temptation. “Just so you know, if I get addicted to these gorgeous cakes you have here and get fat, I will blame you for it,” she lightly laughed as she couldn’t believe she had given in so easily.

“What’s wrong with silly? Made you smile though didn’t it?” He winked quickly, throwing the dish towel over his shoulder, leaning with both hands against the counter top enjoying the stillness for a moment as the other employees waited on their tables. “That sounds horrible. I hate cell phones – they’re an easy way for the government to track you.” Not that anyone would be entirely sure what the government would want with a thirty-something diner waiter in the city. After a moment, Bo moved to uncover a cake stand of patisserie style cakes and buns, asking “Are you sure?” while plating up one of the cupcakes – white cake, in a pink polka dot case, with pastel pink buttercream in a perfect swirl on top of it, and finished with a slither of fresh strawberry – and he balanced it on his fingertips with his elbows on the counter; “Not even a strawberry and vanilla cupcake?”
“Nothing! Nothing’s wrong with it,” she instantly replied and slightly blushed as he winked. This conversation was really not helping her finishing her programming assignment, which was due tomorrow, but, in fact, she didn’t mind. If only she had known this charming, even a bit flirty man was working in this diner, Evelyn would have come here sooner. She was a little bit thrown back when he said he thought cell phones was a great way for the government to spy on people, because that was exactly what Evie thought, except she usually kept that to herself since all of her friends thought it was just a stupid theory. “I know, right? And with these smartphones tracking someone is a piece of cake. There is built in GPS system, main camera, frontal camera, Facebook’s messaging app is already has a secret access to all of the data on the phone. It’s crazy!” Evie didn’t even notice how she got to this - talking about this conspiracy theory with a stranger, who might as well be an undercover government’s spy. This surprised even her, but despite of that she enjoyed talking with him. Her eyes followed him to the cake stand. What was he doing? No. Nooo... He did not. This was just rude - showing her gorgeous looking cakes when she clearly said she didn’t want them. Except now it was not true, she was starting to wonder if they tasted just as amazing as they looked. “Now you’re just being rude. You probably only want me to leave even more money here. Or give you a generous tip. No way, Jose.”
“You didn’t know about me because I didn’t want anyone to know. Only Fury knew,” Sarah answered, a small smile crossing her features as she blew her hair out of her face and started pulling it back in a hair elastic.
Blue eyes narrowed at the other, reading her thoughts for clarification, before she took a deep breath and released it once more. “After S.H.I.E.L.D. turned out to be HYDRA I had to make sure anybody who had contact with the Avengers would not be a threat to them. Understand?” Sarah closed the door and joined Evelyn on the front stoop as her arms crossed over her chest. “I care for those people, and even though the Avengers has disbanded now I will not allow harm to come to them. I needed to make sure you weren’t one of the bad guys.”
“Huh? But wh-- ho-- what?” Evelyn was so confused now. How could she answer to all the questions that she just thought of? She was expecting only to see the person, who had broke into her laptop, in the face and ask a few things, but this situation was not what she had prepared for. But nevertheless it was nice hearing the answers to her questions.
Her eyes follower the woman in front of her, the short brunette kept silent while she was talking. She carefully listened to her telling why she did what she did, and, to be honest, Evelyn understood her, she would probably do the same. Except she didn’t know what was her connection to the Avengers. Evelyn had read her file, but there were parts of information missing. “I understand,” she nodded, “but why Avengers? Where’s the connection? I’m sorry, I’m not that well informed, information about you was not so... complete.”

“Hey there,” she said walking up to a young woman who looked a little frightened and lost. “Do you need help with anything?”

“I got it!” the telepath called, intercepting one of the younger students before they could answer the door to the mansion when she read the thoughts of the visitor. She knew they’d want to talk to her. Ruffling the child’s hair, Sarah sent him on his way before opening the door, revealing the small brunette–and her father behind the girl extending his claws.
“Dad. Heel. She’s here for me,” Sarah scolded, knowing her father only reacted because the girl had set off the motion censors when she bypassed security. Wolverine eyed his daughter closely before he retracted his claws and brushed past her to get inside. “You must be Evelyn.”
She heard some muffled sounds behind the doors not long before they got opened, but that was not all - there were also footsteps rushing towards Evelyn behind her back. She turned around to see who it was, but right then the doors opened and she instantly turned back. Dad? Did she just call him dad? Since she was working for S.H.I.EL.D. and she perfectly knew who this man was, but he had a daughter? Why this had somehow managed to slip past her? This and the turning back and forth was getting confusing, so she just stood there facing the blonde woman.
“Yes, I am. And you must be Sarah,” she replied with a polite smile, which soon turned to a little bit confused, but curious expression. This woman didn’t seem like someone, who would want to harm Evelyn or who would be an evil hacker. Although looks could be deceiving. “I’m sorry for being so direct, but why?” she asked being too curious to even wait for the woman to invite her in, if she was eve going to do that, of course.
