The Coin

Okay, so I was thinking about Taruk and Bri and started thinking about the importance of the gold coin in their relationship and this is what I got:

Okay, so Calan was a literally 'nice guy' who believed Bri owed him a romantic relationship for being so supportive and protective.

Meanwhile, the coin works to contrast this. Bri pays Taruk to be their guide, and whenever he tries to return it because he believes he's failed her, she always refuses. Taruk trying to give the coin back and Bri refusing is meant to show how there is no debt, nothing owed, between them. There is no payment or return payment needed because they care about and trust one another.

I really hope I'm correct in my romantic interpretation of these two because they're adorable.

DUDES! PHILIP IS GONNA TEAM UP WITH THE MUSEUM CONSPIRACY GUY JACOB HOPKINS!

Jacob believes witches and demons exist and are evil. He also wants to find someone who believes him, craves that affirmation. Philip is gonna take one look at this guy and go "oh, I can manipulate this."

This would be such a fun team up, and you know Jacob would annoy the fuck out of Philip.

Dana. Please. I need this.

Belos/Philip and his relationship with his brother Caleb is so interesting and deeply fucked. Philip is clearly attached to his brother, we see how close they were in the portraits of his memories. I think Philip killing Caleb goes beyond a disagreement in beliefs/a misguided way of saving his brother from sin, and that a lot of jealousy and ownership was involved.

Philip was so attached to his brother that the idea of him having any kind of relationship, whether its familial, romantic or platonic, felt like a betrayal of, or rejection of him. I can imagine a child Philip pretending to have had a nightmare, or to be sad to get Caleb to comfort him and give him attention. I can see child Philip guilting his brother for spending time with other children and not playing with him. Philip wanted all of his brother's attention and affection, and for awhile he had it. Then they came to the demon realm and Caleb made a home there among the witches Philip despised and he subsequently blamed them and their magic for "turning Caleb against him", when in reality Caleb still deeply loved him.

It's basically confirmed that there was no practical use to the grimwalkers and that they were just Philip trying to get his brother back. Philip wanted his brother back as he was before the demon realm, vulnerable to his manipulation and loyal to him only. We see with Hunter how Philip would isolate the grimwalkers, make them dependent on him, because Caleb forming relationships with others was, in Philip's mind, what cost him his brother.

Philip is a born manipulator who lashes out when the people he claims to love aren't entirely dedicated to him. His sense of love is possessive and conditional and I hope he gets run over by a fucking car.

Okay, but hear me out...

Kikimora: Finally, I will kill you Golden Guard, and take my rightful place as Belos' right hand-

Hunter: *hugs her*

Kikimora: ...

Hunter: You don't have to prove anything to him.

I just think it would be neat for Hunter to recognise his own need for approval and reverence of Belos in Kikimora and for that to lead to a bonding moment between the two.

This episode was so angsty, I'm feeling a lot of emotions and I'm gonna cope by fixating on the Dadrius moment because I need some wholesomeness after THAT.

Hooty, to Flapjack: Oh hey, your buddy's trapped too, right? That angry blonde kid?

Darius: *protective dad mode activates*

(So, he's definitely adopting Hunter after this, right?)

Darius and Hunter

Okay, so I already loved Darius because he was fun, but after S2 ep13 I find him even more interesting. I don't think it's as simple as him "actually being a good guy", I think his actions speak more about his character as it has already been portrayed and expanding upon it. Let me explain:

We've known since we met him that Darius is vain and values self-care, possessing a self-serving mindset.

Hunter is the exact opposite, living to serve Belos, following orders, putting the Emperor and the coven before himself.

That's why Darius didn't like Hunter, because he can't respect someone who doesn't have respect for himself. This is why when Hunter stands up against him for his own independent motivations Darius rewards him. He encourages Hunter's social behaviour because Hunter benefits from it and Darius believes people should act in their own best interest.

I do believe this is foreshadowing Darius switching sides, choosing to do so either after the day of unity is revealed to not be in his best interest and bails, or he gets some character development and dose something that protects or helps Hunter, going against his own belief of looking out for yourself. A reluctant hero situation.

Character analysis and theories aside, I'm so looking forward to all the Dad-Darius (Dadrius, if you will) content the fandom is gonna make because Hunter needs someone to teach him self-care.

Viktor but with a knife

I imagine that when Viktor still lived in the undercity he had to deal with a lot of bullshit. Having a visible physical disability would probably make him a target for muggers and even enforcers who just want someone to push around. However, this is Viktor and he don't take shit from no one, so I imagine that in order to defend himself he engineered a cane that has a blade hidden in it. I imagine the blade would either be pulled out like a sword from a sheath, or it would be flung out from the bottom of the cane, with the entire cane being the blade handle.

It's also funny to imagine Jayce and Viktor walking at night, getting mugged, and Viktor being like "not today bitch" and pulling out a blade from his cane while Jayce is like "HAS THAT AWLWAYS BEEN THERE?!"

Dark Rise spoilers

Just... imagine Cyprian’s reaction to learning Will is the Dark King. The betrayal and confusion. The villain he’s been taught to fear and fight against for his whole life is one of the only friends he has left. It would only be worsened by the fact that he believed Will was the Lady, their greatest hope. 

And Violet. She wanted to break away from her family history of serving the Dark King and serve the light. However, she’s been serving the Dark King from the beginning. 

And James. He believes he’s finally free from his abuser. He believes he has Will to thank for that. The only person to ever treat him like he’s not an extension of the men he serves or try to control him, is the one who first put that collar around his neck.

I can’t wait to see how this reveal affects Will’s relationships with the other characters and the angst it will create.

I love how Mirabel’s role as a seamstress is portrayed. It’s never bluntly stated, but implied through the way her dress is decorated, the spare threads on her clothes, the sewing machine in her room and the toy she makes for Antonio. 

AND it also represents how she stitches the family back together, mends and repairs their home both literally and figuratively.

Re-listening to the Encanto soundtrack and holy fuck I just realised that the song Waiting on a Miracle is foreshadowing! 

“I would move the mountains” - Mirabel confronts Abuela Alma about the pressure she puts on the family to live up to the Madrigal name which results in the mountains surrounding the village to break and move. 

“Make new trees and flowers grow” - Mirabel’s argument with Isabella results in Isa making new plants and exploring her powers. 

“I would heal what's broken” - Mirabel heals the family, or at least initiates the healing because that’s a lotta trauma (both individual and generational) that will take more than a song to work through. 

Lin-Manuel Miranda will never cease to impress me.

Listen, I like the angsty fics where Viktor and Jayce are together and Jayce cheats with Mel, but can we stop villainising Mel in those fics? Jayce is the dick in that situation. She says in the show that she wasn't aware they were close, so just write her as genuinely not knowing about their relationship. Imagine the extra angst of her finding out Jayce cheated with her and giving him a piece of her mind and maybe even a bonding scene between her and Viktor.

Don't reduce a good character to evil seductress.

Watching Arcane and not being a League player....

Me, after Act 1: wow! I love Viktor! He's my favourite! He's so soft and awkward and adorable! I really ship him and Jayce! Gee, I wonder what he's like in the game. I'm gonna google him.

One google search later:

Me: ...oh no.

Me: *reads lore*

Me: oh no.

Pros: He's an interesting character.

Cons: I'm gonna be sad as fuck.

Arcane Ending and Mel

Okay, so I haven’t seen people talking about this much (or maybe it’s cause I mostly look at Jayvik content), but...Mel knew that nuke was coming. During the scene where she’s smiling at Jayce because of the success of the vote, we see her heard perk up and her smile fall. After that, the metal and/or gold plates in her skin are emphasised and she turns to look at the nuke before it hits. I think that, whatever the metal in her skin is, somehow warns her of danger. Furthermore, it’s possible that it has defensive abilities, hence the glowing, and that might be the explanation for how Jayce, Viktor and her survive the explosion. And while I knew nothing of League lore before arcane, I’ve learned more about Noxus since, and this type of weapon based body modification doesn't seem too outlandish. 

Edit: I’ve gotten a few comments saying that Mel might be part Solari and the armour is related to that, and after educating my game lore ignorant self, I think they’re right! The gold colour and the roundness in the design seem more Solari than Noxus.

JayVik rings

Okay, so the idea of Jayce making his and Viktor’s wedding bands from the gear they passed between them in episode 3 has been talked about a bit, but what if he also engraved “crank it” into the inside of the rings?! 

Imagine Viktor noticing and giving a breathy little laugh and then looking at Jayce with fond exasperation, one eyebrow raised, and Jayce just looking back with a cheeky grin.
