Ok, so there is something that I've been thinking about since we're gotten the previews for The Owl House: The Long Lived King and learned that the reason that Amity is dressed the way that she is is because they are bringing back Abomination Funerals.
Abomination Funerals that Belos outlawed when he took the throne.
And well, it got me thinking about Darius being one of the rebels in the show and some of his motivations for being one. As well as possibly part of why Darius and Alador stopped being friends when they grew up.
Darius is part of Eda's generation. The generation that grew up with Emperor Belos in charge but also had parents that knew what the Boiling Isles were like before Belos ruled. I'm just saying it would be easy for him to get sources on what Abomination Funerals were like, what their actual purpose was, and how to do them.
With that in mind, I could see him wanting to be able to do them. He is a softie under that exterior. So growing up with Abomination Funerals being illegal could have had him questioning the Emperor a bit there.
And the first issue between him and Alador cropping up. As they grew and learned how to be Abomination Witches Darius started to question why they don't still do the funerals while Alador just went with what the adults told him was the norm. This could actually be the source of the feud between them. Just a philosophy/ethics debate that drove a wedge between them with time.
And then Darius has his mentor the Golden Guard. When he joined the Abomination Coven and gained his mentor he probably thought that he could change the system from the inside. After all, if he just rose in the ranks high enough he could convince the Emperor to bring back the Funerals. And maybe the Golden Guard at the time listened to him and agreed. And might have tried to change the Emperor's mind and died for his trouble. And the death of his mentor by Belos's hands wasn't just a turning point because of his death, but him realizing that the system could not be changed from the inside.
Just I think that would be neat for Darius.
