“… human…”
That had Vivi heaving a soft sigh. Perhaps not. He still felt human, despite everything. He knew what he was, and he knew there were people who would disagree and tell him that no matter what, he wasn’t human. People would try to take that away from him, and at the end of the day, Vivi couldn’t blame them for it.
He’d still be himself, no matter what.
“I’m a Black Mage,” was what he finally decided on. Taking a step back to put some more distance between the two of them again, Vivi quietly raised his hands, readjusting his hat for a moment before continuing his train of thought. “It’s not very nice to tell people what they are or aren’t.”
He’d change the subject, then. Vivi had answered all he felt comfortable telling, and even if he was pestered, he didn’t want to tell anything further. “Do you ever get dizzy floating around upside-down?”
Ha ha ha ha.
A flat, nearly unamused laugh could be heard from him, a telltale sound that many close to him had come to associate with Haiji’s enjoyment in a discovery. So he’d been correct in assuming this creature was something related to the tales of old, despite how outlandish the hypothesis may have seemed.
“A Black Mage. So you can do what could be called black magic?” he asked, the cue to switch topics flying right over (or, well... under, in this case) his head. “The goal of science isn’t to be nice, it is to discover truth. Humans are not chimpanzees the same way cats are not dogs. Different species are inherently not the same.”
Whatever a Black Mage turned out to be -- which Haiji would inevitably find out; he was beginning to reach out in an attempt to grasp at the hat and pull it away -- it was not human.
“No, I don’t. The force of gravity on my body is the same as it is on yours, it is simply being pulled in a direction with enough force to allow me to float like this.”
