Kuroo walked back into his dorm. His body felt heavy. His mind was foggy. The lack of sleep seemed to catch up to him during the walk from his lecture room to his dorm.
The sound of the door alerted Bokuto who was sitting on the couch in a place that had visuals on the entrance.
The shorter bounded towards Kuroo, a look of concern on his face. He grabbed Kuroo’s face in his hands and studied it closely.
“God, you look exhausted. Did you even sleep last night?” Kuroo leaned into the touch of his boyfriend, knowing, no, seeing that Bokuto looked as tired as he did. The hands left his face only to grab his hand and pull him towards Kuroo’s bedroom.
“Daichi is just showering. He should be out soon,” Kuroo nodded at the information and sank into Bokuto who sat next to him on the bed. The shorter didn’t say anything and engulfed Kuroo into his arms, nosing into his hair and kissing the top of his head. Bokuto moved their bodies so Kuroo was sitting cross-legged and Bokuto sitting on his lap with his legs wrapped around Kuroo’s body. They were both still recovering from the event just last night. The worry of that horrible man following them back to the dorm and breaking in. The anxiety of what would have happened if Daichi had been a second late as the man had reached out for Kuroo's arm. The words of hate he screamed at them.
They rang in both of their ears.
Kuroo noticed Bokuto started shaking. He lifted his head to meet with Bokuto’s only to see that tears fell down his face.
"Kou?-" "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. He almost grabbed you and I couldn't do anything," A sob was ripped from Bokuto’s throat as he placed his head onto Kuroo's shoulder. The latter sat there in shock as the boy in his lap fell apart. He was scared, he never thought this would happen. He suddenly realised how much anxiety the event had caused him. Nausea built up in his throat as he remembered when he had seen on the news a gay couple had been beaten almost to death in the streets not that long ago. He remembers rubbing Bokuto’s back, helping Daichi with cooking as his hands shook too much, he called Oikawa and made sure he and Suga were ok and called Yaku to make sure he and Iwaizumi were alright as well. He had stayed on call with Kenma and Akaashi all night.
And since Kuroo was masculine presenting they could have been another news story and that made the anxiety worse.
A knock at the door startled them both.
"Guys? I've got to talk to you," Daichi had a soft, comforting look on his face. Daichi walked towards the bed, climbed onto it and behind Kuroo and Bokuto. He then wrapped his arms around them and pulled them to his chest. They barely fit on the bed. Daichi was strong and as strong as both of them were, they needed to feel protected and safe. Daichi took a deep breath.
“I know now might not be a suitable time for you both but I need to say this. I really really like both of you. I’m sorry for being so distant but seeing you too together hurt and I thought you’d never like me back,” Daichi feels both Bokuto and Kuroo tense on top of him as he takes a breath.
“But I was encouraged by two scheming friends of mine. They told me that what I thought was true was really a lie and I was hurting you both. I hope that you will still take me?” He finished, it was more like a question than a statement. Whatever it was, Bokuto lifted his head from Daichi’s chest and quickly made eye contact with Kuroo. After getting a look from the latter Bokuto slammed his lips into Daichi’s. He could feel Kuroo’s lips attached to his neck. When Bokuto decided that he was done with Daichi he pulled away. Kuroo looked up at Daichi with big golden eyes.
“You’re ok me being Agender right? like romantically,” Daichi made a move this time kissing Kuroo nice and slowly. Daichi has known about Kuroo’s gender for a while and it didn’t affect how he felt about Kuroo. Not even for a second.
“Do you really think that I would care about how you identify?” Daichi asked
And with that it was made official.
