A look of amusement cast over his features, and CJ shrugged his shoulders, “You mean you don’t like the taste of piss when you’re getting dressed up all fancy to hang out with people who’ve seen how shitty they’ve all looked since like primary school?” He remarked, allowing a chuckle to emit from his lips as he eyed the punch bowl curiously. “For real though, I was just ‘bout to ask how long it was gonna take for someone to spike that shit – this might be a record for the longest ‘round here.”

Hailey let an amused smile grow across her features, rolling her eyes playfully. “Crazy how that’s hard to believe. I don’t like the taste of piss period, silly. But I like getting dressed up, everyone’s looking cute and fancy shmancy.” She looked around the room before following his gaze to the punch bowl. “I wonder how long it’ll take for one of the chaperones to figure it out. But who knows, they might actually be smart enough to let it be. You don’t want a taste?” She offered the cup to him again, mostly to get it out of her own hands.

      “This definitely – this definitely doesn’t taste all that great,” Leilani agrees with a scrunch of her nose, shaking her head as she passes the cup back over to the other girl, “I should’ve brought some juice boxes. I love juice boxes.”

Hailey placed the cup to the side as soon as it was handed back to her. “Yeah, I thought so.” She sighed, but her face quickly lit up at the mention of boxed juice. “You should’ve! Juice boxes are the best, with their bendy straws and cute box art. Way better than what the school’s punch has to offer.”

‘ YEAH, THAT’S PROBABLY MY FAULT. I TRIED TO SPIKE IT earlier and the punch/alkie ratio between the vodka and whatever punch brand this is didn’t really mix together very well. guilty as charged, but at least it’s pissing people off and that’s what i do best, so… ’

“Well, at least now I know it’s not actual piss. I don’t think anyone who tried the punch actually wanted punch anyway, everyone probably hoped it was spiked when pouring themselves a cup. But kudos to you, I guess. Quick question, did you pour all of the vodka into the punch or would you happen to have some left?”

Alvera accepted the cup, taking a sip from it and sloshing it around in her mouth for a minute before swallowing it and handing the cup back to the other. “I think it’s just the temperature that’s messing with your mind. You should have. Although I don’t think anyone else brought actual flasks, just water bottles that don’t have water in them.”

Hailey raised her eyebrows as she waited for the verdict, sighing once Alvera drank it without a problem. “Flasks are so much cuter than water bottles in my opinion. Mine has a cute floral design on it. Did you happen to bring a ‘water’ bottle, Alvera?”

“Obviously, mixed with alcohol. What a surprise.” Emma said in monotone. She shook her hand no when the other tried to offer her drink. “No, thank you. Anyways, you could’ve brought your own. Would’ve tasted better.”

“Yup, that’s my mistake. To be fair, I didn’t think punch could taste this bad. These guys have one job and they can’t even spike the punch correctly.” She shrugged. “I’m over it. How are you liking prom?”

Extending her arms as far as they could go, Helen sighed, a shrug lifting her shoulders. “ But it’s PROM, ” she insisted. “In a fair world all incidents before said night should be rightfully forgotten. —At least until the night is over. ”  Glancing around the room of inebriated teenagers, Helen shrugged a bit. “ We might need to take matters into our own hands.  Either waiting until someone is too drunk to notice their alcohol is gone or going out and finding our own. Desperate times, man. ”

“I agree with that completely, but my dad on the other hand...” Hailey trailed off, shaking her head and glancing around the room as well. She tried to pick faces of people she knew would be generous enough to share their alcohol with her. “Going out and finding our own seems like a lot of work, so I’m down for your first idea. I don’t mind waiting, as long as I get alcohol in my system at least some point tonight. It’s been too long.”

“Why would I wanna taste it if it doesn’t taste good?” Khalia questioned as she took the cup from the other. She looked down at the liquid for a moment before shrugging and taking a sip. “I think it’s okay feels like it’s missing something.”

“Um, maybe you’d like to see for yourself? There’s a chance you might like it and it’s just my taste buds.” Hailey watched as she sipped at it, raising an eyebrow at her. “Point proven. What do you think it’s missing?”

Mateo’s eyes widened slightly upon hearing her words, and his gaze flickered down to the cup in his hands in surprise. “I’m n-not too sure, actually.. I’ve k-kind of been u-using it as a prop th-this whole time.” He admitted, curiosity causing him to bring it up to his lips to the cup – followed by an immediate wince once he felt the liquid hit his lips and swallowed. “I f-feel like they’re um – th-they’re trying to punish us or s-something. Alcohol m-might make everyone l-liable to get kicked out m-more likely to get kicked out, t-to be honest.” Which he thought silently, wasn’t a horrible prospect now that it had crossed his mind.

Hailey giggled softly, "Punishing us with unbearable punch? Not that bad of an idea, I have to say. I wouldn't mind getting kicked out, honestly. I could go on an adventure, especially since I’m in great need of one after being locked away for two whole weeks.” She sighed as she looked around the snack table for any sign of a water bottle to no avail. She brought her attention back to the boy beside her, running a hand through her hair. “So, other than the horrible punch, how’s prom treating you? Is it everything you’ve ever imagined?”

“Why? You’ll want to remember this event. It’s a one time thing, after all. Well I’ve never really drinking too much. to be honest. Is it that fun?” She shrugged. “Yes it does. It tastes like alcohol.”

“Eh, I went last year with some guy for his senior prom. I really don’t see why people hype up prom to be this magical evening. Whatever, I guess, if it makes the people happy. Personally, I think being drunk is a great feeling, but it depends on the person.” Hailey sighs heavily, “Are you sure? It tastes like someone literally peed in the punch to me.”

“Uh no thanks I don’t drink school punch because without a doubt someone always spikes it.” Bo couldn’t help but roll her eyes, “Bot i’m sure someone has a flask if you don’t like it.”

“It doesn’t even taste like it’s spiked, it just tastes awful.” A frown formed on her lips. “Yeah, I think I’m going to end up finding someone with their own drink. Have you been on the dance floor yet? Is it musty?”

“Want some?” Knox asked  signalling to his own flask. “I’ve never really been a fan of punch anyway.”

“Hey, thanks.” Hailey took the flask into her hand gratefully. She took a swig and handed it back to him almost immediately afterwards. “Same here. I don’t enjoy these dances anymore, and now apparently I need something to help me through them. How much time do we have left?”

Annie made a sour face as soon as she heard the descriptive word Hailey used regarding the punch and she held her hand up in a negating gesture. “Uh, no thanks. I’ll take your word for it. You’d think they could have done something a little less plebeian than punch for prom.”

Hailey shrugged and tossed the cup into a nearby trashcan, the smell already making her nauseous. “I expected nothing less, shitty punch is almost a tradition. At least the food isn’t too bad, for finger sandwiches and such.”

“Wait is it spunk?” She took the cup from Hailey. “A flask? Seriously?” She took a sip.

“Being anything but sober for these events is the right way to go. I mean, do I really want to remember how horrible everyone is at dancing? So yes, a flask. Doesn’t it taste weird?” She frowned slightly, referring to the punch.

“ Hah, yeah… I’ll take your word for it, honestly. ”  He said, face mimicking hers as he watched her expression sour. “ I think that’s sorta the idea with any high school party, you know ?  Who knows what they ever put in the punch ?  You’re better of providing for yourself. ”

“Smart idea.” Hailey stuck her tongue out as she set the cup down and searched for something that’d help her get rid of the aftertaste. “My old school always had  the best spiked punch, but this just tastes bad. Lesson learned, although I think this is the last prom I’ll ever attend, being a senior and all.”

Groaning a bit, Helen lifted the cup to her lips and took a small sip. “ Definitely piss. ”  Smacking her lips for a moment, a grimace shifted her features. “ I think as long as you got your pre-drink on, waiting until after prom shouldn’t be that painful. ”

Hailey sighed as she took the cup back from the girl, letting it fall gently onto the table beside them. “Getting my pre-drink on couldn’t have been any more impossible with my dad around. He’s still a little pressed about the whole car thing. I should find someone who’s nice enough to share.”

“Is it just me or does this punch taste like piss?” Hailey scrunches her nose up, handing the cup to the other for a sip. “I should’ve just jumped on the bandwagon and brought my flask.”
