Kim nodded. “Okay, I get it. Hailey whatever it is I understand. Don’t worry about it.” She wasn’t about to push the other when clearly she wasn’t ready. Hailey said she wanted to talk about it but obviously wasn’t completely ready to do that just yet. “We all have secrets. Yours is safe with me.” She knew one day she would get the information out of Hailey but today was not that day. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. Ruzek isn’t into me.” She knew exactly what Hailey was talking about and tried to play it off as if she didn’t. Knowing that she needed to tell Adam to stop with the flirty looks at work. “My secret?” Kim tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. “There really is no secret.”
Taking a deep breath, Hailey looked at Kim and formed a small smile on her lips "Thank you." She whispered, and then swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. This was hard, this was so hard to keep it under wraps and the blonde felt like she could easily let something slip. Hailey was trying her best not too. The moment Kim called it a secret, Hailey's heart sunk. She didn't want her relationship with Garrett to be a secret, but that's what it was. Getting lost within her thoughts, a smirk now appeared on her lips and Hailey nodded her head "Kim, the man has heart eyes for you. He looks at you like you're the only person in the room. He looks at you like you're the love of his life." She protested and then finally closed her locker, stopping herself or a moment the blonde shook her head "If there really is no secret, then I'll stop here."

“Yeah under different circumstances. Those I couldn’t control. This time I can help make sure you don’t end up there.” She pointed at her. Leslie didn’t like to see Hailey like this but she was one of the few who knew what happened down there. Hailey wasn’t allowed to tell anyone else what had happened. “You don’t have to drink alone when i’m around.” She sipped on her drink some more and set it down. “You have to lie to her. There’s nothing else you can do right now. Make up something. Tell her you were engaged it didn’t end well. Say he left you. It’s not a lie. He left we just don’t know where he is.” As Hailey kept speaking she sighed. “Good, it’s none of her business anyways.” Leslie didn’t want her friend getting to worked up about this. “You need to talk to someone. You need to see if you can get a therapist.” Shay didn’t typically recommend this to everyone but it was really effecting Hailey. “I can ask Severide if he knows anyone. I won’t tell him why he has a lot of connections everywhere. I really don’t think he’s going to turn up though.”
"Even though it was a shitty night, and even though I ruined your New Years I'm glad it was your ambo. I don't think I would've been able to handle myself if it was a different ambo." Hailey admitted and then looked at Leslie, taking a deep breath the blonde stopped drinking. This wasn't healthy and Hailey knew it. "Well thank you, I'm glad you're always coming to my rescue with this shit." Hailey said and then closed her eyes for a moment, trying to catch her breath. It felt heavier to breathe these days. "He didn't leave me Shay, he was murdered and he's not coming back. I know they haven't classified it as a murder, but I know he was murdered. Booth killed him in cold blood." Hailey suddenly felt sick to her stomach, and the blonde walked over to her kitchen windows and opened them up for some fresh air and then headed back over to the counter. The blonde knew Kim wouldn't tell a soul, well she didn't know Kim that well yet, but Hailey knew Kim was solid. Resting her head in her hands, Hailey closed her eyes and then looked at Shay "How am I supposed to talk to a therapist if I can't talk about the case and Garrett?" She questioned, raising an eyebrow at her friend and then Hailey felt tears form in her eyes "Please ask him. I know he has a lot of connections from what you've told me, so maybe he can see if he knows anyone who worked with Booth. Maybe" Shrugging her shoulders, Hailey got chills all up and down her body, she hated the man who took the love of her life away from him "Enough about me though." She said quietly and then looked at her friend "How have you been?"

“I’ll be there. I always will no matter how high shit hits the fan.” The whole point of loyalty was not to change: stick with those who stuck with you. No matter the situation that was what one was supposed to do. And Judson would never stray from that aspect when it came to the blond. Especially after what she had gone through and was currently experiencing. “You have every right to do what’s best for you. What is best for your coping.” There was no rulebook. Everyone was different. Fuck it would be easier if there was some set of norms you could follow with instances like this one. But pain and death of a loved one that was something no words could diagnose. You were on your own but Judson would make every effort to make sure that she didn’t have to be. Judson was no stranger with loss and maybe that was why she felt so open and comfortable around him. He was grateful that she confided in him and him mirroring that as well with his past loss with his own brother.
Judson sipped casually from the glass in front of him. This time was about her. The man could tell the weight was still so heavy. He hoped this brought her some comfort after the day they had. Least her thoughts could be voiced to his listening ears. She didn’t have to be alone. Honestly, at night one’s thoughts were wild and uncontrollable. “Shit I’m glad we all never did drunk karaoke then.” He cracked a small joke as a smile was offered her way. “That bastard wouldn’t talk anyways. You’ll only add more stress to yourself.” He was quick to note. Judson could only nod though. “You know someone told me once - That we never really lose the ones we love. They accompany us and they don’t disappear. They just merely are in different rooms.” The man wasn’t too much on the sentimental stuff but in moments like this he thought it was needed.
"This is why I love you, because you're my best friend and I honestly don't know what I would do without you. You know that I'm always here for you too, right?" She questioned, and it was true, Hailey would always be there for Judson. The blonde knew him, she knew about his past and she cared for him deeply. Taking a deep breath, Hailey sighed "Speaking of, I realized I've been selfish and haven't asked how you were doing. You were under with me too, and you've seen as much shit as I did. You were also good friends with Garrett to. How are you doing?" She questioned, it sounded stupid now coming from her after she's been talking about her for the past hour, but Hailey really wanted to make sure Judson was okay too. Listening to Judson talk about what would be best for her to cope, Hailey shrugged her shoulders and her lips quivered "I don't know what's best for me anymore. I don't know how to cope with this." She finished the alcohol that was sitting in front of her. The blonde didn't realize how mentally and physically exhausted she was until now.
Letting out a small laugh, Hailey's eyes soon filled with water again and she tried so hard to keep them in. "Yup. He was terrible, but I loved it every time. Usually it was Leaving On A Jet Plane which I have no idea why because that song is heartbreaking, but it was ours. The last song he sang to me was happy birthday. If I can just go back and have him sing it more for me." She closed her eyes for a moment, and then a small smile appeared on her face "He swore to me not to tell until we got back from being under cover, but Garrett wanted you to be his best man." Shrugging her shoulders, Hailey still couldn't believe she lost the love of her life. Hailey nodded her head as to what Judson said next "I know he won't talk. I just.., I just want some answers." Shaking her head, Hailey yawned a little and then looked at Judson "I wish he was in this room right now." She whispered and then moved from the counter to the couch. "Are you okay though, really? Please talk to me about how you're feeling because we experienced some crazy shit together this past year."

Raising her eyebrows as Hailey said she was on her third cup. “Hailey, slow down. What is going on with you tonight?” Leslie knew that the other women was going through a lot right now but she didn’t realize it was getting this bad. The way she was drowning out the world wasn’t going to end well. “Eventually things won’t be so hard but you don’t need to kill your liver in the process. I’m not trying to put you in the back of my ambo.” Pointing at her friend. When Hailey said to drink Leslie picked up her drink and took a sip. There it was that was what was bothering her tonight. “What did she say to you? I mean, what did you say? You can’t tell her what happened.” Shay knew that much.
As soon as Leslie asked what was going on with her, Hailey laughed and shook her head "What isn't wrong with me.." She said bitterly and then decided to pour herself another thing of Whiskey. This was her fourth cup now and the woman wasn't sure if this was a good idea, but she needed it. At least only for tonight, Hailey raised her eyebrows at Shay and then laughed again "I was already in the back of your ambo, remember?" She questioned, shrugging her shoulders and took a deep breath "Ah see, there you go. I thought I was going to be drinking alone tonight." Hailey said as Leslie finally took a sip of the alcohol, the blonde looked at her friend and felt tears fill up in her eyes "I know I can't tell her what happened. I'm under orders. If I talk I get fired, but how am I supposed to explain an engagement ring? What am I supposed to do, lie?" She questioned, this was all becoming too much. She truly had no idea on how to deal with this "I stupidly forgot to put my engagement ring away safe in my car before heading in and had it out in the open in my locker. She saw it and started asking questions. I sounded like an idiot because I couldn't say anything." Sighing, Hailey finally took a sip of her fourth cup "Kim won't tell anyone I'm engaged,. or well was. I don't even know. Am I still engaged even though my fiance is missing and dead?" She laughed a little and then shook her head "I don't know how to do this Shay." All choked up Hailey felt a lump form in her throat "Please tell me how to handle this. I feel like Im on the verge of an emotional breakdown." Hailey looked at Shay and sighed “Sorry, Im just...” Letting out a shaky breath, Hailey shook her head “Do you know any MES, maybe you can tell them to call me if they find a male in his mid 30s with a broken shoulder..” She knew that wasn’t healthy, and she knew Shay would probably disagree but Hailey needed at least something in order to sleep at night

Kim nodded as she spoke seeing the other was getting emotional over it. “You don’t have to talk about it.” She understood that it was a tough subject. “When ever you’re ready or want to talk i’m here.” Kim nodded looking down. She wasn’t sure that it was a good situation or what happened. She didn’t mean to upset the other women though. “Okay.” When Hailey asked if anyone was in her life she was taken back and rubbed the back of her necked. “Me? No. I’m single. Very much single.” She nodded. Not a complete lie there was someone but she wasn’t ready for the world to know that piece of information yet.
Hailey sighed as Kim said she didn't have to talk about it. It wasn't that, it wasn't that at all, the blonde wanted to talk about it. She wanted to tell people she was in love, and she engaged to the man of her dreams but Hailey couldn't and wasn't allowed too. He was dead, and the blonde didn't know how to spring that sort of information on someone. She was under orders not to talk about it either which made it even more difficult for her. Hailey cleared her through after getting lost within her thoughts and Hailey opened her mouth to speak "I want to.., it's just complicated and hard to understand." Hailey said quietly and then looked at Kim "This is why I keep things under wraps because I sound a little crazy." She laughed nervously and wiped the tears she didn't know that formed in her eyes and Hailey smiled softly at Kim "Oh yeah? You sure?" Hailey questioned, not wanting to push but the blonde smirked "I see the way Ruzek looks at you.. but hey.. none of my business. If you’re single,. you’re single.” Hailey said but then continued with “Since my secret is safe with you, then yours is safe with me if anything.”

Ryder nodded his head at her, glad that all was well between them. It was good that none of them got hurt, the worst that happened were a few papers all over the floor. He titled his head to the side. “Do you want me to stop calling you that? I mean, I don’t want to make it awkward for you or something, I just tend to give nicknames to the people I like.” He said with a smile. Ryder chuckled. “Seriously, I have nothing to do, I’m just going for a walk or head home and be alone all day. If there’s anything I can help you with, I would like to.” He paused. “Well, you know I really like you guys and your company so I don’t mind.”
To be honest Hailey didn't care about the papers, she just needed them to be in order for her to hand them over to Voight and thankfully they were. The blonde smiled at him and shook her head "No, it's grate. Hails was a nickname I had when I was a kid, and like I said only a few call me that now but I like it." Hailey said nodded her head "I get it, my brothers name is Desmond and I call him Des. I give nicknames too." Hailey took a breath and gripped onto the files and then looked at him "I might need you to help me look at these files and see if anyone one in here called 911 in the last couple of days. I know it's shitty details."

Undercover for a year. Ouch. Gabby nodded, not having a full understanding of what that was like, but knowing bits and pieces from her experiences with Antonio. “Yeah, that’s gotta be tough.” Gabby knew she couldn’t imagine a year of her life spent as someone else. Or even somewhere else. “How’s it been moving into intelligence. From what I hear, it can be intense.” That wasn’t really a secret, was it? Plus, Gabby had more than just Antonio’s word to go off of at this point. She gave a light chuckle, agreeing with a brief nod. “51 isn’t too bad, but it always depends on who makes it.” Some of her coworkers still didn’t understand the best grounds-to-water ratio. She reached out for the cup, giving Hailey a thanks. The smell of the coffee reached her immediately, providing a comforting warmth. “Still in an adjustment period, huh?”
Hailey nodded her head and spoke quietly "A little, but you get back into the swing of things. I'm sure Antonio has a bunch of stories. I heard he did some UC work for a while." She said, not really sure if that was right as the blonde didn't know much about Antonio other than he was married and had a family. "It's a little intense, definitely a lot different than Robbery-Homicide but I like it. I needed something different." She admitted and then took a deep breath, the blonde realized this is the most she's talked since transferring. "I agree with that statement." Laughing a little, Hailey formed a small smile on her lips and nodded "Yeah, I keep forgetting that my name is Hailey and not Kelly like it was while under.” She joked but was being half serious, this Under Cover case messed with her. Hailey shook her head and sighed “I was under pretty deep. I’m glad to be back though. How’s the coffee this time?” Hailey asked

Sometimes when dealing with grief just being there for someone in silence brought miles of comfort. There was no right answer in these terms. Even as much as Judson wished there were. He could only offer his friend support, whatever she deemed fit. Judson nodded upon her words. She sought closure. The idea of not knowing would kept anybody awake at night. The unknown was a pure bitch. “Just don’t do anything drastic alright? Well, if you get the feeing - call me so I can come along for that ride.” He noted. It wasn’t something he pegged the blond to do but Judson couldn’t blame her. Certainly, to any normal person with feelings - the thoughts were sure to plague anyone’s mind. “If anything turns up, no matter how big or small I’ll be there. You have my word.” It was another promise he could fulfill. Judson ultimately wanted to give her clarification that she didn’t have to battle this on her own. He would try to find answers for her too.
“I guess that just means I have to prove all of them wrong.” The smallest of smiles being formed and shown her way. Tears didn’t scare him. In fact, it only wanted him to be more close to her. She was vulnerable. Everyone was in some sort of way. He appreciated that she could let loose in front of him. He certainly would never hold such a thing against her - never. But it made him want to protect her more. Regardless, of her strong character. “We all are. Don’t forget that. You’ve gone through a shit ton of trauma. You’re still standing. That’s hell of a lot more then most can say. Like I said, you really don’t know how strong you really are. If you really want to see a mess, you should see how I am with needles now. I probably shouldn’t have told you that.” He laughed upon his own confession. Obviously, in hopes it would stray her from her own hardships at that very moment. “You don’t have to ask me twice.” The man was quick to nod. She needed him so his answer would never be no. Loyalty is the backbone of every friendship. There wasn’t much Judson wouldn’t do for the people he cared for. “Come on, let’s get you home. I’ll stay as long as you need me to.” His arm wrapping around her waist as he led her out of their locker room. By her side he would be through thick and thin.
She knew that Judson was the one who would never leave her, or well if he did, she knew that he would try to come back to her. That was the type of friendship they had, in a million tiny ways Judson had saved her somehow. He always had her back and she always had his, the woman knew what he had gone through within his past and he knew what she had gone through and what she is going through. It was always nice to have someone in your corner. Listening to him talk, his voice brought her a sense of calm she hasn't felt in a long time and Hailey smiled softly "I promise I won't do anything drastic, but I will call you if I feel like it." Hailey replied quietly, and then took a deep breath. This was so hard, and Hailey had no idea if she was handling this whole situation right, but there was no right or wrong way to handle this "I told the ME to call me if she found a male, mid thirties with a broken shoulder. I know that's probably not healthy but I need to.." Stopping herself for a minute, Hailey sighed "I just want to know if he's.. if he's okay. I know he's dead and I know he's not coming back, I just want to make sure he's okay." It was silly when Hailey said that, but she knew Judson wouldn't judge
After the two had gotten back to her apartment, Hailey poured herself a thing of whiskey and then poured a thing of whiskey for Judson. She propped her elbows up on the counter, and let her head rest in her hands. Rest, it was something she probably really needed but Hailey knew she couldn't do that. She threw herself into work when things got like this and the blonde sighed. She looked exhausted, mentally. "Did you know he used to sing to me?" Hailey questioned Jud, and then laughed a little "He was absolutely terrible, but it was one of my favorite things and I miss it. Why does this have to be so fucking hard Jud? I don't get it. I just want answers, and if I can talk to Booth somehow, maybe not even as Kelly but as me, Hailey then maybe he'll give me some answers. But you know how Booth is, so probably no t. I know he's the one who did it." Letting out a shaky breath, Hailey let the tears finally fall she didn't know she was holding in "I hate this. I hate that I don't know how to deal with this." She folded her arms across her chest and looked at Jud “I just want to hear his voice one last time.”

Ryder felt horrible as soon as he saw Hailey was the one he had bumped into and the files that were all over the floor now. He knee down as well, tried his best to help her out without getting anything mixed up. “My fault though, I should’ve been paying more attention as well.” He sighed, shaking his head as he stood back up. “I’m never busy for you Hails.” He said playfully, offering her a smile. “For real though, it’s my day off so I got nothing to do. Do you need anything?” He asked, titling his head to the side.
After Ryder helped Hailey re-collect the files that splattered all of ther floor, she smiled softly and nodded to him a thanks. She shook her head in disagreement "Really, don't worry about it Ry." Hailey said, and then wondered why he was at Med, figured she'd ask him later. Laughing a little, Hailey smiled softly "You know, no one has ever called me Hails before. Well, expect for my brothers and ex." Taking a deep breath, Hailey held tightly onto the files and then realized it was his day off "Oh, well if it's your day off then don't worry about it. You're with us all the time, enjoy your day Ry."

“what?” she gasped as she took an extra look at the box and wrinkled her nose. hailey had a point but she was committed to stick to her assessment. “they’re not exactly fresh, but they’re good. i promise.” she took one out and took a bite. “see?” and then immediately after she grabbed a napkin to throw out the very nasty bite. hailey was definitely right. she threw it in the trash and drank a bit of water. “damn it, there was a fresh baked box right before the bells rang. third shift must have traded them, those bastards.” she then drew her attention to the detective. “sorry. you must’ve come here for a reason. did you catch the responsible for the explosion this morning?”
hailey laughed a little and looked at her friend, the confidence that stella had with everything is something hailey wish she had or would at least try and get back. watching the brunette take a bite of the cronut, hailey made a face and then shook her head "stella, if you get some type of food poisoning then don't come crying to me. i told you those things look nasty." she said joking but was being half serious and then looked at her "you sure they were freshly baked?" hailey questioned, raising her eyebrows and then shook her head "yeah, we caught the bastard. i might be going to molly's sometime tonight, but i also kind of want to stay home and watch another romcom, you in? i'll buy you better cronuts."

Shay had just got home from her shift and was taking a shower. After getting out she saw a text from Hailey asking if she wanted to come over. She was down considering she didn’t have to work tomorrow she could afford to stay out for a while. Getting dressed she headed over to Hailey’s place. Once there she could tell Hailey was already drinking a lot. “Something stronger? No, not right now.” When she said she needed something stronger Leslie shook her head. “Are you okay?” She asked her friend. “Of course i’ll get drunk on a Tuesday night. You know my schedule never makes sense.”
it was one of those nights when hailey wished she could feel tired but the woman didn't. she hasn't slept in what feels like months and the blond really needed sleep. alcohol usually made her sleep, especially whiskey but the detective was on her third cup and hailey looked at shay "you sure? i mean, i'm not sure what's stronger than whiskey at least for me. i'm on my third cup, kind of want another one." hailey said shrugging her shoulders and then laughed a little at shay's question "i'm fine. well not really, but ill get over this eventually." she sighed, and then took one final sip of her drink "so then come on shay, drink up please." she joked but was being half serious "burgess found out that im engaged today." hailey finished the last bit of alcohol that was left in her glass and let it burn down her throat “i thought i was doing good shay. i thought i was doing good with not letting people know who i am, and what had happened. she doesn't know what happened, she just knows that im.. that i was engaged. the only people who know almost everything about me are you, and judson.”
