I hate Jax, she’s not a good person and an abuser (goose herself has said that). And I have a lot of opinions on the finale, however, what makes me the maddest is when ppl hate on Jax wrong. Like yes, Jax is a trans woman, yes, she’s still misogynistic and abusive and a bad person. People who think Jax isn’t trans seem to think that trans people can’t be bad. But I do think it’s important to have minority characters that are flawed. I mean I once saw someone argue that because Caine makes the rooms the members’ worst insecurities, Jax can’t be trans because her room was feminine, and wouldn’t a trans woman like a feminine room? NO???? Like they thought trans people couldn’t be ashamed of being trans?? Jax obviously didn’t have a great upbringing and her own mom was (likely) transphobic, why would she enjoy living in her biggest shame?
My issue with Jax is that she took so much screen time, like 20 minutes for what could be a five or ten minute thing. Personally I think the convo with Ribbit could be the whole thing and then we would have more time with the other characters. And the show seems to forget about the other characters! Like everyone’s so up in arms about Jax being trans when Zooble’s RIGHT THERE. Also Jax had mommy issues, so did Ragatha. I think if Zooble and Ragatha had more time, it could’ve shown that Jax could’ve changed and didn’t, rather than having it all be Jax to show the same point. And then Gangle was basically reduced to nothing, if we had more of her it could’ve better illustrated that Jax was a bad person (rather than just saying, yknow show don’t tell). I mean even with Kinger (and Ragatha) you can show how Jax changed and got colder the longer she was in the circus or smth. More time with Pomni could mean show how she had one more chance and still didn’t take it. I mean in all, just let the other characters have more screen time, I don’t even care that much about Jax!
And also at the end they made everyone so sad about Jax. I feel like Gangle and Zooble should’ve had a longer conversation about moving on from Jax and how it’s okay to not mourn him that much even though she knew her for a while, maybe Gangle would even be a little sad while still acknowledging she was a bad person. Zooble wouldn’t care, like they’re the second newest and have never liked Jax, even though in ep 8 (I think) they tried to help her not abstract, like they were just doing that to be kind, I feel like they’d be more like “oh well” than sad. Ragatha would maybe pretend to be sad, probably be more so sad about how Jax could’ve changed and had potential. Pomni would be the only one sad but I feel like she should’ve acknowledged Jax’s wrong doings at some point, I feel like she constantly was babying Jax and helping her out instead of talking to the other members. ALSO RAGATHA AND POMNI NEVER HAD THEIR TALK. AT THE END OF EPISODE FOUR OR FIVE (idrk) THEY SAID THEYD TALK AFTER THE AWARDS SHOW AND THEY DIDNT. ALSO JAX TELEPORTED IN THE FIRST EPISODE. NO ONE EVER BRINGS THOSE TWO THINGS UP AND I FEEL CRAZY, LIKE IK THEYRE LIGHT PLOT HOLES BUT STILL LIKE WHAT
