The End of All Things.
Hakyeon had no clue why he'd been pulled out of practice. He'd been working on Septembers evaluation, and truely, he hadn't even been /that/ mean to his team members. "What's up coach?" Coach Jo always seemed to get involved in his stuff. Had someone whined about him again? "This time, I can't help you kid" was all the man said, leading him towards the administration side of Royal. Hakyeon knew he wasn't an innocent person in life, but if the always tipsy, made-too-many-poor-choices-for-life Coach Jo thought he was beyond help, the company must have found one of his worse things. That he'd slept with half the company? The nude picture that would haunt his whole life? But the minute the office door swung open, he knew.
Saeyoung, his very secret wife sat there. And it looked like she'd been crying. Seo Jisub was handing her a tissue while she placed a hand gently over her stomach.
Things had not been peaceful at home. Everytime he got somewhere with work, she'd be upset he was ignoring her, if he tried to spend time with her, she'd whine he was trying to placate her. No amount of explimations or meaningless apologies helped. In the six months of their marraige, he'd fallen out of love with her. And he had thought she knew it. Now he knew, she knew, and she was angry.
"It seems Saeyoung has some interesting news for us." Seo Jisub said. Hakyeon had amost forgotten they'd met at the company, and the company officals knew who she was. "For a time now, my staff and I have turned a blind eye to your...escapades. But this is too far." Hakyeon hadn't even full walked into the room and he was being fired for being married. Not completly uncalled for, but still upsetting. "Your behavior has prove you are too much of a risk to debut under my label, or anyone elses. I recommend you step out of the industry, or things can, and they will, pop up."
On the desk, he noticed his original contract sat. A person from legal made himself known to the room. "We're disolving your contract, conditonally. You keep quiet about ever being a trainee, Royal maintains the rights to all creative work you produce, we won't charge you the fees for getting out of this, which are qite hefty and-" he glanced at Saeyoung "we believe you'll need them."
Hakyeon was quiet, until Jisub spoke "You will not have a chance like this again, agree or you will be held to every stipulation in the contract, to it's fullest extent." Seayoung wouldn't meet his eyes. He stared at her, hard. She knew his whole life was wrapped up in debuting. She knew, and he knew, she'd done this to ruin him. He didn't take his eyes off of her but said "Okay."
With one last stroke of the pen, Hakyeon’s idol career was over. The dissolution of his trainee contract and the signing of his gag order went quickly, he didn't even sit down, and when he made to leae, Saeyoung stood with him. Did she think he'd allwo her back in the apartment after this? He knew he'd be filing for divorce in the morning. He didn't care what it took, hell, he'd become one of his dad's pawns in business if it meant-
"Oh and Cha Hakyeon-" Seo Jisub called, seated behind his desk, head propped on his hands "Congratualtions on the baby. Hopefully you'll be a good father."
Hakyeon felt the wind get knocked out of him. He looked to the CEO and too Saeyoung. He knew her face. This wasn't a lie. If anything she must have told the company days ago and they had full proof. His life was changed in that instant.
Upon his bag rests a plain envelope for whenever he returns, Jieun’s messy handwriting to be recognized spelling out his name. Inside there is a letter, written because she felt the need to, even if she knew that he wasn’t the type of person who was all that sentimental.
“ Dear Chasanova,
I’ll be gone soon. I came to the final conclusion that Royal was only a stop along my way rather than my destination. Us being here together for two years, both signed on the same day, I always felt like we had a special kind of comfort in between. I hope that won’t be lost when I’m no longer in Royal. I’d love to remain in touch with you.
It’s been two years now and honestly, would you have thought for our friendship to develop the way it did? When I look back I still laugh at the fact I didn’t even find you handsome in the beginning. *insert shocked gasp* You’ve become a very important person to me, a friend, a shoulder to lean (and sleep) on as well as a person whom I could always rely on to catch me should I fall (especially in yoga class).
With Daehyun, Hongbin and Joey gone, you’re now the longest known male trainee in royal! I’m sure you’ll still make it far here in this company.
Before I get too sappy though, i’m ending it here. I don’t want you tearing the paper because you’re too disgusted by my sappiness haha!
Let’s stay friends, okay? We’ll surely meet on stage on day!
Yours,
Jieun ♥ ”
This not at all what Hakyeon expected. He had a long list of names he tried not to think about day after day in the company. The new ink was barely dry on his own freshly signed contract, and now he found himself alone. His “generation” of Royal had all left now. And he thought Jieun would last.
Every day in the company was a psychological game. One day the coaches would pair them up, make them rely on each other to keep their chances of debut, create family units, only to tear them apart and not see each other for the next 3 months. They’d be asked to come in early, or stay late, sometimes told not to show up at all, but Hakyeon could count on Jieun to always be there. Literally from day one, they signed their trainee contracts one after another. Now he held the longest running title, but really, with his situation, for how long?
He’d made a promise to himself in the beginning to outlast the rest. Now he had. Now it was time to step up, move on. Now he had to debut.

i gotta make it || may eval, 2016
This month had passed in a haze at the company. To be fair a lot of things were going on in Hakyeon’s personal life and somewhere in the back of his mind, that told him that he was doing something wrong. The company didn’t want to become the background, the company wanted his work to be his whole life. They’d made that clear from day one.
Still he found himself taking a back seat with this evaluation. Figuring it was his last one, Hakyeon didn’t feel like putting his heart into it like before. Like one last shot to Seo Jisub- you spent all of this money on me, watch me be mediocre.
It was watching the others in his group that made him give a shit. Yien had grown more into a company man than expected. He only knew the other two in passing, Minsoo because of work, Key because of an long ago trip to a haunted house, but he could see what Royal saw in them. Even with the draining day to day schedule all of the boys had, the other three had- and Hakyeon was never one to describe anything this way, they had heart.
Their personalities would have maybe crashed with his own in another life when he wasn’t drained of his reason to be at the company, but now, he’d mellowed. He wasn’t really here anymore, or so he thought.
The day of the evaluations came not so long after his contract re-signing. HE thought the boys would have to struggle through without him, but here he was, standing side by side, in full uniform, a simple suit, with a tie, ready to step out.
For his teammates, for Seo Jisub, for his former labelmates, for his sister, for his family, for his wife, for himself, he gave it his all. 2 years of training and he was still standing on that stage. He’d gone farther than any of his friends. He was going to beat this game.
extra mushrooms, hold the cheese - Hakyeon & Jeongguk
Hakyeon was halfway to the door of his apartment before the bell even finished. He’d been waiting 45 minutes- no, a full hour for this pizza to arrive. He’d been just about to call the pizza place and complain but finally the delivery man had shown up. Of course as soon as Hakyeon had signed the receipt the man scooted out as fast as possible, probably trying to make up time for the shitty job he was doing, but who was Hakyeon to care?
The day had already been pretty standard, on the side of not okay. His wife had been scheduled all night shifts which was their only time together and had no option to not be scheduled during that time. So he was on night 4 of 6, eating dinner alone. Normally he was really good about his trainee diet, just tonight though, he had to act out a little. He thought a pizza would be satisfactory for that.
Of course when he opened it up, he found himself to be terribly wrong. There was cheese on this pizza. Look. Hakyeon would act out, yes, but he wasn’t insane. He’d told them to just put the sauce and veggies on the pizza, but none of this looked right. He snapped the box closed, already unlocking his cell phone to yell at the pizza guy when he noticed the receipt. Jeon Jeongguk “Who the fuck is Jeon Jeonguk?” He said out loud to an empty kitchen. Followed by an unfamiliar phone number with a description of a pizza that sounded an awful lot like the one in the box. The fool of a driver had switched orders with someone else. He hesitated upon finding the pizza places number, finger hovering over the call button, before he deleted the number, typing in a new one. A minute later “Hello- is this Jeon Jeonguk? This is going to sound weird but my name is Hakyeon and you are about to be delivered the wrong pizza”

{what happened in the morning the day Hakyeon resigned his contract}
With one last stroke of the pen, Hakyeon’s idol career was over. And he couldn’t bring himself to care.
well they haven’t offered me one either… [/she doesn’t mention just yet she already made the decision to leave regardless and instead purses her lips.] oh well. you do what you think is right. [/patting his shoulder comfortingly, she holds up her other fist.] I got your back! let’s go get you married, hm?
[he nods knowing that if jieun would cheerfully watch him march into hell if he presented the idea in the right light, so her support is appreciated. ] “Yes, yes! Let’s go get me married!.”
[fin]
[/parts her lips to say something but closes her lips again, pursing them together instead.] okay sounds fair enough…. but what will you do if he actually gives you a contract? [/takes the box from him to look at the rings.] holy shit- they’re gorgeous hak! [/looks back at him with a raised brow.] you’re really serious about her, huh? [/can’t help but grin.]
“It won’t happen. If they wanted to keep me they would have signed me already. If they wanted to debut me- well I wouldn’t find the time to have a girlfriend, now would I?” [he looks down at his lap] “I’ve just decided it’s time to grow up.” [he shuts the ring box lid] “It’s going to be just signing documents at city hall, but we’re also going to the Catholic church for a small formal ceremony. “
[/she gives him a lowkey judging glance, unable to believe how he can give her such a lack of appreciation for all her rushed efforts.] seriously- wait what? so I was right after all?! [/eyes widen she stares at him then blinks.] won’t so jisub have your ass for this? I mean- sure if you need me it’s an honor I’m just- concerned? idols are usually not married?
[he shrugs] Today is the last day of my contract. And uh...Seo Jisub hasn’t offered an extension. I figured I’m going to live a little. [hakyeon leans over her lap and opens the glove box pulling out a ring box] You were the one who was all pro romance anyways.
[/text - chasanova] → : ) ♥ u love me~~ → I’m coming down now!
[and so she does, tugging at the hem of her dress a last time before stumbling into the elevator as she puts on her heels halfway. a minute later she’s down, tossling her hair a little into shape and spotting his car immediately.] yo! [/jieun calls and tries to run over without stumbling, exhaling a breath when she’s finally in the passenger seat.] soooo what’s all this about now, huh?!
[hakyeon pops the locks up so she can get in, adjusting his bangs in the mirror one more time while jieun adjusts in the car] Good you look like a girl today, that’s helpful! So- You wanna be my best man?
