“Um, well, to be honest I’m not really sure what couples are left out there… It’s been a while since I’ve seen a lot of people, and I know things change, especially during war. However, I did hear that Khaeris is with someone, Pollux I believe? I’d want to have them over for dinner because Khaeris is a good friend to Cen, and she seems to make good choices. We’ve met Pollux a few times, but never really talked to him in a private setting. Athena and Haly are of course on there, as they are some of my favorite people and I consider them both family. And for the last, it’d likely be Xanelan and Meryn. They are adorable, and it’s been some time since we’ve talk to either of them.”

3. What rp trends are you so over and can’t wait for it to die?

That would be when people treat others as trophies, just something to collect and say they have it but then put it on a shelf and forget about it. I’ve had this happen to me more than once. They start rping with me, start a story and then get a point where they have me, usually by shipping with my character romantically or some other kind of deep, involved storyline. But then everything just kind of dwindles off slowly and there’s less and less interaction. And it comes to a point where I’m constantly asking for RP but it never happens anymore.

I really don’t get it. Why start something like that if you have no intention of continuing it long-term? If you’re not really that interested, why bother?  Just don’t string me along, you know? If I’m going to have my character shipped or deeply involved in a story with someone, I want that person to continue to rp with me long-term on a regular basis. Not just like once a month for a couple hours, unless that’s something that we both agree OOC is okay.

Maybe sometimes people forget that there are real people behind these characters and people are not objects for you to collect and forget about or just string along for weeks and months only to waste their time and effort.

I keep seeing this happen not just to me but to others as well and I just hate it.

The last crate was set down, but there were no greetings exchanged, no pleasantries. The ragtag bunch of mercenaries looked downright disgruntled as they returned to the dolyak cart. 

Several climbed into it, flopping about tiredly. A few others picked up the burlap sacks under the front seat and carried them over to join the crates. 

With a last look at the odd assortment of “helpful” mercenaries, the Seraph turned back to the blonde standing next to him. “Can’t thank all of you enough for this. We really needed those supplies.”

Brushing her bangs out of her eyes, Chessi smiled up at the Seraph and nodded. “Glad we could help! It was a little hard getting the cart through those centaur, but we didn’t lose any of the supplies.”

“Appreciate it, really.” The Seraph grinned as he motioned the others forward to start carrying the supplies into the fort. “I never knew mercenaries could be so selfless.”

Chessi paused a moment before she grinned back at the Seraph, adjusting the belt on her hips holding her guns. “I don’t think they knew it either!”

RP Strong Points: Flexible, go with the flow type. Patient. Good OOC communication when needed. Fleshed out character. Can be very active on Tumblr or Discord. Well-rounded in types of RP. I tend to be a reactive type of RPer, meaning rather than plot things out ahead of time, I tend to do better in the moment, letting things happen organically. Alaris is also a character who could be involved in darker or lighter types of stories.

RP Weak Points: As mentioned above, I very much prefer Tumblr or Discord to in-game which to some could be considered a weak point. This is because of two reasons, the main one being that I don’t have a lot of time I can dedicate to in game play where I’m not afk on and off and that little bit of time I have I like to use to actually play the game itself. Also, I’m involved in a guild that sometimes has in game events I need to be there for. However, I can be regularly active in Tumblr and Discord RP as it’s more flexible for matching people’s schedules and can be done anytime.

Grinding Gears and Familiar Faces

The wind being kicked across Krassus Landing had no natural source.  It’s typical inhabitants and onlookers wore faces ranging from annoyance to curiosity to surprise at the small fleet of howling machines before them.  Gyrocopters.  A bakers dozen at that, hovering over the terrace where flight traffic had been interdicted for fifteen minutes while heavy crates in strong harnesses were tethered to the bottom of the flying machines.  Weapons.  Ammunition.  Supplies for a continued war, paid for out of pocket by one Geargrind Exports. Unknown to most of the crowd, it wasn’t the namesake Goblin, loudly issuing orders that could still only barely be heard over the thunder of blades and engines, whose purse had lightened so considerably, nor was he the one who had arranged for the pickup itself.  Behind even the rest of the crowd, a tall redheaded Sin’dorei stood, clad in the Horde variation of Windrunner pattern mail, a heavy over-and-under repeating rifle slung under one arm. On the one hand, amusement played tiredly across her features at the sight of would-be relic hunters and self-important “heroes” dismay and outrage at the momentary delay at her hands.  On the other, she was nearly too tired to mentally indulge in such a childish notion, knowing exactly why and what prompted this delivery.

And just how many had already died before the munitions and weapons had even left the Landing.

For all it’s pomp, it was a humanitarian gesture in it’s own right, to Alliance and Horde soldiers alike at a particularly hard pressed position.  Many of them were mercenaries.  Some were trusted comrades.  Others she didn’t and never would, meet.  It hardly mattered.

Fel emerald hues scanned the crowd on instinct, not expecting to see anything, or anyone, of interest.  And with one exception, she wasn’t disappointed.  That one exception, however, was enough to arrest her attention.  The face, the garb, and the bearing were all familiar, and a moments surprise took the Huntress unawares at the odd sense of relief that followed.

For a few moments, Halcyona Silversun lingered in her little nook, debating her initial reaction at what should have merely been a familiar face.  Their past interactions had ranged from cordial to…  Not so much.  And a small mental debate ran it’s course in her head before the slightest rattle of chain mail accompanied the first few steps on her way towards Kaevia Sun’rael.

Whether among those with business now delayed, or simply brought out by curiosity at the almost overwhelming roar of the vehicles being loaded by nearly four dozen Goblins hardly mattered as far as the Huntress was concerned.  A dozen or so possible greetings, ranging from surly to overly pleasant, came to mind.

In the end, as she all but appeared to the smaller woman’s right, the former mercenary settled on simplicity, her own thoughts displayed plain and clear, “Glad you made it through that mess.  It’s been awhile.”

Slowly the act of her fingers sliding and sway the silver chain along her neck and up upon her chin was calming. Bit by bit she felt the heavier part of the pendant between her fingers touch at her lower lip, that tree of life she carried with her always in replace of a vial that once carried sand and delightful words.

The landing was a place she stayed upon in access when watching her most trusted and important letters being flown off but day after day she also waited for something to return in reply from the others. Perhaps much of what she wrote had been caught in the frey of gunfire and magic slinging, ravens often loss into the tides of war. One had been sent and gone without reply but in yet another few days she would write another to be sure.

She had to know if they were alright.

The weight of the pendant dropped to her front upon hearing the familiar yet long forgotten voice to her right. Half-startled but mostly from being reeled in from her thoughts, Kaevia glanced up only to first settle eyes upon locks of red. There were very few she had come to know with such fiery hair and sure as hell, it was the very face she had long since seen during past mistakes. Stunned and taken aback she finally spoke, “Haly…”

The Priestess half turned and her hand outstretched to the woman in greeting, a smile playing upon her expression in which she thought she could never harbor again for someone she had crossed paths with so very little yet, always having that tension when they did. If noticed, Haly might have sensed a large change in the now, grown woman, far more than she had been since the last time the two met, “It has been a while indeed. Much of us I fear have made it through the bite of our teeth but it looks like mortality is fighting back. How about you? You look…” There was a gentle pause to regard the weaponry the woman held, “…as if though you haven’t changed a bit.” Relieved, the Priestess exhaled and it showed.

As similar to her once-self as she looked, the manner in which the redhead replied was quite different from the forced, uncertain, hesitant smiles and too forward efforts of yore.  Instead, a soft, easy smile crossed her lips in turn, and the hand was taken into a mail clad grip for a firm shake, “Maybe.  On the outside at least.  Truthfully, this is the exception lately.” she remarks, then brings her other hand up, clasping Kaevia’s between them both earnestly, “Whatever snits we’ve had, I AM glad to see you.” With that, she released, glancing over as the sound of the engines increased to a crescendo of thunder, and multiple tons of munitions lifted from the Landing.  Her lips moved, and a look of hopeful concern crossed her features, though not even the Priestess may have heard the murmured accompaniment, “Fly fast, boys.  Lives are in this.” Looking back to Kaevia, her expression eased once more, tone mild as the gyrocopters departed from the pad, “You’ve got the feel of someone whose had to fill bigger shoes since we’ve last met…” she muses, considering, “Care to catch up?  I’m not due anywhere soon, and I promise I’ll try and speak understandably.”  The last was a self-directed joke at her own accented Thalassian, delivered with a wry smirk and mischievous wink, no hint of insecurity in the tone or timbre of the question, or shame in the humor that followed.

“Such is the way of women, some might say.” The Priestess casually added with such a hint of playfulness. It was in this moment that Kaevia’s attention too had shifted to the grinding of mechanics that anchored the Huntress’s gaze. Silence befell them though some soft mumbles found their way through the melody of metal  overhead, “Catching up would be a wonderful idea and I have time to spare.” and finally her hand slipped away from the greeting.

In two strides the Priestess moved from much of the landing and off to the side to avoid being in the way of those who worked so diligently, “Children, a divorce and a lovely change in title and scenery has changed me but all for the better, I assure you. I am learning the reins of which was once my father’s.” she paused briefly, “ I don’t remember much of our final days before you parted ways. Have you been well, healthy too? What brings you to Dalaran this day and any like the rest?”

A crimson eyebrow rose slightly to the sound of such admissions, and the Huntress took a moment to fit that all in her proper place in the mental “Kaevia” file she kept, much as she did with many others of different names.  “Leadership can be an experience, for sure.” she admitted, before shrugging, “There’s not much to remember when it came to anything beyond personal matters.  And those are only worth remembering for the sake of it, in some ways.” “As for me, I’ve been pretty damn well.” she remarks, smiling all the more, “I don’t really miss what was, since it led to something better.  Still, getting hitched in the wee hours before setting out to do combat with the Legion might not be everyone’s idea of a romantic getaway.”  Her tone carried some humor in it, though she did shake her head, “Me and Ath have been here ever since, doing what we do best.  In my case, that started with a botched effort with a very large bomb at Broken Shore, and a lot of work in Highmountain and Stormheim.  I’ve been expanding my mechanical works to include old Titan stuff lately, though, but I don’t recall that being of much interest, yeah?” Looking to her companion quizzically, Haly’s tone and expression were one of earnest, unabashed query on the last matter.

RP opinion/question

I’ve read a lot of different views on this so I kinda just wanted to ask what you guys think since I’m working on some related things.

In “spy” RP (aka: when someone is watching you ICly in secret) would you rather have them approach you OOC and be like “Just a heads up, I’m here ICly!” or whatever, or do you feel it should go on as it would without any ooc knowledge? (Because they’re invisible and you can’t see them, like with stealth)

I know some people have said it depends on where they are, what they’re talking about, the situation, etc. They also take into account that when people know OOC sometimes they don’t say things IC they normally would because they know and it then defeats the purpose for the spy.

But other people say it isn’t fair because it’s without consent.

( This doesn’t take into account that people can apparently hear through walls. I mean when you’re in the open and someone would realistically be able to hear. )

My personal take:

This is a really sensitive area cuz of OOC knowledge. Think of it like the observation effect in Quantum mechanics. The ACT of being watched changes your conduct. So knowing that someone is spying on you will change your behavior, whether or not you intend to.

Personally, I recommend not telling them, though keeping logs is FECKING ESSENTIAL. Screenshotting location is smart too, but it’s easy to get lazy and not do that, so I don’t emphasize it.

Even the best will be affected. The other, overwhelming majority, will try to use it to metagame, in my experience. I never, personally, clue someone in when I'm ICly spying, along with keeping logs and screenshots. Just my two cents.

If you're RPing in a way that can be overheard, you've consented to that possibility by default. If you don't want to be, use whispers, or party. Else, what happens, happens. Playing down to a lower standard isn't an obligation for others, to cover for neglecting to use basic features on someone's behalf, in my opinion.
