“That’s… what happened here. Some guy called Gerard led a huge bunch of hunters into town. Killed and scattered as many as he could. Me and my brother some of the first.” She muttered. Talia’s words made her chest ache, her scent souring even more. “…. It’s terrifying.” She admitted.

“Gerard continues being a psychopath then.” She said. She wasn’t surprised, she knew what he was like. “He brought hunters? Were any his family?” She knew his son had a wife and a young daughter, and there was Gerard’s daughter, but she didn’t know what they were like. “If there’s anything I can do to change that, you can tell me.” She would take her in, but only if she wanted it.

“Too tough?” The question was almost amusing, now looking down a small chuckle leaving his lips. “I mean I was born and raised here but I am guessing you’re referring to the supernatural stuff if so I think it has been tough on everyone.” There wasn’t one person in town who had it easy, everyone had gone through their own traumas including the older woman who stood before him who had to go through the tragedy that was the Hale fire. 

“Yes, I mean the supernatural stuff.” She frowned, sad to hear that things had been tough. “I’m sorry. I tried to keep the balance while I was here, but, sadly, that clearly didn’t last.” She didn’t know who set the fire, only knew from Peter that he’d dealt with them. She thought knowing might hurt more. “Just tell me what you need from me.”

        “People that killed our family. Locked us in the basement and burnt us alive. They tried to but I had a nurse that was more willing to help me than my own family.” He didn’t know why he bothered to explain or to relay what happened to his sister when it would be for nothing. “She is to me and it should have been my decision what happened to Malia and her mother.” He shook his head. “Made quick work with her. That is just what I thought. Did I know she was pregnant, that I was going to be a father or did you make quick of that as well?”

Talia crossed her arms, rolled her eyes. Whatever problem Peter had with her children, she would never share it. But talking about the girl, she sighed. She didn’t regret her decision, but if he knew any way, she decided that telling the truth couldn’t hurt. “You didn’t know until she was nearly due. But you knew before she was born.”

“Your emissary?” Scott knew Deaton’s past but he hadn’t been aware that his owner had been helping others apart from his own pack. Another alpha he had taken a step back not out fear but out of mistrust seeing as he didn’t have the best of luck with them. That changed when she spoke of the Hales, gaining his full attention. “Your family? You’re Talia Hale aren’t you?” 

“Yes, I’m Talia Hale.” She confirmed, smiling at the other man. He seemed young to have so much responsibility. She saw his step back and stayed where she was, not wanting to alarm him. “I hope Beacon Hills hasn’t proved too tough?”

Derek entered the apartment, allowing his senses to inspect his surroundings, a sigh leaving his nostrils as he walked up towards the large wall window. Cora had sent him a text, telling him there was something important he needed to know, asking him to go directly to the loft building after work. He assumed she wanted to meet him there, to talk something out or share some type of information, but when he arrived his sister was no where to be found. Worry began to settle in his body, wondering if Cora was simply late or something had happened, taking out his phone with the intention of giving her a call.

He stopped before unlocking the screen, the scent that entered through the front door sending a cold shiver down his spine. It was familiar, even if he hadn’t been around it for years, causing a mixture of emotions to course through him. Derek turned slowly, the relief evident in his expression when green eyes settled on the figure he was hoping to see. He didn’t question it, obvious by then something was resurrecting the dead, the wolf able to believe the woman standing in his doorway was truly there.

Tears built in his eyes, exhaling a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. “Mama…”

Once Talia had been told where to find Derek, she had wanted to go there immediately. Walking into the large building, she stepped in, taking a deep breathe. Like her daughter’s home, her son’s scent filled the space, comforting her.

As the man in front of her turned around, her heart wanted to burst, just as it had done seeing Cora. She took steps forward, smiling at the name he called her. 

“Mama’s here, sweetheart.” She said softly, closing the gap and wrapping her arms around him, holding him to her. Not wanting to ever let go again. “I’m so sorry that I ever left you. But I’m here now. My beautiful, beautiful boy.”

just jumping onto say i’m visiting family this weekend so i won’t be around much if at all, and works looking to be busy next week, so i’ll try and get as many replies out as i can.

Closed starter for Talia 

 It hadn’t been hard to find Alpha Hale, after dropping her off where she’d needed to go he came back a few days later after finding his sister and deciding that he needed to do what was best for her. Being an omega was dangerous, you could easily get caught by hunters, other wolves. The odd’s were never in your favor, the stakes always high, and you were always running. 

They’d been omegas once before, very briefly before Satomi had found them after the fire. She’d taken them in when they were still very young, she’d taught them control. 

He wanted to ensure his sister’s survival so finding Talia he watched her for a moment before approaching. 

“Alpha Hale, I wanted to ask you something if that’s alright.” He murmured.

Talia was sitting on a bench, searching a paper for apartments when her name was called. She needed somewhere to stay, since she could clearly not go back to her family home. “Brett. It’s nice to see you again, you’re well I hope?” She smiled. She was Satomi’s boy, she would always find time for him, having a soft spot for the Alpha, and therefore her foster son.  “Sit down, what was it you wanted?”

Brett nodded, he remembered her children. He had seen one of them around town. “Derek, he works at the diner in town.” He murmured.

Talia smiled that he was still in town. “Then I suppose I should pay him a visit. I can’t wait to see him, thank you for telling me.”

“You did - get me to safety, I mean.  I waited as long as I could for someone else to get out but all I heard was people screaming and then…and then nothing,” Cora worried at her lip, shaking her head at Talia’s question.  “I didn’t know they weren’t there - never knew they were alive, not for years.  All I remembered was you telling me to run, so I ran.  Found a pack who took me in and I never came back here until I heard rumors about a Hale pack.  By then Laura was,” she rubbed at her eyes, already frustrated with the tears that wouldn’t stop flowing.  “Was already dead.  Only Derek was here and we were like strangers at first.  He didn’t know I was alive either.”

Talia brushed the shell of her daughter’s ears, wishing she hadn’t had to go through that, but she hadn’t been able to stop it. She wished her children had all been together, but Cora and Derek were okay. That had to be a small thing to be pleased about. “A pack? I’m so happy for you. Are they in town? I’d love to meet them.” Wanted to thank them for caring for her daughter. Her face fell, knowing Laura was dead. “--I always wanted the three of you to be close.” She sighed. “I’m sorry I couldn’t do more to protect you all.”

Lori shrugged a shoulder. “In this place right now? Yeah… But otherwise I have my brother. That’s all.” She muttered, looking down. “Our birth family were killed by hunters too… guess it’s fitting we were as well.”

“I’ve known of very few hunters in my time that can be reasoned with - they find something they don’t understand, and it scares them.” She mused, aloud. “I can’t imagine it’s ideal, being an omega after coming from such a large family. I never would have.”

“In charge?” Scott exhaled, with a slow shake of his head. “I am not in charge of the clinic I am still an assistant.” He had assumed she had meant of the animal clinic, but something told him she wasn’t here for his services. She knew who he was and from the scent, he knew she was the same as him, a werewolf. “Nice to meet you, Talia, can I help you with something?” The name sounded familiar but her face wasn’t one he had recognized expect her eyes. There was something eerily familiar about her eyes. 

“I know - my emissary is in charge here, I just haven’t been able to see him yet.” She smiled fondly. “But, I hear you are the Alpha in charge of protecting the town now? I was hoping I’m able to help you instead. I know how difficult it can be.” She flashed her Alpha eyes. “I believe you know my family, the Hales?”

Regardless of her insistence in finding a new normal, she couldn’t bring herself to vacate the distillery, not when she’d shared so many precious memories with her mother there. Even in total seclusion, she felt secure. Serving by Talia as her beta had been one of her life’s greatest honors. She’d sacrificed her life to make sure her children weren’t left powerless and without a leader; that selfless act alone had inspired Laura to do all she could to make sure the Hale pack would thrive in adversity. Her mother’s scent had begun to hit her, causing her to question if nostalgia had been the culprit or if Talia had really been there the whole time. Laura couldn’t handle the idea of being wrong—not about this—yet hearing her mother’s voice for the first time in what had seemed like forever signified some form of a beacon of light. Emerging from her hiding spot, she stood in front of the older woman. “Mama?”

Hearing the voice of her eldest, Talia froze where she’d been standing. She turned around slowly, finding that it was her, and tears filled her eyes. She knew what happened to her. What Peter had done to her, being told that by the man himself. She said no words as she moved over to her, cupping her daughter’s face, stroking her cheeks. “I’m here, sweetheart. So are you.” She said softly. Instinct made her flash her eyes, not in a threat, but to reassure her. “After I heard what happened, I hoped you’d return too. I couldn’t have lived with myself if you didn’t.”

     “So Laura gets a free pass because it was to protect the pack and I don’t even though it was for the same reason? Come on, Talia. The people who started the fire could have easily tracked me down and killed me. I was left in a hospital. No security. If I did the same thing you would be calling me out on it.” He stared at her, trying his best to conceal his feeling. “You’d have left me. That is good to know.” There wasn’t even an attempt to stop his eyes from rolling. “I know her now but I know nothing about her mother or what it was to find out I was going to be a father. Did I even get to see her when she was born?”

“You killed people, Peter. She didn’t. It was not for the same reason. And I’m assuming they didn’t track you down and kill you, considering you’re standing here.” Talia had forgotten how exhausting it could be dealing with her brother, ignoring the roll to his eyes. “Her mother isn’t worth remembering, considering she wanted her dead, despite my best efforts to encourage her to want her.” Talia still could not understand how a mother could want to murder her child. “Laura assisted with the birth, I made quick work of getting her to the Tate’s.”

Once she had heard the name Scott McCall and information that he was an Alpha in town who was close to Deaton, she had to seek him out, trusting that Alan would have lead him well. Her search led her back to the animal clinic, and she walked in. Surprised at how young he was. “Alpha McCall. I was told you’re in charge around here now.” She smiled, soft. “My name is Talia.”

i promised a bunch of starters tonight but i’m out with a friend for dinner then i’ll probably crash. i’ll try and get them up tomorrow!

“… Satomi’s dead.” Lori muttered, swallowing hard. She could smell wolf on the woman at least, so she didn’t allow her brain to fool her into thinking this was a rogue hunter, coming to finish off the job from two years ago. “Hunters attacked. Most of the pack scattered, some died, and someone told me Satomi died with them.” Not that she needed to hear it - as soon as she was back, it was as though she knew she was an Omega now. “So no. I’m no ones beta. Sorry to disappoint you.”

Talia closed her eyes, a moment of mourning, breathing through her nose. To know she lived so long and was brought down by a hunter of all things pained a little. That the Ito pack was scattered and gone. There had been no blood relatives for the eyes to pass to. “I am sorry for your loss.” She murmured. “And you are here alone?”

“I wanted an abortion, to not have to grow that thing inside me and siphon off my powers and make me vulnerable. You convinced me to keep it and for the life of me I can’t understand why I let you convince me.” She glared. “I bet you are pleased.”

“I never wished you harm, Corrine. I just wanted you to see that she was more important than your power.” Talia knew she would give hers up in a moment for her children. “I’m pleased Malia is safe, that is all I’m pleased about.”
