Do we really understand what sleeping is rather than it is considered as a rest? Well, to make it more clear, Sleep is not just resting because, during your sleep, your body heals itself and restores its chemical balance. Though some of us state some reason, that when we lay down in our bed, we are already resting; Obviously the answer to that is yet, BUT it does not rest our brain, which can cause chemical imbalance. In short, getting more sleep is almost the same as I want to eat more. For this particular reason, According to National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Sleep plays an important role in our physical health which helps us to be more active in the day, and tired at night, normal life for a normal person. Have you ever had an event that has changed your character, personality, life style, of who and what you are?
Well, mine was four years ago, when God sent me someone who will bring me to a path that He designed for me to transformed. (I know God has a perfect time and season for us in everything, but mine was happened a few years ago.)
I am the woman with high self-esteem but at the same time, when my insecurities hits me, I no longer have confidence in myself, I like to judge and insult other people. I like to say bad words all the time --- before that was my expression .. Whenever I'm sad, happy, or anything I would've feel, I say bad words.
I used to see myself living all the mess, it all started when my father left us for another woman as if nothing had happened, I'm always looking for love and eventually I felt it when I met a guy I thought he loves me wholeheartedly but I was wrong, he left me like my father did. That moment, I don't know what to feel, and as time goes by I got to know new friends who I thought would be with me during the hardest times, but I was wrong again. I wondered if my life is really a curse. By that time I was afraid to love and trust again. I'm too broke to fix, no one noticed, I suffered deppresion for a long time, I used to go home drunk, I neglected my studies that's why all of my grades failed. I committed suicide because in my mind, "what's the purpose, why I'm still alive?" I used to put bar lines on my wrist hoping that it will end the pain I feel. But with the grace of the Lord, He never let that happen. He sent me someone who will make me see how beautiful life is, how pretty and valuable I am. He let me see that there is hope in every hopeless situations.
One day morning, it's first day of school and one of my classmates approached and asked me if we can be friends. I don't know if by that time I am ready to trust again but I took risk. As time passes by, I haven't noticed that I am trusting again -- and I thought it was God's will.
Until she invites me to a place I think I was meant to be, with dancing lights, and people with bright smiles. At first, I thought I was at the party but then a pastor ministered and I felt he knows me until I walk going to the front and realized I'm going to do an altar call. It made me burst into tears and kneeled on the ground and worship HIM because that was the time I felt the real love. Days passed by, I am excited to go to that place, and as I go deeper in my relationship with Him, I learned how to talk to HIM. Every day, I want God to hear all my stories, rants, cries, or even anything, it makes me feel alive.
I didn't notice my life is changing and it's in the process that transforming into a holy perfect. That change started within me and it flowed into all aspects of my life. Before, I call my parents "chains from my happiness" but then I realized they only want to make me righteous. I'm maintaining my good and high grades not just for my parents' sake but because it's my God's aim. I started to share the word of God instead of saying bad words, lift up others' confidence, express the love that comes from the Lord. This time, I value myself more.
There are a lot of motivation books written by great leaders and writers, yet Alan Joy McGINNIS discovered that "Jesus had rarely been studied from this perspective - a curious fact indeed when we realize that He was clearly the most successful motivator of all time". Moreover, I am thrilled to tell you the good news that Alan Joy brought me, "we're motivators. Either we are doing it poorly or we are doing it well" Each of us has it within, but Motivators are not born - they are made.
Some people think that knowledge is the key to a successful life, a successful career, and for business. But little do they know that 80% of their skills, must be connected and related with other people. Skills, on the other hand, need only 20% from you. That is how executives are being promoted, how supervisors are being promoted. Not all successful entrepreneurs graduated with a degree in a university, Not all known athletes graduated in a university nor even graduated; Some of them are just high-school students or college students. In short, It is NOT the knowledge you need, It is the character. Character can bring you anywhere, and everywhere. As long as you know how to treat people right, how to stir up the enthusiasm in each people you lead and handle, even if all of you are not that knowledgeable, You can still make it work and reach the top. As Alan Joy stated - "A proven motivator will make it to the top before a proven genius."
Character Over Skills. Have you ever thought how great leaders inspire people to be at their best ? We've all met them; some are teachers or business owners, while others are baseball managers or mothers. They seem to have a capacity of motivating people despite their lack of excellent looks or exceptional intelligence. And it is because of this remarkable ability to motivate others that makes them so successful in practically everything they do. However, certain people seem to bring out the worst in us. Their motivational speeches turn into lectures, and instead of inspiring us, they intimidate us. Motivation is NOT a manipulation, motivate other, not because you need something from them; Motivate them because you want to bring out the BEST in them.
