“Yeah…yeah” he said waving it off, mainly because he knew it was true. His ego was massive. “My night? It is just getting started” Asher said clinking his glass against hers. He couldn’t help but let his eyes wander around her, “God you are stunning. You know that Halley” he said genuinely, and not just as a flirt this time.

Stunning, it was a descriptor she was far too familiar with from the unknown faces on the internet who pretended to know her but didn’t know anything real about her. Yet, coming from Asher it felt more real, an opinion she could believe and it never failed to make her feel flustered. “Careful there you might inflate my ego now.” She teased, taking another sip from her beer feeling herself grow more comfortable. “No wonder you got girls fawning over you. You really do have a way with words.”

Placing his hand behind her lightly he led her to the table to get a drink, “I’m good company eh?” he asked as a smirk left his face. “I mean, I always think I am, obviously, but I didn’t think you would” he said almost in a joke, but could definitely think it was true. Ordering them both a drink he handed it over to her once he was done, “So gorgeous, how is your night?” he asked taking a sip.

"Yeah but don’t let it get to your head we don’t need you getting a bigger ego.” Halley teased, leaning forward with the elbows on the table. She always enjoyed Asher’s company and their easy friendship. She took the drink from him with a hand and took a small sip immediately, “Better now. What about yours?” She questioned curiously.

with a small laugh halley brought a finger up to her chin in thought at the other persons question. “well, it depends, did he deserve it?” she questioned.

Asher looked over at the other finally, the left side of his lip turned up, “You know you can always come say hi to me”. Making no time to think he walked up to her, sliding his arm around her back, “Would you like to go get a drink with me?” he asked her. For some reason she made his phone call disappear from memory.

“I almost questioned that at your reply.” She teased, pointing out his earlier tone, but she didn’t mind assuming she just caught him off guard. “You know I won’t say no to that.” She laughed leaning into him, falling into a comfortable routine that they usually had. “Can’t get much better than drinks and good company.”

the words the other had said wasn’t quite registering as halley had found herself spacing out into the distance, her mind drifting into various paths, before dragging herself back into the present. she turned her head towards the other catching the last bit. “i’ll be honest... i didn’t catch any of that... i kind of was off in my own world.” she admitted, hoping it wasn’t important.

Ring, Ring. There it was again, his father, calling him for another job he did not want to do. He kept ignoring it, but he knew eventually he must answer. As he stood there contemplating calling him back now or later he felt someone approaching him, “Can I help you?” he said in a tone that was a little more mean than he meant, but knew he did not care.

Halley had been out and about when she had spotted Asher in the distance and didn’t hesitate to catch up to him, as he was someone she would call a friend. At his question she rolled her eyes playfully, “What can’t a girl say hi to her friend without wanting something?” She teased easily, pushing past his slightly grumpy tone.

“how bad do you want it?” jackie whispered in the ear of the person next to her. it wasn’t uncommon for her to try to get a rise out of those around her. she cared more about being carefree rather than anticipating a reaction from someone. a beach bonfire seemed like just the place to mess around with people and knew and those she didn’t so she took the opportunity. “a drink from the keg.” jackie chuckled as stepped to the side to reveal the keg beside her and put a hand on the person beside her. “what did you think i meant?”

at the sudden whisper in ear halley quirked an eyebrow, more amused than confused by the sudden question. though it wasn’t long before there was a bit more clarification to the previous question, but, it didn’t stop her from thinking the slight innuendo was intended. “I’m sure you can take a guess on what went through my mind.” she smirked, “but I won’t say no to a drink.”

The bakery was right near the marina where Troy worked as a dockhand, caretaking ships for the Figure 8 elite or the tourists who just stopped by for the summer season. He often stopped by on his break to get a reprieve from the sun - and often to flirt with the barista who would give him free iced coffee and yesterday’s baked goods. While he was waiting for his cup, he wandered over to the girl drawing at a table and peeked over her shoulder to see what she was working on.

“Nope, I’m beyond help or so I’ve been told,” He said easily, not even bothering to look up. “Or so I’ve been told.” He gestured to her sketchbook. “What is it?”

“Oh?” She questioned tilting her head to the side, somewhat amused, but didn’t bother to take her attention away from the sketchbook. She continued where she left off, letting her pencil make long defined lines across the page. As he continued she looked up to see him gesturing towards the book in her hand. “Just some rough sketches, right now I’m working on one I started of the main street. Nothing exciting.” She shrugged, it was something she had started earlier and decided to finish it, not wanting to leave it incomplete. She set it down on the table and pushed it over. “You can look if you want, since you’re curious.”

“Sorry again.” Even if he hadn’t hit her, he still felt bad that he almost had. He tried so hard to stay out of the way that he felt bad he almost knocked someone over. He readjusted his grip on everything, trying to make it comfortable while keeping it close. He wasn’t going to risk a repeat of what just happened. He smiled slightly. “Yeah. It’s been a long day. I can’t seem to stop picturing my comfortable bed waiting at home.” Going home was easily his favorite part of every day – when he could have some time to himself, though he hardly knew what to do with it. 

“I can’t say I don’t understand.” She stated in agreement, knowing far too well the comfort of being in your own bed, especially after a long day in the sun. Halley was one who was always out and about, in large crowds, but going home to her own bed and quiet space was always her favorite part of any day. “Do you want help with all of that?” She asked, figuring she could at least help him, and maybe save any other people who passed by the risk of having a fishing pole wack them.

it had been a long day already. finn was exhausted but he couldn’t settle himself to sleep. he had been up since the crack of dawn as well without something to keep him awake. he wasn’t exactly ready to fall asleep, not with all the work he had to do at home. with his own cup finally in hand, he started to feel more awake. the bakery wasn’t too busy but he pulled out the chair nearest him, anyways. “just trying not to get coffee all over myself.” the edge of the cup rested on his lips as he took another drink. 

at his reply she shrugged and looked back down at her sketch book continuing where she left off, she wasn’t going to kick him out; that would be rude. “sounds reasonable.” she stated, as her pencil flew across the page. “just don’t spill it on my stuff and that seat is all yours.” she added after a moment, not wanting to risk all the pages that had been used up.

halley was seeking shelter from the heat in the local bakery with a ice coffee half finished on the table in front of her as she sketched in her notebook. when she wasn’t posting on instagram or any of her various social accounts she was working on her art, her side hobby. it was then she saw someone sit in the free chair across from the corner of her eye. “can i help you?” she asked quirking an eyebrow in amusement.

Looking up over her glasses, she nodded her head.  She leaned up, scooting over to give the other space for her to sit with her upon her towel. Tucking her feet underneath herself, she offered the other a smile “how are you doing?” fingers running through her hair, “pretty hot out huh” looking up. she loved the warmth of the sun, and she loved being hidden up on the sand away from crowds. “I have some water, if you would like one?” pulling out two water bottles from her bag, handing her an ice cold water bottle. The two spent some time together, Halley was Zander’s best friend after all, they weren’t ever not around each other. 

After Sawyer made space for her on the towel she didn’t hesitate to scoot over next to her. “Good, you know other then how hot it is. How about you?” She questioned as she leaned back on her hands. It was hot out but Halley liked to spend all the time she could out in the sun. “Thanks.” She added as she took the water from her friend, instantly opening it and taking a small sip from it, enjoying the coldness it provided. “Surprised you’re out here alone.” She commented as she stared out at the water, it wasn’t uncommon for the two of them to hang out together.

He felt like he had been up for 48 hours. He had slept the past two days, but the exhaustion was written in his bones. He a double shift yesterday and the day before. He wanted to go home and throw his feet up and fall asleep with the tv playing in the background. He’d been fishing all afternoon. It was a slow day, so he was more than happy when he could pack up to go home. Gideon was headed home when he felt his phone buzz. He tried to get it out of his pocket, but his hands were full. In the process, he dropped his tackle box. “Shit,” he muttered under his breath. He leaned down to pick it up, and as he did so, almost hit someone with the fishing pole. At least, he hoped it was a close call and he hadn’t actually hit anyone. He straightened up. “I am so sorry,” he said quickly. “I didn’t hit you, did I?”

Halley had been walking along the docks, like when did when they had nothing better to be doing, and enjoying the views that came along. It wasn’t as busy as it usually was which she was grateful for, as she wasn’t feeling like being in large crowds today. She had been caught up in her thoughts when she narrowly missed a fishing pole that almost connected with her face, she jumped backwards ever so slightly feeling her heart race. “It’s okay,” She assured bringing a hand up to her chest, “It didn’t hit me but that was quite the startle.” She laughed, feeling herself come down. “Distracted huh?” She questioned curiously as she adjusted her purse strap on her shoulder.

aurelia was, in a few words, a workaholic. however, she detested being cooped up inside the office the entire day. she had a tan to work on and a general need to be outside that couldn’t be sated behind a desk. her hands were flying fast over her keyboard, only ever stopping to take a sip of her coffee. a shadow cast over her, a silhouette. “can i help you?” she hardly kept the vague bitterness out of her tone, not looking up.

the weather had been nice; sunny and there was even a nice breeze to negate the heat hence why halley was out taking full advantage of the rare break from the unbearable heat. she had been walking along stopping to check her phone that had buzzed in her pocket when she heard a voice coming from the side. halley looked over seeing aurelia typing furiously, “well i was walking... though, now im curious why you look like i just stole the last cookie, whatever has you typing furiously clearly has you wound up.”
