School wasn’t going to properly start for a few weeks, but that didn’t stop several people from arriving to settle in early. Although Kyouko hadn’t originally wanted to come early to a school, away from her grandmother’s smile and her grandfather’s coffee cups found in the most ridiculous places, Kyouko wanted to meet her father at some point. But not now.
Looking like a queen with her head held high, Kyouko tried to recall the map from memory as she made her way around. It was only as she let her mind wander for what could’ve only been a second - alright, a few minutes - that she knocked into something. Something hard. Possibly a human being.
Ishimaru had simply been observing the school--in awe, almost, of the vast halls and the idea that this--the school of the best and the brightest--was to be his place of study. His halls of learning, his rooms of intelligence, his--
Ouch.
"Pardon me! I did not see you there!" Ishimaru glanced at the young woman who had bumped into him. "I am Kiyotaka Ishimaru! Pleased to meet you! If I may have the pleasure of knowing your name so I may formally apologize?"
Ishimaru rapped on the door, adjusting the books in his arms as he did so. He was at ease, of course—a simple study session, nothing more, so he didn’t have to worry about conversation topics (not that he really had to with the detective, with whom conversation flowed quite freely).
Kirigiri opened the door with a small smile, wordlessly gesturing him into the room. Conscientious as she was, she had set up chairs and cups, which were full of tea.
"No one else will be joining us today, I suppose?" Ishimaru queried.
"What can you deduce from two chairs?" Kirigiri joked, and Ishimaru laughed.
"Perhaps one would sit on the floor!" He joked back, and she smiled again (this occurrence, Ishimaru noted, had become more often as of late, and he took it to mean that she was becoming good friends with him.)
He pulled up a chair and set his books down. “So, what do you require help with?”
Kyouko pulled a loose strand of hair from her face to behind her ear, a contemplative smile on her lips. “Well,” she said, gesturing to the closed books. “Would you believe me if I said this was just a way to get a social call out of you?”
Except no, not really. Because Kyouko had been alone with her thoughts for the last forty eight hours and she’d come to realise two very plausible facts; a} there was a distinct possibility she liked Ishimaru and b} there was a distinct possibility Ishimaru liked her romantically. There was really only one way to go about it, really.
Like a case to be solved. Obviously. Obviously.
"However, if you’d like, we can review the chapter in general, Kiyotaka-kun," she amended.
Panic rose in Ishimaru's throat, but he quickly swallowed it down. "A-ah! I don't take you to be a liar, Kirigiri-kun, but I know you're a joker! Perhaps, t-take the humor down a 'notch'!" He chuckled nervously, until he saw the unbridled honesty in her face. "Aha! I am not prepared at all, if you could forgive me!" He gulped nervously. "G-give me a second, Kirigiri-kun! I must prepare my soul!"
Anxiety welled up in his stomach. He took a moment to compose himself.
What made this so awkward? Well, a) he liked Kirigiri well enough to consider the possibility of like-liking her and b) all he had was study materials.
As much as he hated to admit it, he had to prepare for any social encounter at all, so chance meetings were always dreaded.
Though it was Kirigiri, so perhaps it wouldn't be too bad.
My apologies! I am still learning how to use this device! I would be perfectly willing! Though I try to sleep as early as possible so as to get rest, studying takes priority before all that! I will be over right away! :)

"Ah, the yearbook! I never get pictures in there!" He announced cheerfully. “Unless they are required, I tend to be neglected in them, as many yearbook members do not like me!" He sat down next to her. “If you do not mind, I will sit next to you still, as I have just met you and can not test your verity! Allow me to introduce myself. I am a Super High School Level Hall Monitor, Kiyotaka Ishimaru!" He pulled out his notebook and jotted down ‘Super High School Level Photographer’. “Your name, if you don’t mind?"
He never got any pictures in? Well, he was supposed to be a first year(if she was correct in her assumption), but she wanted to change that fact. With a nod, she motioned next to him and gave him a smile. It was a bit odd at first, seeing as her personality almost did a complete one-eighty in the time he took to say he never got pictures taken of him.
"My name’s Mahiru Koizumi. Nice to meet you, Ishimaru, I guess." Looking down at the camera she held, Mahiru hesitated before asking. “Would you want some pictures in the yearbook this year? There’s always a time for firsts, you know." Maybe he had some friends she could get into a group shot with him. Hopefully..
"W-what an honor! Thank you greatly for this offer, Koizumi-kun!" He jotted her name down and grinned. "Yes, there certainly always is a first for everything! Being afraid or hesitant to try new things is understandable, but should never be a hindrance to you! For instance, I have always had trouble speaking to others and making friends! But I am trying it anyways! You are among the first people who have also deemed me fit for conversing!" He smiled. "Have you tried anything new this year?"
At least until Kirigiri got to the scene, she’d probably figure out it was him before even looking at the evidence. Probably best to mess up the “crime scene" beforehand.
"Ahh, there’s the short blonde girl, the annoyin one who likes sweets." He coughed, rubbing the back of his head as he tries to come across as nonchalant as he could, “She probably did it."
He rolls up his sleeves, “We should clean this up, right? With people about to come and use the place?" Mondo could care less about cleaning, all he wanted to do was make sure he kept out of the damn detention room for a day.
"Short blonde girl??? Ah, you probably mean Hiyoko-kun! She does like sweets! But she is not allowed in this room without explicit permission, since the last time she was here, she almost started a fire! I had to put it out!" Ishimaru looked a little prideful that he had handled that situation so well. “Wait Oowada-kun! We may ruin the evidence if we begin to clean now! We should dust for fingerprints or something along those lines, am I correct?"
"Well, uh, who knows if those would be accurate or not?" Mondo coughs into his hand, “As, nearly anybody’s allowed in here."
"And someone might have tampered with the scene anyway- Better to catch em in the act than accuse right?"
His volume was going up as it normally did when he was nervous as hell. Mondo rubbed the back of his neck, laughing nervously as he attempted to remain normal-ish looking.
"Oowada-kun, are you alright? Your volume is near approaching inappropriate levels for a public area! Or perhaps, this is correct behavior for a crime scene! I do observe that policemen yell at a crime scene!" He coughed slightly, smiled brightly, and yelled, "HOWEVER OOWADA-KUN, IF SOMEONE HAD TAMPERED WITH THE SCENE, IT WOULD BE BEST TO CATCH THEM AS WELL, CORRECT? LUCKILY, I HAVE A FORENSICS KIT HERE WITH ME! I GOT IT FROM THE SILLY PRIZE MACHINE WE HAVE INSTALLED ON THE FIRST FLOOR! ISN'T IT EXCITING?" He announced, pulling it out for Mondo to look at.
Sayaka sat down at an empty table, flicking through a small photo album. At this time in the morning, the cafeteria was empty, so she had nothing to worry about. Seeing photos of her friends bought back memories from a few weeks ago. It was hard to believe that she’d been here for three weeks now. Sayaka almost knew her way around!
It was a moment later that the door behind her opened. The idol quickly spun round, offering a warm smile. “Oh! Good morning!"
"Good morning, Maizono-kun!" Ishimaru greeted cheerfully. "It is nice to see you here bright and early!" He sat across from her, pulling a textbook from his bag. "I always come here to study! It is quite the good studying area when it is quiet and empty! And what are you doing here, if you do not mind my asking?"
Hi guys! I'm going to Alaska for a week, so I won't be modding or RPing here unless I hop on a computer, which I probably won't because I'm gonna be on an adventure or what not! So, see you later guys!
Chihiro giggles, smiling at the father/daughter pair. “Of course!!" She claps her hands together, giving a sweet smile, “I won’t be much conversation! But I’ll try to help!!"
She smiles, turning and breezing off to her room, unlocking it to allow them inside, “It’s rather lonely in here with Mukuro sick, I’ll have to go and make her some more soup in a bit." She slumps, saddened by the idea of her sick friend. Then straightens up, slipping off her cardigan and rolling her sleeves up, pulling a vaguely recognizable shape of a burnt computer out.
"I received it yesterday!" She chirped, “I don’t know what’s on it, but the owner just told me to try to salvage what I could!"
"Oh yes. Poor Mukuro-chan! I hope she feels better as soon as possible! May her will be strong enough to fight off any disease!" He smiled. “How is it possible to salvage anything from this? It seems to be burnt to a crisp! Isn’t that right, Mei-chan?" He looked down at Mei, who seemed to be looking around the room intently. “What is wrong, Mei-chan? Do you feel unwell?"
"What are these cameras here for?" asked Mei, bouncing up and down impatiently. “That’s kinda funny."
Chihiro nods, “She’s really strong! I know she can beat the sickness off!!" She clasps her hands together, “I’ve been collecting her work, so that way she won’t be off on classes and things like that! I know she would be worried about things like that!"
She pokes the computer, “Well, some parts were protected, the fire started from the monitor…which is odd as usually if a fire starts with a computer, it’s usually around the motor or the plugin cord. But the outside is the stuff that’s mostly burnt and melted."
"But the inside." She pries off the back of the processor and pulls out a chip that’s mostly intact, “The inside stuff is okay!"
She glances down at Mei for a moment, “Cameras? Which cameras?"
"Oh, I certainly would be concerned if I missed even an hour of school! What a good friend you are, Fujisaki-kun!" Ishimaru watched quietly as Chihiro showed him the processor chip. "How intriguing!"
"The cameras! The security cameras!" Mei pointed at the small camera in the corner of the room.
"Those are for keeping the school safe! Many people try to sneak in and steal belongings from the students, or something akin to that!" Ishimaru pulled Mei into his lap. "Now now, Mei-chan! Let's listen to what Fujisaki-kun has to say about these computer parts!"
"Oowada-kun! Good to see you!" Ishimaru had been running so fast he practically skidded to a stop, grabbing and shaking Mondo’s hand hospitably. “A report of mechanic malfunction has occurred! Would you mind coming with me inside to check what has happened?" Without waiting for a reply, he dragand ged him inside the kitchen again.
"What is this?" Ishimaru dashed in, without so much as skipping a bit, he surveyed the scene. “What has happened here, Oowada-kun?" He asked, astonished, not accusing. “This is…so irresponsible!"
Mondo grinned, having been about to greet the much too high-strung Hall Monitor when he was forcibly dragged back into the kitchen. His eyes widened, mentally cursing the fact that he didn’t escape sooner.
"Um…I don’t know, it appears that someone microwaved a marshmallow." He coughs, “inspecting" the scene of the crime, “don’t know who did it, came in here for some snacks and found it."
"Let’s guess! We can eliminate you and I, since we have just come upon the scene! I have just come from speaking to Asahina-kun, so she is not a suspect as well!" Ishimaru thought again. “Souda-kun is quite fond of sweets, and so is Hagakure-kun…Pekoyama-kun and Kuzuryuu-kun are both at the dorms…Kirigiri-kun doesn’t like anything but chocolate ice cream…Come to think of it, Kirigiri-kun could help us! Unfortunately, she is asleep, and I would not want to wake her! We shall just have to become Super High School Level Detectives ourselves, won’t we, Oowada-kun?"
At least until Kirigiri got to the scene, she’d probably figure out it was him before even looking at the evidence. Probably best to mess up the “crime scene" beforehand.

(( Uhm, hello! I'm a fellow Ishimaru roleplayer, and I'm actually here for some advice on him! I know that you're not an advice blog, but you're a really great Ishimaru and I was wondering if you could give me some points in the right direction for roleplaying him, you know? Of course, uhm, you don't have too if you don't want too! ))
((!!!! f-firstly who are you? i want to be your friend! we can rp together as ishimarus hoo hoo
secondly, thANK YOU SO MUCH OH MY GOD I’M GONNA EXPLODE THANK YOU FOR THE COMPLIMENT
thirdly, actual advice for ishimaru under the cut))
Sort of long, sorry! This is a rundown of most of Ishimaru’s traits.
Ishimaru values hard work above almost everything—even if one was a delinquent, if they work hard for their goal, he will commend them and turn them in the right direction if possible.
Ishimaru loves friendships. Because he was unable to make friends before, now that he is surrounded by others who work hard to be the best, he feels more connected to them. He treasures every friendship, even the smallest ones.
Ishimaru cries because he is hot-blooded, not because he is a weenie! In the manga he cries at Mondo’s story because he is touched—Ishimaru is extremely sympathetic and tries his hardest to understand others.
That being said, Ishimaru is not very good at understanding if he has insulted someone. Sometimes (like in the case of “Fukawa is so gloomy!" and Aoi correcting him) he is not aware that he has insulted people. He is quick to apologize though.
Ishimaru is very open, but doesn’t want others to worry—if he is crying because he has done something wrong, he will openly state it ("I HAVE MISGENDERED OOGAMI-KUN WHAT A SHAME etc.) but if it is because of someone else, he will unabashedly try to cover it up.
However, Ishimaru is very good at embarrassing others simply because he does not like to cover things up. He is honest to a fault, and butts into others’ conversations without so much as a warning ("Please refrain from saying you are cool! Remember that time…"). He’s just trying to uphold his morals.
and some quick tips on writing as him!
Exclamation points are almost always there! I usually save ALL CAPS for when he is speaking all out, since it sort of ruins the effect if he speaks all caps all the time
Don’t use too flowery of language! Ishimaru is still a simple person at heart. Keep it simple, just like he is.
Ishimaru has a lot of mottos! He likes to say things like “Remember to brush your teeth! A clean smile means a clean soul!"
Ishimaru is really corny! Do not be afraid to say silly things, because he says them on a regular basis! hehe!
When I play Ishimaru, I tend to think of a very exaggerated, almost cartoonish policeman? If you want any more tips, I will write up some more stuff!
"Doesn’t matter! One must continue to test their talents and improve them! Engrave those words upon the archway of your house, so that you never forget!" His hands were still up in the air. “Unless you are afraid that I will beat you! I am a hall monitor, so there’s no need to worry there." His eyes lit up with fiery determination “But I will still try my hardest to win against you!"
“I-It’s rock paper scissors for god’s sake!" The brunet couldn’t help but take continuous steps back away from the other man, hands waving in front of him an a nervous expression on his features.
Though once bumping against the lockers behind him, Naegi sighed in defeat. “Fine .. Though I’m just going to end up embarrassing myself." He muttered half heartily, before accepting his fate and placing his fist in his hand. “Alright Ishimaru-kun."
"ROCK PAPER SCISSORS!" He bellowed, raising his fist into the air.
Ishimaru chose scissors. Naegi chose rock.
"This is...truly magnificent! You really are a Super High School Level Good Luck!" The hall monitor turned around, grabbing hold of another student. "Look! I implore you, play rock paper scissors with my good friend Naegi-kun!!" The other student looked a bit nervous, backing away from Ishimaru.
As the student ran away, Ishimaru sighed. "Perhaps I scared them off! I seem to do that quite often!" He turned with a smile to Naegi. "Seeing as you are the more 'normal' one here, please tell me how to make friends!" He blinked once or twice, awaiting an answer to his impromptu question.
then giggles, “Oh? SHE’S your mommy? I seeeeee." She smiled brightly, clapping her hands together, “That’s so cute!!!"
"And no, They’re all right, they managed to put it out before the fire spread." Chihiro nods, thinking, “And I thought you were looking for the dimensional portal thing?"
She tilts her head, smiling, “Though you may if you wish, it’s nothing to interesting really, I’m just extracting salvageable parts."
"We are looking for a dimensional hiatus! But Mei-chan is bored, and I am also! So, we should ‘hang out’ with you! I can practice my conversational skills!" He said, scooping Mei into his arms.
Chihiro giggles, smiling at the father/daughter pair. “Of course!!" She claps her hands together, giving a sweet smile, “I won’t be much conversation! But I’ll try to help!!"
She smiles, turning and breezing off to her room, unlocking it to allow them inside, “It’s rather lonely in here with Mukuro sick, I’ll have to go and make her some more soup in a bit."
