The Eye of Horus
Eye of Horus, also known as udyat, symbol for power and protection, was also considered one of the most important amulets in Ancient Egypt, and was widely used as a representation of strength, safety and health.
The Egyptian god of the rising sun was represented as a hawk. It was the personification of light and had as enemy Seth, the god of disorder and violence. The Egyptian God was the son of Isis and Osiris.
Seth, only reigned in the deserts, a fact that aroused tremendous envy in him. So he prepared a trap and murdered Osiris, quartering him in 14 pieces, thus becoming the new king of Egypt. Isis, the wife of Osiris, after gathering all the parts of her husband, managed to resurrect it and united itself sexually to him.
The result of this copulation is Horus, who was born hidden in an island of Delta. In order to avenge the death of his father, the already adult Horus confronts Seth, and, during the battle, has its left eye plucked by the enemy that ended up being replaced by an amulet, and then gave origin to what today is known as the eye of Horus.
Despite this, the son of Osiris succeeded in defeating the god of chaos, which made him the new king of Egypt, while his eye, theoretically shattered into six parts, became the symbol of the union of the human eye with the vision of the hawk , which was his symbolic animal.
Horus was known by different names: Harakhte, Harpócrates, Haroeris, among other names.
Nowadays, the eye of Horus is also widely used as a symbol against envy and evil eye, as well as protection, and so it is widely used to make tattoos in various parts of the body, it is also very common if you see the eye of Horus in the form of pendants and other accessories. Besides the eye of Horus, the ankh, hieroglyphic symbolizing life, is also popularly used as an amulet and also as tattoos.
Some people believe that the eye of Horus in the most mystical realm, some call it the “third eye,” which is responsible for the connection between the body and the soul.
Eye of Horus Right and Left
The right eye of Horus represents the concrete information, which is controlled by the left side of the brain. This side is responsible for understanding letters, words and numbers, and is more universe-oriented in a masculine way.
The left eye represents abstract information, is represented by the moon, and symbolizes a feminine side, with thoughts and feelings, intuition, and the ability to see a spiritual side.
Eye of Horus in Freemasonry
The eye of Horus is part of the symbols of the Freemasons, which for them means that they are always being observed by somebody, by a higher being, by the Great Architect of the Universe, but some authors affirm that the eye symbol of Freemasonry is the “Eye that All Sees, “and is nothing related to the Eye of Horus.
Eye of Horus and Illuminati
There is the theory that the eye of Horus is one of the symbols used by the group known as the Illuminati, in which it has much influence and control many things, and therefore has the “seeing eye” as one of its main distinctive.
Ancient Theater of Epidaurus
Built in the 4th century BC by Policleto the Younger, the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus is one of the most amazing places in all of Greece. Thanks to their good state of repair and their incredible acoustics, many tourists stay in the middle of the orchestra and recite poems, sing or whisper to friends sitting in the back rows. They are impressed by how the sound spreads to every corner of this great auditorium. Thus, the theater continues to be used during the Athens Summer Festival.
The Theater of Epidaurus has a circular scenery of 20 meters in diameter, has 55 rows of seats and can accommodate up to 14,000 people. The first 34 rows are the originals, found in the late 19th century during excavations by archaeologists.
Temple of Asklepios: The “Asklepion” of Epidaurus was one of the most important temples of Ancient Greece. It is dedicated to Asklepio, son of Apollo and god of medicine. At present only a few columns remain. Tholos, a circular building of white marble with columns, it is not yet known what its function was.
The stadium has the conservation of its remains of the fifth century BC where the games took place every four years.
The theater of Epidaurus is very famous for its remarkable acoustics. That is, the smallest possible sound can be heard, for example, a sigh or a paper being torn, which can be heard clearly even in the last row of seats, according to archeology scholars.
