My ranking of the Doctor's has changed since I last listed them - which was before Capaldi's first episode aired. So here's my slightly different list, along with my current favorite stories of each: 1. Tom Baker - Genesis of the Daleks/Robots of Death/Talons of Weng-Chiang/City of Death (Tied) 2. Colin Baker - Revelation of the Daleks 3. William Hartnell - The Dalek Invasion of Earth 4. Sylvester McCoy - The Happiness Patrol (no joke) 5. Patrick Troughton - The Mind Robber 6. Peter Capaldi - Listen/Mummy on the Orient Express 7. Jon Pertwee - Inferno 8. Paul McGann (only heard three audios) - Light at the End/Zagreus 9. Matt Smith - Day of the Doctor 10. Peter Davison - Caves of Androzani 11. Christopher Eccleston - The Empty Child (both eps) 12. David Tennant - Silence in the Library (both eps) I love all of the Doctor's in their own way, except David Tennant. Tennant played it very well but the way his character was written and my dislike for most of his stories (minus Human Nature/Family of Blood, Blink, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Turn Left and The Waters of Mars) places him at the bottom of the list.

Hello! Been away for a long time... but I'm back. Side note: Season 8 was the best season of NuWho yet, Capaldi is the best New Doctor yet as well!

Steven Moffat has said that it was “time to get rid of” old Doctor Who.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Moffat said: “It was time to change. Certain things we were doing a little reflexively. Some of the humour was getting a bit glib. One of the hardest things to notice is when your new idea has become your old idea and it’s time to get rid of it.”

Jenna Coleman added: “It’s amazing how different it feels. It’s darker. The limits feel like they’re being pushed more in terms of the danger and the dread. It’s scarier, that’s for sure.”

Coleman said one of the bigger changes is the pace of the stories: “A producer once told me this is the hardest job because you’re creating characters and telling stories while always on the run. But Steven’s changed the format quite a lot. We have much longer scenes now.”

Ben Wheatley, director of the first two episodes, said: “For me, they’re back to Classic Who, or the mid-Tennant adventures, where you’d tell a story and move on to the next one, less tied up in the final machinations of long plot arcs.

“Capaldi’s his own man but there are elements of Baker and Troughton and Pertwee. He’s inherently funny but inherently brooding and complicated, as a performer and a man.”

Doctor Who Series 8 will begin on Saturday, 23rd August on BBC One.

It’s interesting because if you go back and reread the books, every single one of Trelawney’s predictions, even the really ridiculous ones, came true. So this is actually not only possible but highly probable.
