This is Grace in Starfield.
The GM hired a transfer from another store and she's pretty cool. She's 18, in college, and she gets along with everyone. Her first day she was apparently cracking jokes and just being herself. I got to work with her Tuesday night and we were talking about being tall at a young age, especially because of how it sucked being our heights at the beginning of puberty. I don't remember the conversation perfectly but she said she was 5'9", almost 5'10" and then one of our male coworkers chimed in and said that I was also the same height, but she's definitely taller than me. So she said, "We'll then you're obviously not 5'9"." He busted out laughing and was like," Oh damn. She called you out." I said, "I round up because I'm 5'8" and 3/4". At the end of the day, with my shoes, I'm right at 5'9". Unlike you, who tries to claim 6ft when you're clearly 5'10"." The other male coworker just laughed and even she was laughing. He didn't have a comeback. Shocker. š
Personally, I don't want to be towering over people. It absolutely sucks being as tall as I am for as long as I have been and will continue to be so. I was taller than all the boys in school until 10th-11th grade. I've been this height since I was 11. That 22 years of being taller than all of my friends, coworkers, classmates, etc. I remember the teachers asking me to get stuff off of the top shelves for them. What girl wants to be that tall and scare off all the boys? š
Not only that, but it's extremely difficult to find a boyfriend when you're really tall. Especially during puberty. Even now, as an adult, it's not easy finding a man who doesn't want a 5ft, petite woman. So, yes, I have made the decision that I will only date men who are over 6ft tall. I have a preference and I'm not sorry if you don't fit that because guess what? I, as a woman, know what I want and am looking for. Not unlike men.
I'm not going to be sorry for what I like. And I'll be damned if I'm going to be shamed for it as well. I like what I like and that happens to be men over 6ft tall.
How do you "come out" to your parent? Especially when the parent is a devout Christian? And yet they're always asking/saying, "I'd love you no matter what, even if you were a lesbian." I'm not a lesbian, I'm bisexual. My mom has asked me numerous times if I was a lesbian and I always say no because that's the truth. I'm not. However, I'm terrified of telling her the truth. I know she says that she'd love me no less and I'd never disappoint her, I know that's not true. I know her stance on homosexuality and even though I'm not a lesbian, I'm still queer/gay. I like both men and women. My mom is my best friend and I can't fuck that up. It's the only constant in my life outside of my brother. So how do I approach this?

2 more years
The Irish are gearing up and saying, "Okay lads, ladies and them, in two years we'll fine'lly be free."
It's been a while since I've had to deal/work with teens.
Today I got a call from a parent, 30 minutes before she was scheduled to work, telling me that her daughter wasn't going to be able to work her double because "her dad is out of town, there's contractors at the house, and she's with me running around town all day".
I straight up said, "One of us can meet you to bring her to work." Obviously there were excuses so I said, "If you're running around town, that means you're out and about so you should be able to drop her off at her job, right? If not, we can have someone meet you somewhere to pick her up." Then the mom started stuttering and fumbling for even more excuses. Shocker. I cut the mom off in her ramblings and said, "I'm sorry, but this is your daughter's place of employment. Not yours. She needs to be the one to call out and get her shift covered. If she's not willing to come to work, then she needs to be an adult and call the general manager to figure this out because this is her job." Of course the mom asked for the number of the GM so she could call him. I flat out said, "Is she in the car with you? If so, I need to speak to her. Again, this is her job. Not yours."
She put the girl on the phone and immediately, because she heard the conversation, started apologizing. I finally said, "But you're not sorry. You've known for a week that you are supposed to work a double and be here in 20 minutes. There is no one to cover your shift and you don't care. Its definitely not fine, but you know what? I don't care. You need to call D so he can find someone to cover your call out last minute since you've decided not to work. Here's hiss number." I gave her the number twice. Twice. She even repeated it back to me.
Guess what? She never called him. Again, shocker. So when he called me to ask if I'd fed the dogs I asked him, "Hey, so who is covering Z's double?" He was like, "Uhhhh, what do you mean?" I said, "She was supposed to call you so you can get her shift covered because apparently she can't work today. That was about an hour ago."
Needless to say, he didn't know because she never called him and she didn't call because Zoe is a scared of D. So myself and 2 other employees were calling other coworkers on their day off to see if they could help out. Only one of them could work, but it was only the night shift.
The reason that A and I were so mad was because Z had her mom call and make up some bullshit reasons about why she couldn't work. Especially after D overheard Z and M (an ex employee) making plans for Saturday and M (stupid, loud and obnoxious) was encouraging her to call out or get her shift covered Saturday.
I hate working with teens.
on that note why is there NO medical privacy in Starfleet? there's like no private exam rooms or hospital beds in any sickbays. random people walk into the room in the middle of exams all the time and the doctors will just share diagnoses in a room full of people. like wtf what if I didn't need my supervisor knowing that I have IBS or im pregnant with an alien or whatever????? captains will just ask doctors for updates on someone's condition and immediately get them?

I haven't read this series, but now I think I have to.
So... just out of pure curiosity, how many lefties are on here?
Probably a ton, but I'm much more interested in the day to day things.
How many of you ditch a spiral notebook?
How many of you start from the back of spiral notebook?
How many of you skip a page in a notebook because it's to much of a pain in the ass/painful/difficult to use?
How many of you buy pens based on advertising that they're "leftie friendly"?
How many of you bowl (when you go bowling) left-handed?
How many of you throw left-handed?
How many of you use scissors with your left hand?
How many of you are left-handed, but only use your left hand when it truly matters?
Alternatively, how many of you are lefties, but are predominantly right handed unless you're writing, cooking or doing something that requires precision?
I'm asking because I'm left-handed, but I can only use my left hand when I need to be precise. Blood draws, writing, cooking, slicing, etc. I've tried to bowl as a leftie and I'm terrible.
So, please, explain how being left-handed has impacted your life.
reblog if youāre a girl who likes girls
I received my first Christmas card today. It was beautiful, absolutely stunning, and it included a picture of my friend, her boyfriend and her children. I put it on my fridge because I love her and we've been friends for years. We actually met online and I finally met her, in person, in 2017.
As soon as I did that, I had a depressing epiphany. I have reached the age where my friends will be sending me those types of holiday cards. I don't feel like I'm old enough to have family pictures sent to me.
I know I'm 31, but it didn't hit me, until today, that I am old enough to have friends with kids and a family of their own. Not that I didn't know my friends have families, because I do, but this is just... it's weird.
Wow.
I still think of myself as that weird girl in HS who reads too much. But... I'm not. š¤·āāļø I'm an adult and my friends are too. š
It also makes me sad because I should have, if my body was normal, an 11 year old, a 7 year old and a 3 year old. However, my body hates me so I don't have any living children; as much as that pains me.
I digress.
I even asked my brother, "Am I truly old enough to have friends send me these types of things?" He laughed and said, "Yeah, you are. You're in your 30s."
I just... wow. I don't even have the words.
James Spader is sexy as hell. I don't care that he's 30 years my senior. I'm definitely thirsting after him. He's hotter than the sun, in my opinion.
Mmmmm. That man is absolutely delicious.
The doggies are back from the groomers!
