OKAY LISTEN UP BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING SUPER IMPORTANT ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN AND MOST OF YOU PROBABLY DON’T KNOW
It’s the inclusion of Storm. (Storm? Pretty sure that’s Storm.) And in a way where, yes, representation saves lives.
See, here’s a weird medical fact: black women are more likely to get breast cancer and nobody knows why. It’s a medical mystery. Now, I want you to do a fun exercise: tell me the last time you saw a breast cancer awareness campaign that included black women. Go on, I’ll wait. Speaking as someone active with the cause whose aunt is even more active with the cause, here’s my answer: In eight years of working for awareness across four states, I have never seen a single black woman in any breast cancer campaign. Ever.
Black women are also more likely to die of breast cancer because they’re less likely to catch it early. That’s not genetics, that’s math. The sooner you begin treatment, the better your prognosis. Black women are less likely to know how to do self-exams and because of the socioeconomic divide, less likely to see an OB/GYN annually. And they’re ignored by awareness campaigns.
Tell your black friends. And spread this like wildfire. Because they are more at risk than you are.
In this very moment, Mexico citizens are marching on the Capital City urging and asking for Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto to step down and quit.
THIS IS SOMETHING NO MEDIA WILL BROADCAST BUT IT’S THE REALITY OF THIS COUNTRY !!
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
Feeling like some free readings tonight. So if you’d like one, just drop an ask specifying if you want a lenormand, oracle, or tarot reading, your question and if you want it answered privately or public. I’ll do five readings tonight :) So let me know guys!
I’ll only be able to do a few today because it takes a long time and a lot of energy out of me :)

Diviner Spotlight: Arcane Asks: teabooksandcoffee
I’m doing pretty well; energy’s good and the vibe is phenomenal, thank you for asking!
Sadly it’s not a very exciting story ha-ha, but I just felt that teabooksandcoffee really summed up the three basic things that keep me centred, calm and the majority of what I blogged/reblogged on my personal Tumblr. I’m a Barista at the ‘Bucks by trade; so it’s a big part of my day-to-day, and has been for two years now (that’s where the coffee comes into play). I’ve always been a tea fanatic, especially when it comes to all the things tea can be used for such as: healing, remedies for ailments, memories and such. Lastly, I incorporated books because ever since I was a child I would use books to escape the harshness of reality. I have a really vivid imagination that seems to never want to quit, so books were my outlet. Whether it was just reading them, or writing one myself; I always felt safe in the world of literature. So I put all three together and came up with teabooksandcoffee
My family was very open about divination, spirituality, the after world and the like. I come from a Portuguese family and a lot of it was part of the culture or spoken about openly. However, to really pinpoint the exact thing that sparked the flame to life, I’d have to go with my mom. She is the person that really opened up my eyes to the divination world when I was very young. She never discouraged me from learning about everything, and making my own opinion about things that maybe taboo to others.
I just recently got into Lenormand, and I’m really enjoying the ride of learning to use this method! It’s very straightforward which appeals to me because a lot of the time I deal with emotions, and feelings that can be easily interpreted a hundred different ways, just like Tarot. So at this moment I’d have to say Lenormand is my preferred method, but I assure you I am very much the vibration of my life path #5; I’m always changing it up ha-ha!
I was first introduced to Lenormand by a fellow Tumblr divination blog venusinthefifth. She’s a remarkable soul, and she pretty much opened up the world of Lenormand cards to bleed into my own little world! With just a few posts and pictures I was hooked. So as soon as I could, I got my hands on my own deck and started practicing. Slow at first, just two card combinations with some cheat sheets and help from donnaleigh’s helpful youtube videos and links…then I jumped head first into 9 card readings not a week or so later!
Sometimes it’s hard to understand/interpret the message spirit is trying to convey at the exact moment you are giving a reading; especially if the other person’s energy is scattered and/or so focused on one outcome. You have to be able to distinctly identify what is your energy, what energy is theirs, and what energy spirit is trying to bring to the forefront of the reading; which at times can be difficult to do. Another challenge I’ve found is some people have a lot of misconceptions about divination. I have had a few people warn me about the doors divination might open, and the ‘evil’ or harmful things that may occur when practicing with these tools. What these people don’t realize is that, that conception is as far from the truth as it gets! This at times can become frustrating because as a diviner, I know if they just took the time to properly research divination, they would come to learn that it is an ancient tool used to better connect with ones instincts/gut/subconscious/soul connection to spirit. Others have this preconceived notion that we as diviners see all; because we use these tools that are often connected (but not limited to) fortune telling. A diviner must be able to see the future through the cards as clear as one can see the sun on a beautiful day. That again is a misconception. The cards can help you to understand: the reasons behind an action, show different perspectives of a situation, and yes depending on the divination method; give you an idea as to what the outcome may be if one takes a certain action. Divination is merely a tool to help bring to light what is immediately important and/or helpful to the reader. It is also a good tool to use when one needs help understanding the underlining reasons behind certain situations. So it makes it really difficult to give a reading to someone who comes in with the mindset that I have all the answers, and will tell them their future play by play. If a person comes to me for a reading with that mindset, I already know that disappointment will surely be the outcome one way or another. They end up missing the important messages spirit is trying to convey to them through the reading, which also becomes frustrating for me as a diviner.
Be gentle with yourself and take baby steps. Practice as often as possible on family, friends, yourself, your pets, even your stuffed animals! Keep journals detailing your readings, so you can look back and see how much you’ve grown as a reader. Trust your instincts and just have fun with it!
There are a lot of beautiful souls within the divination community here on Tumblr. Many are open to giving free readings, which are always fun and helpful. You also learn a lot and get different perspectives/helpful tips while you explore its vastness (I know I got at least one or forty great tips from your blog alone!). You can make a lot of great friends that you jive with on a spiritual level, and for the most part it’s very inclusive
As a whole I think we all have the same goals. We want to understand the world both inside and outside our beings. We’re all looking for a place to feel accepted, a place to learn and feel comfortable being our wacky selves. We also want to help others, but in a way that’s less capitalistic in its approach and more spiritual, more healing.
I think I’d play the devil’s advocate more. I find sometimes because divination can be so spiritual and personal to a lot of diviners; one is easily upset or offended when another diviner doesn’t have the same perspective on a certain aspect of divination. So I find by playing the devil’s advocate you end up turning arguments back into the discussions they were meant to be in the first place. I’ve learned it’s a frustrating, yet effective way of opening people up to the realization that there is no right or wrong way of using divination. It’s a tool and you can use it in a thousand and one ways. So why get angry when you can possibly learn a new way of seeing or doing a certain method of divination? It’s a personal thing, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a reason to start hate or Tumblr wars.
I’ve been told by a lot of people that I have an evil sounding laugh, which clashes entirely with my outward appearance.
To never stop learning and growing; to one day be able to truly feel connected enough to my intuition that I won’t second guess myself as much as I do at this moment in time.
It’s made me more aware of my gut/intuition. I used to dismiss my instincts and tried to be logical about everything I did. Divination has taught me that it’s okay to end up with answers to things seemingly out of the blue; and that it’s okay to trust a feeling even though it doesn’t makes sense at the time that it hits you.
Well my first deck was given to me by my mom, and I’ve actually bought a few decks that I ended up feeling like they belonged to friends of mine instead; which coincidentally started them off on their own paths of divination. So I guess I kind of follow that superstition that your first deck is given to you by another, however I truly believe you can buy yourself your first deck! I believe that if you are in a bad mood, or anxious that your card will reflect that in your reading. So I always make sure I’m in the right state of mind and centered before every reading. I usually have my cards wrapped up in dark cloths to keep their vibrations in check and also in their original boxes if possible.
Believe me the pleasure was all mine! And if anyone is looking for me they can find me on my main Tumblr blog which is teabooksandcoffee.tumblr.com or my Halloween blog – halloweenandautumnthings.tumblr.com. New energy is always welcome!
