As far as Osira knows, she’s a physics student from England, whose cultural roots are as much a mystery to her mother as they are to her. Despite her love for logic and science, however, she can’t deny everything supernatural - she’s always heard the whispers of the dead in her mind. When one voice rises above the others to beg that she investigates his death, she confides in Amina and gets more than she bargains for, finding out the truth of her birth. Part of her is skeptical about other worlds and power-giving rifts in reality, but another knows instinctively that it’s true. Following the voice, her mother’s knowledge and her own instincts, Osira realises that she’s not alone in her abilities - and those like her are in danger.
