This zine and original character is ✨️ME✨️ and it's part of my story:
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and to simplify; it is a chronic immune disease that attacks your brain. 🔥🧠 Beig diagnosed was heart wrenching for me, but the devastating part was when I had severe hand tremors and could not make art for months at a time. Art is literally a part of my identity and I put in the work to manage my health the best I was able to.
None of this is medical advice, it is just my experience and what worked for me. I had to change my lifestyle habits and really emphasize my mental health and work on healing my trauma. I can not afford medicine or treatment so homeopathic remedies, diet changes and counseling were my main focuses to get better. I quit my toxic job, left an abusive relationship, struggled and overcame so much. When I went back to get my brain scanned at the hospital the neurologists looked at me 👀 surprised that my brain lesions were healing💖 I believe in myself and my capabilities and I healed my brain lesions 💪🔥 I will continue to take care of myself, my mental health, my art and my life. This whole MS journey has blessed me with new perspective and inner strength.💫💜🌸
I could write a book to be honest about my life and experiences with trauma, healing and art at this point. A lot of people don't know how trauma happens, what it is and what it does to your brain and body. Trauma is linked to literal brain damage and many chronic illnesses (M.S., arthritis, IBS, Lupus, POTS) Be kind to yourself and others for everyone's mental and physical well being 💗
💖 We can heal ourselves and the world little by little, by understanding, educating, and considering the importance of mental health and its link to chronic illnesses. I highly recommend the book The Body Keeps the Score if you want to learn more on this subject.💫 Knowledge is power and healing💫 Art is therapy 🎨💖
