Have you ever heard of V9 juice?

My friends and I used blend peyote buttons in V8 juice and call it "V9" juice.

Watch out for that 9th vegetable we would laugh.

When I was in my 20s, The Band and The Grateful Dead, and Neil Young all pretty much summed up the crew I hung out with.

One day my friend Russ asked me if I wanted to go see The Band?

This was not even a question.

Russ's mom was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times and she had been given press tickets to see The Band's farwell concert at the Greek Theater.

Sadly, she couldn't make it.

So she gave her tickets to Russ.

Three tickets actually, so we grabbed our friend Harold and made some V9 juice and set out in Harold's convertible for the Greek Theater.

With the top down.

When we got there, to our amazement, we found out that the press section was FRONT ROW CENTER.

If you can imagine, we three young rough around the collar hippie dudes sitting amid the Hollywood royalty, in front row seats at the Greek Theater, listening to The Band...

Yep...

A night I will never forget.
