i do find literature more entertaining than a lot of other things but i do want to write my own book at some point.

but looking back i look at dirk and jacob and i see that my brother hasnt changed one bit i mean yeah hes a protective motherfucker but its like you said he has something to protect now and hes drawing strength from that and i mean im just as protective of jade but condy hasnt been taking me very seriously after how drastically i let myself change

i should i should work on this its instinct to be what the imprintee needs but that doesnt mean i have to change my personality to do that

[pvt] He's simply being needlessly stubborn as he is oft pricy to. It's unlikely she will turn her attentions to him in the first place, furthermore Jacob is a capable man. Even if he were to be hunted he wouldn't go down easily, or at least I'd hope so. Perhaps I'm getting rusty in choosing good hunters. Hm. Either way, it's best you convey that Dirk needs to have some faith in his partner's abilities. That's not particularly reassuring, you realize. But, irrelevant. This stage of rebellion was inevitable.

I know it's a good point, I don't present faulty advice. You've simply let the expectations overtake the reality of it, making imprinting to become something quite of your nightmares. As I've stated, however, such a thing is controllable and if you want to protect Jade you'll most certainly have to learn to deal with. If you want the others to respect you as they once did, be efficient. You've dawdled around playing the game of pretend for too long. Take your time to work on it but I suggest not taking too long.

But yes, you're correct. Be it luck or misfortune I always happen to miss dramatic events. Which is why I can rely on you to fill me in, yes?

As for why, it's quite complicated. Everything in nature be it on Earth or in Hell requires a balance. In the simplest terms, think of this as one of those balances. I may be the ruler of Hell but there are some things even I cannot defy, precarious things like fate and justice. Power comes with a price, D. Surely you recognize that too.

But, imprinting doesn't intrinsically make you weaker. While I understand it's quite the uncontrollable urge, the fact that you've imprinted on someone isn't what affects people's views on you. It's your behavior itself. Imprinting is a common behavior and practice, D, yet you don't see all of the demons in Hell rolling over to bare their throats. Some of the more powerful demons have imprinted yet their fearful reputation remained.

Caring about people is always a liability but at the same time, some people rise to higher levels of strength because they have something to protect. There's value in having something you desperately want to preserve. You used to be feared but you are not anymore because though you have the power, you're not utilizing it in a smart way. Certainly some think it's easier to get to you through the ones you've been imprinted on but if you were truly powerful then you'd be able to make good on threats to protect them.

You're a capable person, D. Your weaknesses aren't biological, more rather they're psychological. You can be just as feared as you once were if you simply put the effort into doing things properly. Utilize the tools you have at your disposal, be it your power or actual people, to work things in your advantage.

Headcannon

Demons can imprint on others. When they imprint, they are willing to change even the very core of their personality to be what they need for whoever the imprintee is. They literally become the (un)living version of the question “ How can I make you love me back?” Imprinting is not a willing practice. It just happens. ( a good example of this is dante and jade – dante had initially intended on eating the poor girl, but imprinting on her thus prevented that and changed his views on the world and the war he is a part of. he is driven to protect her, even despite the contract with his elder sibling that he cannot disobey. )

Usually a demon can only imprint once, since it is expected they will imprint on another demon – but in the case that the demon imprint on someone mortal, they are allowed to imprint as many times until one imprintee is immortal. An exception to this is if they imprint on a mortal, and then an immortal – but then their mortal love becomes immortal. ( Such as a human becoming a Hunter-Demon ) There are no repercussions for that situation. Its simply an unexpected phenomenon. ( In VERY rare cases a demon may imprint on an immortal and then a mortal )

Aromantic demons can still imprint. The eldest demon, Condy, is a good example of this.

okay so i was thinking about something called “resets”

resets erase most if not all amounts of human from the demons  except any major emotions like love etc, especially due to imprinting on a certain person the humanity they gain on earth limits their abilities to use their abilities such as dirks empath powers or dantes flames 

resets help them regain full control over the abilities  they do become more chaotic however

demons in the timeline can actually regain their humanity mostly theyre still demons but they dont have quite the same abilities as before and its easier to kill them they could, if old enough, ‘die from old age’ if they lose the will to live longer

    if you play ANY sort of villainous character - from a pick-pocket to a full-scale serial killer - and i follow you, please know that i’ve come into this FULL WELL what i’m signing up for. i don’t expect you to soften your character for me, i’m not going to complain when they aren’t nice to my characters, and i honestly probably love watching them do what they do. not all characters are going to be the “good guys”, or the type of villain that can be redeemed. not everyone has a tragic backstory that makes them do the things they do - some people enjoy it, others just do it because they can, and for some it’s all they know. yes, there are villains with a soft spot or two - this doesn’t mean they need to change everything. our characters become friends/lovers even though my character is a “good guy”? you keep doin’ you. keep stealing those purses, killing those people, burning those villages to the ground. 

        tl;dr - I DIDN’T FOLLOW YOU BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING SOFT AND EASY - you keep bein’ a villain, babe, cause you’re  just as excellent as the heroes.
