The maati(soil) of Awadh

Awadh exists in the same region as the ancient Kaushal kingdom with Ayodhya as its capital. Which was for some time moved to Shrawasti and later moved to Lucknow. People in Awadh region speak Awadhi.

The word "Awadh" comes from Ayodhya (must have heard the song "holi khele raghubeera awadh me, holi khele raghubeera")

The Awadhi language belongs to the prakrit family of Indic languages. It differs widely from the other languages spoken in Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Bihar.

For more context, Bhojpuri belongs to the language family in which you'd also find Bengali, Odia, Assamese and Magahi, Maithili and others.

Also, want to make it clear that Awadhi is not a dialect of Hindi. It is a language of its own.

It has a wide variety of artforms that still exist to this day like bhakti geet, bhajans, plays and storytelling, various forms of dance forms, various forms of lok geet and lok sangeet.

May 26 - took a train from Mumbai at Midnight for Banaras. It was such a journey. I was traveling with my mother and sister. The last time I travelled by train with my mother was more than 10 years ago(maybe 2015).

I would doze off in between or was looking out of the window and point things out to my mother. But my mother watched all her shows and a movie while traveling. So she basically enjoyed the train journey.

On the seat in front of ours was a Muslim family. My mother mostly doesn't discriminate unless they give a reason to, so she was talking to the lady. They were talking about Eid(she told us it is on May 28) and the delicious food and clothes and everything. All was good. Until in the evening when we came across the Maihar temple, I pointed it out to my mother and when others asked what is it and she told them it's a temple, she got a no response from the Muslims. That was when I realised that you can participate in their religious conversation but they would never participate in yours. It's kinda very evident

After an amazing winter vacation in Nov 2025. I decided to take a summer vacation. I was on vacation from May 26 to June 8. Last time I travelled alone. This time I had my sister and mother with me. And this time I didn't do a vacation diary like I did last time because I had so many health issues and half of my vacation was spent in travelling from one place to another. I think I travelled more in that scorching summer heat than the nice cool winter weather. Idk why I did that. And I'm all tanned now and I think I've lost little weight too.

Just heard that the guy got fired from his job. Consequences for his actions. But is it really a punishment?

An ex friend told me he got fired from his job because of a POSH complaint. One week later he was at a new job. He ofcourse denied he did anything wrong. But I know he surely must have done something. Because in college when he had his first girlfriend, the girl broke up because she said he hit her. Which I had seen him do once in public in front of our other friends.

And from whatever he, the biryani guy, said in the video was clearly a rape. Why isn't anyone putting him in jail? Why is the girl still quiet? I'll tell you why. He lied. He made up the whole thing. He didn't just tell the comedian about the "he paid ₹370 for biryani and how he got it back". He went on to talk about what all he did to the girl. That is clearly a rape fantasy that he thought would make him sound super cool.

I have heard such stuff before. A guy friend once told me how he got approached by a girl at the club and was getting touchy. But the guy who was there with him denied that happened. A guy in college would tell us about his 13-14yo girlfriend (we were 17yo). And how he has already gotten intimate with her and all that. How much of that could be true? We never saw the girl. Never saw her instagram. Never saw her at any of our hangouts. That Posh guy also did something similar. Lied about being with an older woman. Just porn fantasies they think that it really would be convincing.

The best part about being a Hindu is celebrating festivals with everything environment friendly. Growing up Hindu meant learning the importance of everything in nature and the environment. Every festival meant using flowers and leaves. Using leaves as plates to eat. Every festival is harvest related. Every fruit we offer to the gods is seasonal. A river is a goddess, a mountain is a God, every tree has a god associated with it (and so it gets protection. I've heard my mother tell me so many times that don't break neem stems in Chaitra and Ashwin months because it is sacred to the Goddess). All you offer to the gods is a lota full of water. Be it Surya, Shiv, or Sheetla.
