The fact that I'm not even surprised someone said this is very concerning.
This literally reminds me of the chants that Kashmiri Hindus had to hear before they were cleansed from their homeland. It’s always the same pattern. People will again downplay this until someone gets killed and even then they will justify their deaths because that’s what they always do to us.
At the NATO summit, Trump:
1. Referred to Iran as the Islamic Republic of Japan;
2. Referred to Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky as “President Putin” and answered questions on Zelensky’s behalf with Zelensky sitting right next to him; and
3. Threatened to cut off all trade with Spain.
So, back to regular programming, it seems.
it is beyond me how zelensky manages to not scream at the man.
Because he's an exceedingly rare kind of political leader: he has a genuine sense of responsibility which drives him to put the good of his country and its people above his own.
@indecisiveavocado you're asking how a Jew born in the Soviet Union in 1978 manages not to scream at an idiot talking shit?
My respect for zelensky grows every single day.
Iranian activists are raising awareness about what happened to her, using the hashtag '#FreeZara'.
*sighs heavily* it would be nice to have a day when every event on earth isn’t turned into this, but alas. seeing this start as a trickle of whining last night and become a deluge of rage today speaks to the place we’re in societally.
this isn’t about the wedding or the bride and groom or opinions about anything else. they simply had a handful of Jewish guests and a Jewish officiant, and that is drawing intense levels of hatred and scrutiny under the tattered veil of “antizionism.” it’s convenient that the guests being eviscerated for this are just Jews.
the underlying desire here is to stop Jews from existing in public. idc if that sounds dramatic, we’re seeing it constantly. pop culture is a wealthy microcosm, but this is no different than accosting Jews on the street because they’re wearing a kippah or banning the Star of David from Pride, no different from painting swastikas on Holocaust memorials. they do not believe that Jews should be able to comfortably exist, experience life, and be welcomed anywhere without being interrogated and forced to endure either litmus tests or slurs and dehumanization.
we saw this same commentary recently aimed at Jews who attended Knicks games. using hating on Jewish celebrities (for nothing more than being in public) to normalize it is part of the tactic to make that discrimination more palatable.
this ire at Adam Sandler and several of the other Jewish guests is the same ire that saw Scott Wiener harassed and thrown out of a Pride March despite his political record, the same ire that sees Jewish businesses vandalized, the same ire that firebombs synagogues, and ultimately the same ire that leads to Jews being hunted down on a beach or at a museum or at a music festival.
identify it. it’s all the same hatred.
My mind will always be boggled by the level of hate and racism against Indians that’s happening in the world right now. I was watching comments on the reels about the heatwave in India and how it killed people and the comments were so freaking racist. From celebration to people saying it’s our own fault because “they are dirty”. Then the heatwave in Europe happens and the comments are so drastically different.
Racism against Indians is so normal and it’s disgusting.
It was only a year ago that the Air India plane crashed and over 200 passengers died, and yet people in the comments were joking and celebrating the deaths of these people just because a majority of them were Indian. It’s horrific.
Indian lives just don’t matter to most people online and I’m so sick of it.
Racism against Indians is actually a little insane when you consider how widespread it is even among liberals and leftists . Even people who consider themselves to be progressive will laugh at call center or tech support jokes. All scammers are inherently indian. It’s okay to laugh at jokes making fun of Indians for their feelings towards animals or how they drive. India is inherently backwards and dirty so it’s okay to make jokes about getting food poisoning from even looking at indian food
Don't forget how the leftist flavor of Indian racism has them calling us fascists and Nazis for... *checks notes* not keeling over and dying every time there's a terrorist attack against us
This is how you manipulate history to serve your agenda -
This instagram post is trying to say a Mughal woman accidentally discovered "a process that changed perfumery forever" or "nothing like it had ever existed before".
And the method they're talking about was used to make perfumes in ancient India several thousands of years ago before this Mughal woman even breathed her first breath.
Even though we have evidence of distillery equipments being found in the excavations for IVC at several sites and aromatic oils being mentioned in ancient medical/ ayurvedic texts. And still these people continue to lie so proudly. Cooking up a story just to serve their "Mughal brought so much to India" propaganda?
Let me know if I'm wrong.
Marital rape might never be considered a criminal offence in India.
I am not trying to be cruel. India is very desensitised to women's fears and the abuse they endure, whether mental or sexual, because it is seen as normal.
However, in recent years, cases where men are victims have emerged, and that's something India doesn't know how to handle. There is a lot of fear among men regarding marriage, and if marital rape is legalised, that fear could become so overwhelming that men might avoid marriage altogether.
After the Blue Drum case or even the recent Siya Ketan case, men and their families are scared. Men's fears will always take precedence- the fear of having a wife who might kill you or lie in court about you. This fear will grow, and in a country like India, where patriarchy is deeply rooted, men's lives and fears will always be considered more important.
I am not saying that these male victims are at fault; absolutely not. A victim is a victim, regardless of gender. I am simply trying to explain that if you are a woman in India, crimes against you are so normalised that society has become desensitised. That's why they won't criminalise marital rape- because it would make men more cautious, and this patriarchal society can't afford for men to become scared or uncomfortable, even though women are expected to accept such conditions from birth.
I just saw a reel that showed how men are now careful around their wives just in case she's planning to murder him. So their fear after one case is valid. But thousands of cases against women can't make women uncomfortable, it makes their fear of men irrational.
My cousin(mausi's daughter) got married when she was 19-20 maybe. And she was a victim of DV. My mausi has 2 daughters. She was the youngest. I had met her only once as a teenager. I don't remember her very well. Anyway when she was pregnant, I was only 16, and she called to talk to my mother. But my mother went to the market and forgot her phone at home. So I answered and my sister was there too. So we were just talking about how it is, the weather and stuff because what else will I talk to her about, I didn't even know much about her. And I also did not know about how her in-laws treat her. Anyway, so before hanging up I don't know why I said "didi dhyan rakhna" (Didi, take care). A few months later she gave birth to a baby girl, and probably just 2-3 months later, we get the news she has sadly passed away. What did the husband do? He gave his daughter to my mausi saying "ab iski maa nahi rahi toh kya hum paalenge isko "now that her mother isn't alive, you think we'll take care of her?" And few days later we found out, the husband is now the owner of the land that my mausi gave to my cousin. My mausi wanted the granddaughter to have that land. Because my mausi is old and has nothing. That land was the only thing she could give her granddaughter but even that was taken away. No one stepped in. No one helped.
Can you imagine how devastated I was? The last thing I told her was dhyan rakhna. And my sister teased me saying "oh dekho iske andar ka bhai jaag gaya for his cousin". But I as a brother could never do anything for her even if I felt that feeling for a tiny second. Maybe she needed that "dhyan rakhna". Maybe she needed someome taking care of her more than anything. Someone who actually cared for her.
The ADL of California called the sentencing “little more than a slap on the wrist.”
crazy how the "all politicians are using rhetoric to persuade you and you cannot trust them 100% of the time" is just... gone. for the mayor of new york. why? because hes quirky and goofy and pushing 1930s type antisemitic propaganda?
you are all so fucking gullible you should be ashamed

that one map explaining how the word for soap reached from germany to malaysia
it showed that it reached arabia from europe and then to malay archipelago from arabia... and the map maker bent this arrow a bit so it doesnt pass over any land and make it easier to understand... cool enough
but the the rb just below it was smthn like "the concept of soap bypassing india"
this is on tumblr.com
and like... 1- its the word for soap, not the CONCEPT of soap as a whole, thw reason you wouldnt need to borrow a word is because you already have one for it.... because you developed it on your own
2- look up the etymology of shampoo
3- the arabic word was borrowed (in hindi atleast) via persian and is often used anyway but this wasnt shown in the map cuz the map was showing how it reached malay
