Unit Testing in XCode 4
A nice write up on some comparisations between OCUnit with SenTestingKit (Supplied in Xcode 4 automatically now by Apple) and the older GHUnit. An answer to why you might want to stick with the current unit testing framework that is build into Xcode.
Who should read this article: If you develop for iOS and you unit test, this is for you. I compare GHUnit with the revamped, Xcode 4-integrated OCUnit/SenTestingKit, and provide recommendations based on various criteria.

TweetDecks big update to their iPhone app just went live in the App Store not that long ago. This update is a complete redesign of their app. It offers better Facebook integration from what we can tell, and a much more intuitive interface. Simple but very functional.
This update puts the...

“Actually, Sheldon Has Better Design.”
If you’re an iOS developer, and love the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, then you have to watch season 4 episode 12: The Bus Pants Utilization (original air date is January 6, 2011.)
In this episode, Leonard comes up with an idea for his iOS app and derails his friendship with Sheldon.
What’s the App?
It’s a handwriting-recognition based equation solver, or in Sheldon’s way: “The Surprisingly Helpful Equation-Linked Differential Optimized Numerator.” The idea behind this is to use iPhone’s camera to take a picture of the equation, and scan it with handwriting recognition, then run it through a symbolic evaluation engine, and bam.

We have seen some astonishing claims for completion times of Portal 2. When I criticised a number of the recurring nonsensical complaints against the game yesterday, one of the aspects I highlighted was that the game simply couldn’t be finished in four hours. But we’ve since received so many comments, tweets and emails from people claiming to have finished between 4 and 5 hours that we became a little suspicious. Having spent yesterday morning replaying the game, knowing all the solutions, I was certainly nowhere near finished in four hours. And the rest of us on RPS have found it’s taking at least seven hours. And then we started hearing about some even more incredible finishing times for Portal 2, based on Steam’s in-built timer. We’ve some news for you: the timer doesn’t work.
